I actually do lean more towards keeping Tang Lian alive instead of killing him for the second half of the drama simply because it was sooo distracting when Random Tang Clan member jumped in to fill his shoes. Maybe do a death fakeout with him, make him critically injured so he's limited for a bit and regains enough to take his stand as Black Tortoise, but def don't kill him before the Epic Four Guardians Shot in the climax.

Your sources on him being referred to as a "linglong" is pertaining to the drama, which as an adaptation was likely to change things since I doubt they'll refer to him as a "demon" in the drama. If you actually wanted to be thorough in trying to disprove me referring to him as a "demon dragon" you'd have checked the novel raws yourself, which would've been a lot easier of a task for you, since you said Chinese is your native language.

Also that you're comparing a free novel translation to defending price hiking in other communities is hilarious. First off, I didn't pay anything to read the translation, so I don't have a monetary investment. Second off, the translator did the translation voluntarily and it is up on their site for free. There is NO expectation of industry-level quality. And third off, I'm defending them because frankly you're just being an elitist dick to them lol. Tang Lian's death I'm also ehhh on. There's pros and cons to it, honestly. On one hand, it does give our main group a (mostly) unified reason to take down Prince Yu that isn't just "we're doing this because Xiao Se wants us to" and sets the emotional stakes for the second half of the drama. On the other... it's EXTREMELY glaring in the emotional team-up scene against Lone Sword Deity that we have Random Tang Clan member show up to fill Tian Lian's place as Black Tortoise. Thats even worse! Because dictionaries exist for the very purpose of translation! Yes they are limited and imperfect but that doesn't negate their use. You use a dictionary every time you look up a word's meaning, they're not suddenly obsolete. That's not even getting into how these translators aren't GIVEN the job of translation. They VOLUNTEER to take on these projects, which is fully within their rights to do so. You cannot and do not have the right to stop them from taking on a translation project, no matter how mad you get at the job they do.

Furthermore, translators aren't exactly a huge field in the first place, and the "professional" field is even smaller. You say if they see a novel is translated they move on? Yeah, I wonder why? Maybe because there's a lot of novels to translate and not a lot of people to translate them. There's webnovels I'd like to read in my lifetime, thank you very much, without having to use Google Translate.
