but in this drama, ofc I am rooting for xiguang with lin yusen. they deserve each other.

she grew up in wealthy and loving families (yes their parents divorced but both parents loved her and their divorce was when XG old enough), and she never “seems” to suffer.

in his pov, he needs to be successful first to be deserving of her bcs of his family status insecurities.
I dont know I just sympathize with him and feel like his reason is justified. He has baggage with him. His mother is sick and he has younger brother, they all depend on him. Furthermore, XG she is an only child who grew up with love and “seems” to never suffer.
If I were him, being with her with the current me, I would be insecure too. I would only be brave enough of being with her when I can make her happy.

His only fault in my opinion was not slapping ye rong back in college years

Chris seems good, I hope she ends up with Zhuang Xu. I mean yes ZX really did XG dirty in their college years, but he basically is a good person with insecurities. He is smart, good looking, responsible, and a filial son.
I just can’t hate him. I hope he can have his redemption arc by learning to love himself first before loving others
