the actress for ma nianyuan is not listed here. I really liked her acting in early episode 35 when she talked back to her mom. as much as I don’t like the character, that was good acting and made me understand where she come from here. but it’s no excuse for behaviour of course.

the slow burn and slow story is a style of the writer, gu man, most of her shows are like that.
For 2ML, by the time you are at ep 30, she has truly moved on, and we didn’t see 2ML for quite a while at that point.

it’s not like princess royal where the 2ML takes over the story.

the ep you mentioned, you can see she truly is uncomfortable and goes away soon, it’s truly just the 2ML who can’t move on, but she did looong time ago.
the stares here I interpreted it more as if she now recognized he is red flag and she is uncomfortable. the feelings themselves goes away it just time bit of time that’s normal

I feel like the FL here get a lot of hate for her looks and her age. honestly, she’s a great actress. but people want perfection and are jealous their fav was not chosen

my feelings is that it is a mix of her empathy for his hardship and him saving her a few times, and his feeling getting mixed up because of her being alike to his past lover.

personally, I find the lighthearted part is a bit much, I really like FL and the story (am at ep 6) but I just find the comedy part a bit overdone. from the story and setup, I’m sure it will get more serious soon. am very curious what kind of ending this writer / director has in mind for us.

peak drama, peak story, peak communication, peak OST, peak annoying SML! only thing that would make this drama better was if it was all out already!
