Do not let negative comments turn you away, watch it!
I usually do not write reviews in a way that feels like I am trying to sell a series, but with how many negative comments The Sign gets, I genuinely want more people to give it a chance. It is absolutely worth watching, even with its flaws. Especially when other series with much bigger issues including romanticizing abuse or crossing serious lines, get hyped like they are flawless masterpieces. If those shows can be praised, then a genuinely different and unique series like this deserves hype too.
The series aimed high, trying to juggle action, fantasy, romance, and crime and in my opinion, that is exactly what made it memorable. The actors did a great job, especially with how many different settings, tones and emotional shifts they had to handle.
The mythology was a nice touch and really helped the series feel unique, though I admit I laughed a few times at the costumes and dramatic angry screams. The ending was finished enough for the plot, but emotionally I wanted more. Two extra episodes showing what actually happened afterward, especially reunions with friends, coworkers, and family, would have made it much more satisfying. At the same time, some episodes in the middle could have been merged, cuz some parts of the story felt a bit dragged out. One thing I personally wished for was to see more of the powers being shown, especially from all the characters who actually have them, considering how important they are to the story.
I also know some people heavily criticized the series over nudity, but honestly, this is an Idol Factory production. I did not expect anything different. If that made someone uncomfortable or disappointed, then this series was simply not for them.
Overall, The Sign deserves to be watched. Do not let negative comments turn you away. It is different, ambitious, and genuinely entertaining.
