I love this review on Doona " From breathtaking landscapes to meticulously designed sets, every frame is a visual treat that contributes to the immersive experience. The cinematography skillfully captures the emotional nuances of the characters, creating a visual language that speaks volumes without words.
Beyond its captivating story and exceptional production, Doona also tackles relevant social issues, adding a layer of depth to its narrative. The drama explores themes of identity, societal expectations, and the consequences of choices, offering viewers a thought-provoking reflection on the human condition. Doona is not your typical romance or mystery drama, but a piece of art that leaves a lasting impact on its audience." https://twitter.com/ScreenBoxIndia/status/1734831115683148112
I'm enjoying the drama so far even though I am new to Xianxia, I'm having no problem following the plot. I really like episode 6, love the tender moments between Ayin and Gujin.
Finished watching 4 episodes on Viki and I'm loving it. Xianxia is not my favorite genre and I'd dropped other series but TLI has kept me interested in continuing. Love Ayin and Gujin's dynamic so far, and can't wait to see their developing relationship.
Doona's rating really shows that the Kdrama fandom became a joke. Most of them just hate great storytelling, meaningful…
I agree. I copied one of the comments from YT re Doona "To understand Doona appropriately, you'll need to watch the entire drama 2 or 3 times (at least twice) with good English subtitles. I suggest watching it on Netflix if you have access because those are the official subtitles, but I would defer to a native Korean speaker on the issue of accurate translation. Incidentally, my girlfriend is a native Korean born, raised, and educated in Korea with a PhD. But she's not into Korean dramas, so I'm left on my own and at the mercy of Koreans here who have spoken about different translations. but I have a Ph.D. in literature and have taught film in 1/3 of my over 36 college courses taught with thousands of students in them. Of course, to write authoritatively about Doona I would have to seriously study all 9 episodes about 6 times. I think 3 times I've watched Doona "fur fun" have been amazing. It really needs to be watched at least 2 times to "get it". "
This is my take on the drama I’ve got a lot to say about it, just to be clear this is my own opinion and I understand…
I agree with you. I've watched Doona 4x and the more I watched, the more I appreciated the directing, cinematography, storytelling, acting and the chemistry between Suzy and Yang Sejong. The director recommended Normal People series to his leads as a reference for youth romance, and I could see the similarities between the two series. I am fine with the open ending, though I'd like to think that Doona and Wonju will meet up again and resume their relationship for their love is very strong.
Love , LOVE this drama! Suzy soo gorgeous! I just returned from a trip to Seoul and started watching this drama..…
I've watched Doona 3 times and realized that I've missed the subtle details, made me appreciate the director even more for creating such artistic and breathtaking visuals. My all time favorite pairing, Suzy and Yang Sejong who were so amazingly together, they truly embodied their characters 100%.
I too love everything about. this drama.. superb chemistry and the love scenes so tender and believable unlike…
They filmed two endings, open and happy endings but the director chose the open ending and left it to the viewers to interpret. Wonju and Doona did not end up together in the webtoon. For me, either ending is fine. Realistically they are in different worlds, Wonju only wants a normal life and Doona is a famous idol. But who knows what the future might hold, they could be back together at some point in the future, their love is so strong and they still love each other after 4 years separation. And I agree with you, this drama is not the typical kdrama, I was looking for something different and unique and Doona delivered. I gave it 10/10.
I absolutely love everything about this drama. I've found it quite refreshing and different from other k-dramas and it has become my all time favorite. In my opinion, the chemistry between Suzy and Yang Se Jong is the best that I've seen. I certainly hope that they will co-star in another project in the future. Kudos to director Lee Jeong Hyo, the cast and production team for creating an unforgettable drama. This drama has a similar vibe as Normal People, I'm not surprised that Doona's director recommended it to his leads as reference for youth romance.
