I have a theory that unlike you guys, I don't think HC necessarily likes XJ. He likes Luo Hou Ji Du (XJ's original form), which explains the lotus/flower thing and how it connects to XJ. I saw a leak on weibo where near the end, Luo Hou Ji Du (the male actor) and the white emperor hold hands as he takes him somewhere (to die together), after he finally forgives him. In the novel, both of them die together. And I'm pretty sure they are going to explore whatever they have going on later in the show when XJ's full form gets revived.

Honestly, I like Xiao Yuer with Tie Xinlan better only because of her better personality. Su Ying is such a disgusting woman with no education or morals, esp after what she tried to do to Hua Wuque knowing full and well Xiao Yuer would hate her all his life, but hey at least Xiao Yuer would be alive as if that's any better.
