When we're so emotionally invested in a drama's characters and their stories, then the drama has achieved what it intended to do. There have been very few dramas that I rewatched, and TSOPG is one of them.

That is a lovely review and I enjoyed reading it. This drama evoked so many thoughts and emotions that it took time for me to digest, re-think and re-analyze. But that is exactly why I love TSOPG, and I'll be rewatching for sure.

It's the highest Global ranking that a Cdrama like HL ever achieved. These ranking fluctuates during airing. As TSOPG is currently at 14th place, the highest it has reached. So it could go higher or lower.
"Netflix ranking primarily uses a metric called "views," which is calculated by dividing the total hours viewed of a title by its runtime, essentially giving more weight to shows with high engagement per viewing hour, rather than just total viewing time; this is displayed on their "Top 10" lists, with higher "views" indicating a more popular title on the platform." I don't know HL ranking in the US, didn't pay attention at the time.

Su Muzhe wanted to be with Yan Zijing, and set out to go back to the western regions with him. She left the Guild leadership role to Cui Shi Jiu for that reason. It make sense to me that she gave up the position. Her desire was to be with Yan Zijing until his last breath, then she continued doing what she had always wanted to do, to be free and travel around the world doing business, being a successful merchant.

For people that have not seen the ending. I personally didn't feel sad like I thought that I would. I believe that Su Muzhe and Yan Zijing set out together for the western regions (back to their roots) after the jewel exhibition. Each of them accomplished their goals, her wanting to be free, successful and traveling around the world, him getting justice for his family and restoring its name and honor. In ep 40, just before the jewel exhibition, there's a quick glimpse of the two purple stars meeting each other. To me, it's a hint that the two of them were destined to be together until 'death do us part.'
