Comedy via second-hand embarrassment and miscommunication - but still quite fun and cute

Do you like comedy? Not worried about second-hand embarrassment? Ok with misunderstanding and miscommunication? Well then, “My Bias, My Boss” might be the drama for you. It’s full of typical rom-com cliches and tropes and it’s quite an easy watch. Yes, there are frustrating moments, but for the most part, the predictability of how the romance goes could be a relief for many who are looking for something light.
It did take me a while to get used to the comedy. It’s a little over-the-top (but not too bad), with slow-motion, heart-fluttering, romantic moments and those accidental falls and catches. It is actually kinda cute and I did have a great time watching it. But, it really depends on your mood and if you are looking for something like this.
The love triangle is not bad. I’ve always been on Team CEO since I find him adorkable and more attractive than the Bias. It’s debatable whether Mr. Bias really did fall in love with Ms. Fangirl or just an appreciation of the support she’s given him all those 12 years. Even if it’s not the romance, it is heartwarming to see how Mr. Bias and Ms. Fangirl unknowingly supported each other and are each other's reason to continue on through some challenging times. It is a special bond.
I love the development of Mr. CEO and Ms. Fangirl’s romance. I especially like that special moment when she realizes where her heart really belongs. The journal scene was lovely. It’s good to see the affection is not solely due to her memories, but there’s also some evidence. I am also glad that Mr. CEO remains Mr. CEO during a crisis, instead of being a lovesick puppy who thinks with his heart and not his brain. Unfortunately, as with most romances, I am more interested in the couple before they get together than after. There weren't enough cute and fluffy scenes before we got hit with an ex-gf’s return. Mr. Bias is being really childish here by doing something that could hurt his best friend (who is the reason he’s not bullied and isolated) and his super fangirl (who supports him for 12 years). Mr. CEO is not any better. He could have done a better job explaining without sharing sensitive information. And of course, Ms. Fangirl could have been more trusting. But overall, the pace of the drama is fast and everything gets resolved within an episode or so.
The business side of the plot is decent. I enjoy the small business stories in the first half of the drama. It’s more than just proposals and presentations, but it shines a spotlight on the challenges of some small business owners. But the business plot in the second half is not as fun. The mystery of a spy isn’t that mysterious nor does it make the drama more exciting. The last two episodes are so predictable that I’ve seen them so many times.
Overall, this is a decent and light watch. I would only recommend it if you are looking for a stress-reliever and are fine with humor through second-hand embarrassment and miscommunication. Given I have quite a fun time watching it and am looking for an easy drama, this one fits the bill.
