I know some people think that the FL doesn't know how to act in dramas (I don't disagree), but she sure knows how to pick 'em! The premise is just so tempting! An FL that is now the matriarch of a family she entered cuz she wanted to investigate. & She flouts conventions with such indifference, but doesn't escape entirely unscathed. & She's competent & acts her age as the eldest sister-in-law (till ep 8). & The fight scenes are gud! If the wonders don't cease, this could turn out to be a treat...
ep 27 : I really like the character of Xian'er, I know she is a "bad girl" but I canโt get an ounce of irritation…
Hers is an awesome character!
Makes one wanna be an advisor on her side. In an alternate storyline, she would have been more patient, & captured the throne after she helped Prince Kangping become king, played the long game.
can i understand season 2 without watching season 1?
You will b able to understand it, since the cases are all different. However, the history b/w the characters is carried over from the previous season. S1 was pretty gud, it wouldn't be a waste of time to watch it first.
In ep 18, the scene in Yayuan Mansion was masterfully done! The fear one might feel on finding one's top boss at the place one has a search warrant for, chatting with the man one suspects. Zhou Yi Wei's face said it all.
And kudos for the peach scene at the gate when they r leaving. Wan Fu ( played by Lin Jia Chuan) is a delight to watch.
So we know that Zou Mian is the powerful official from the South that is one of the two "immortals" or masterminds…
Although, I would really enjoy it if somehow it is Zhao Li who was involved with this other immortal. He could be pretending with the simple act, he is well hidden, knows of ZBY & WB's abilities and is in a position to push them into the game.
So we know that Zou Mian is the powerful official from the South that is one of the two "immortals" or masterminds…
I don't think any of the characters revealed yet have the potential to be Zou Mian's enemy. Perhaps, a minister leading the loyalists of the court or a contendor for the throne will enter the scene soon. Anyways, the mystery is delicious! The set-up makes it feel like there really are big stakes involved.
definitely read the novel... you may be traumatised by LJX's ending but it shows a lot more LJX and his thoughts/feelings.…
Yeah! In the novel, he was a really smart cookie & a formidable enemy. They've toned down his massive abilities & poitical position by a lot. Ships aside, his was an intriguing character.
This series is actually living up to its trailer! ๐๐ผ It seems like they've managed to pick up the best bits from the novel & spin it into a good plot. I like the suspense of the whodunnit for the MC's mother, especially now with the 1st house's aunt thrown into the mix & the suspense of who the MC really is...
Is liking an ML as the red flag character deems fans who are excited to watch more as bad people? And liking such…
Took the keys right off my keyboard! Well said. She's smart & a survivor. He has an all-consuming goal. Their meeting may lead to romance in the future, but one can wait for the story to develop. Everything shouldn't be judged by 21st Ce's standards or in green vs red.
And, a story depicting some political intrigue cannot be expected to unfold only to showcase the romance. Pawns are meant to be sacrificed, and she is one for both MLs at the moment. Whether she can reach the end of the board or not is yet to be seen. I really hope her character development will be worth watching!
The pace is just right, not slow. The story is heading towards the female leads establishing a stronger position for themselves as lawyers & the original case is progressing in the background. No episode has been boring so far!

The ML not being the super-smart, super-powerful character all the time & the storyline not being too gud - are 2 different things.
I adored the former concept & for its sake will endure the latter for awhile more!
Wot can I say ๐คท ๐, to each their own I guess
