In order to let go of this story with such wonderful, well drawn characters, I need to do a rewatch. I know they are not real, but they felt real; And that is due to some excellent writing and acting. Even the OST was moving. I thought nothing could impact me like The White Olive Tree, but no! TPOB is on another level. And no, I am not comparing. The experienced emotions are just different. 10/10 for me.

And as I've said before, give the Costume Designer a raise, because that fit on Wei Shao...my word! His height and presence brought it home. Mercy! Help me. I think I need to go to Confession tomorrow. LOL

It is not a happy ending for ALL characters. A few people died. ML and FL had a happy ending.

For those wondering about a happy ending. The ML and FL do have a happy ending and the ML gets to hold his child. The original purpose of the marriage bore fruit, because peace came to the land. The canal flowed and all was well. However, not everyone survived the war.

I don't know what to say at the moment. In my opinion, this was a masterpiece full of beauty and horror. I have never been affected like this over a historical Cdrama. I actually felt tears. I need to sit with this. However, I will watch it again. It was just that good.
This is a must watch. You won't regret it.

What I love about this couple (ML and FL) is that they don't stay mad for 50 years. They talk about it and move on. In my opinion, this adds depth to their love story and to the bigger story. They are both learning in this relationship, as well as in their leadership style. Kudos to the. writers.

It says that it should be uploaded in an hour and a few minutes. Why this episode is late, I don't know. WeTV is an option but it requires payment :(

I love the way these characters have been written, especially the ML and FL. They are so opposite in temperament, yet complement each other. I love how steady the FL is. In the midst of vipers, she is calm, wise and holds that third eye. And she is not afraid to speak up. The ML is just great. I am loving how this actor is portraying him. He's got that mix of ruthlessness, softness, presence, childishness, maturity and so many other traits. I love his ability to say sorry when he knows he is wrong, as well as his softness towards his wife. I especially like the way the two come together even after disagreements. For me I think the ability of the two to stay connected, adds to the larger story. This is not just a romance but about the leaders of a people who must carry themselves a certain way. Hopefully the writers will not turn away from these solid character sketches in the next couple of episodes. Hopefully they will continue to maintain the story. Happy watching.

This drama has some of the best character and relationship development that I haven't seen in a long time. So far this drama is 'nailing' it in its storytelling.

And that's a wrap. This was a really good drama. Loved the plot and the actors, especially the ML and the FL. Loved the choice made by Jing Jing for her life. I have never seen the ML in a drama, and I have become a fan. For me, it is worth a rewatch.

First episode. Don't know what to think yet, but it holds promise. Serious topic with some humor thrown in. Along the way, there were a few impactful statements about how alcohol is used in daily life and events. Will continue to watch and see how the story builds. The FL frustrates me, yet maybe she is suppose to...?
