Another commenter, Amy, a few days ago, said that Youku wanted to air Brink for the Feb slot because Starry wasn't quite finished with post-production, but Starry's producer kept telling Youku to wait since the drama would be ready soon. And Youku had to listen to them because they had significant investors behind them, and given the order of present events I'd say Starry managed to get its post production done on time.

The spirit angle would make sense because it matches what I know of spirit behavior in Chinese myths (specifically cultivating until they're able to take human form) but given how Tian Yao's species is perceived I don't think it's implausible they were called demons in the text? Because they're highly discriminated against by the xian cultivators, so it would make sense they'd call them demons. But I can't check the og raws since my chinese isn't proficient enough, but I will say it would be weird if they kept terms like "zhenren" intact but on a whim decided to change "spirit" to "demon".

Idk what tge stands for so I can't say for certain? The translator I read it from was Nikkispores of sporadic spores on blogspot. I can't speak to the total accuracy of their translation but they were transparent about any creative liberties they took as far as I could tell, for example like if they decided to exchange a Chinese saying in the text with one with a similar meaning that would be more familiar to English-speaking audiences.

Happy ending, yes, and yes, Tian Yao will regain his power. It's actually the central plot of the drama, since getting his body parts back = him regaining his power.

Tian Yao is a dragon DEMON, not a god. He cultivated for as millennium so he was powerful AF but then the antagonist Su Ying cut him to pieces because she wanted his dragon scales, hence why he needs Yan Hui to defend him in the drama.

It's looking good so far, very novel-accurate so I'm hoping it follows through with all the good signs its giving off so far

Also the novel is actually really fucking good, it might be too early in the year for it to be the next Love Between Fairy and Devil but when Brink DOES air I hope it gets listed as one of the top dramas of this year

If what Amy told us was true, then Starry does have some big backers behind it and they essentially strong armed Youku into airing Starry when they would've aired Brink first
