Most probably the editing was done very quickly to fit in the early release which was the express package ( the Co. wanted money). But the director said he shall re-edit and release 10 episode which will have the proper pacing of the earlier episodes. not sure when it will be released...hopefully before year end...it could be director's cut Otherwise I agree with you that it could be on par with story of minglan or Yanxi

I guess when you look at it It wasn't that he had expectations as such but more a natural human reaction. Here is someone who has been living a life in perpetual darkness and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel then a small ray of light appears from nowhere. Its like a drowning man on the brink of death or should i say someone who didn't have his five senses and they suddenly returned and now he wants to feel everything and taste everything. He wants all of it, the whole works but at the same time because you lived in darkness it will take time for you to adjust to the light.
