"Our series is a Chinese ancient costume drama adapted from the IP of the well-known Chinese author Shui Qiancheng. It is invested, produced and distributed by a Thai company, directed by a director from Taiwan, China, and jointly produced by the art and costume team of mainland China."
They might have cut Xiao Yu's storyline out 🤷♀️Xiao Bao's mom appeared briefly in the trailer though
I had to look it up because I couldn't remember if they mentioned her age. They definitely call her a 'child' and a 'little girl', (she cries, throws tantrums and gets picked up too); later, Xiao Bao tells her she'll get married in four or five years... given the time period that probably makes her about 8 or 9...? I remember the plan was to have them marry when she came of age.
The production company posted on IG that they're at the World Content Market with it this weekend, so presumably…
Basically, the producers have to find channels/streaming services willing to buy the show. So for now we just have to wait and hope it will find a home :)
The storyline is pretty simple really; Xiao Bao is a happy-go-lucky spoiled young master who falls in love with a beauty he mistakes for a woman and rescues 'her' from a fight, declaring that he'll make 'her' his wife. (He's pretty sheltered and oblivious to what's going on around him - he's also chubby, which they seem to be leaving out of the series.) An incident occurs where he discovers the truth and shortly after that his whole world gets turned upside down. Without giving too much away, there's some pretty tragic and heartbreaking scenes in the novel, but there's also some action and fluff too.
Any new updates about the airing? Q2 or Q3? Since it's almost June should we expecting it to air after July?

hey, does anyone know if there is some special episode thats out?? as on youku website its written SP11 next to…
They re-edited the first part of episode 11 and released it as an alternate version (special episode) the episode is largely the same but the editing flows better now (IMO) :)
This was such an exceptionally beautiful series that I had to create an account just so I could comment about it! I've seen a lot of negative viewpoints about the relationship and wanted to offer my perspective. While, early on, Yuan was struggling to come to terms with his feelings and learn to understand himself and his longing for Qian, Qian was simply taking on the role of protector and treated Yuan solely as a younger brother as he'd always done (despite Yuan's continual efforts to be seen as an equal partner and contributor to their relationship). Yuan's journey of self discovery took time, and it was clear he suffered a lot of internal conflict before his feelings eventually exploded and he confessed.
For me it was the four year break in their familial relationship that allowed the dynamic to change for Qian. It made him realise how much he missed Yuan in his life and afforded him the time to consider (albiet initially) how he could begin to interpret those feelings. I don't think he would have told Yuan he could return home if he wasn't willing to at least consider the possibility of stepping beyond his boundaries (but still with a great degree of uncertainty and confusion on his part). From the reunion that followed, we were able to see the progression of a romantic relationship from both sides (I felt the subtleties of Qian's trepidation and curiosity as he began to view Yuan differently were beautifully delivered by Chris Chiu - he was perfect in this role).
In spite of the characters growing up together for part of their lives, it's essentially an exploration in how relationships can change and develop in complexity over time. It took Qian a lot of time and soul searching before he could determine his emotions and think to act on them. In friends to lovers tropes it's not so dissimilar a pattern. The slow-burn of tension and longing between them culminated in a mutual love that felt as though it was earned.
I'm a huge fan of Ahn Pan-seok's work (Something in the Rain, One Spring Night) and I feel Unknown shares some similarities; evoking an intimate portrayal of complex human emotion, while affirming just how life-changing, unstoppable, heartbreaking, and exquisite, love can be.
Stunning. Loved it and still not over it. The acting and directing were superb. The editing... well... until episode 11 I had no complaints! (I could have done without the childhood flashbacks - perhaps, at least limiting the footage to Yuan as an adult might have been the better option!!)
Still, thrilled they got their happy ending, and thrilled I got to see it. :)
