This title seems realllly familiar.... isn't it the title of the drama the FL in Touch Your Heart wanted to act in so badly, and thats why she joins the law firm and all? I'm pretty sure the name is the same...
The subs are garbage but the plot and concept is soooooo good!!! I'd love a full-length version - and I didn't expect a short series like this one to have such good actors!
I didn't expect to like this one. I knew it was going to be outrageous and silly and long, and it was. It ranges from fluffy to extreme cringe to, well - downright illegal, but it's fun to watch with your brain turned off. I think its main charm is the actors. They're actually really good. Cliche dramas like this NEED good actors to sell the story, and this one does. They were stiff at first but it gets better.
I honestly didn't expect to get emotionally attached to it, but "Can I be your mayfly?" and that whole scene WRECKED me. The emotions, actions and dialogues were beautiful. It's like the writers were saving up on brain cells while writing the entire silly ploy just to use them for that scene.
This is such a well-thought-out article! 😍 It's so easy for things to get lost in translation 🥲
I didn't think Boys Over Flowers was a bad name, though... I thought of it as "I'd rather have the guy than the flowers(flattery/fake love)", which is pretty acceptable, IMO. I've actually started to like the weirdness of drama titles. The silly/outrageous ones pique my interest, even though they can be misleading. It's funny to see how they try to adapt some idioms into equivalent English phrases. Though it IS sad to see a little of the cultural context go away. I've accepted the fact that I will just have to live at a disadvantage since I was the one who decided to watch dramas in a language I didn't know at all. However, I will always be thankful to the thoughtful translators who put in little notes explaining context, idioms and native phrases. I try to do that as much as possible, too.
I can't say anything about how to change a drama title since that's decided by the production company, but about subtitles.... isn't it acceptable to use a Korean word when there is no English equivalent (for words like aegyo)? I think it just helps people understand more about the culture, and the nuances behind the word. I didn't know much Korean when I learned what "aegyo" and "oppa" meant, but I slowly understood both the literal meaning and the cultural significance. I would have HATED to translate "oppa" to "brother" or just drop the honorific, because the entire significance of the word just vanishes. I think using native words is acceptable, as long as we put a little translator's note to go along with it for international viewers.
Wait that is not correct at all... doubt I will be able to look past the terrible inconsistency - if the character turns out to have no mental retardation or learning difficulties, I will seriously start to question tvN's choices
I won't really put my money on it. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge fan of Hyolyn...been following her since her…
Yes I love her stages tooo
Also yeah theres a lot of weightage for fans choice this time - both live and global, but again - most of them are there for Hyolyn. If you check the comments anywhere, its all "hope hyolyn wins" or "i came here for _____ but ohmygoodness Hyolyn was amazing i hope she wins!" So yeah she may be underrated if you compare her to Lisa or Taeyeon, but in that competition she's one of the (if not THE) most popular contestant
There's always this one person who HAS to read between the lines and come to their own conclusions 🙄 sure,…
I srsly have no idea when confidence was considered a disadvantage or an insult to anyone(arent most annoying FLs the tropey doormats?) but ok i guess you have a problem with confident women.
And thank you for giving me an A on that essay. I appreciate the feedback.

This is the fourth or fifth article about the drama. The previous ones talked about how she's a nurse, how she used to be graceful and reserved in her college days, but circumstances made her bold and foul-mouthed. Her husband is wrongly accused and "must become more evil than the villains in order to protect himself and his family and punish bad guys". FL is supportive and goes on her own mission to clear his name and protect the family.
None of these words used to describe her are my own, they're taken directly from previous Soompi articles.
Im not stopping you from skipping. There's just no need to criticize after making assumptions

Those were two adjectives they chose to describe her with. Its not like they said shes made up only of beauty and confidence and good-for-nothing in all other aspects.
This isnt an opinion you're stating, its an assumption based on an author's choice of words. If you watched the drama and noticed that she was only valued for her beauty, THEN it becomes an opinion based on observation.

Idk, but you can also see that she gets sunbae privilege and extra consideration and respect because she is solo and a legend. Don't get me wrong, I love Hyolyn and I'm rooting for her(got interested in Queendom only because of her and Queen Taeyeon), but as a competition, I feel like it isn't fair. Kep1er literally worships her, and the others also do, but a little less conspicuously. None of them would ever disagree with her, they give extra importance to everything she says, and you saw how everyone looked when WJSN insisted on sixth place when it was the spot Hyolyn wanted.
"she is outstanding in both beauty and confidence" because a woman or wife can't be anything more than that 🙄I'm…
There's always this one person who HAS to read between the lines and come to their own conclusions 🙄 sure, they used only two adjectives, but what's so wrong about beauty and confidence?
ngl it feels a little unbalanced at this point... Hyolyn has been in the industry for more than a decade and has participated in so many shows while Kep1er is a group of literal babies. It wasn't very hard to predict the results of Round 1 at all. I also suspect that Hyolyn might win the whole thing. They should have chosen more equal groups, or left Hyolyn out. I understand that she's only solo while the others are a group but when has that ever been a big disadvantage? She has experience, and that puts her on a level high above the others
Lol wth is this how description? Spineless woman falls for guy who treats her like trash because pf a misunderstanding. Everybody sorts everything out, happily ever after.
The chances of it being a romance are low, since he did Flower of Evil before this one. He usually does one romance one no-romance so the most i expect are a few glsnces here and there
I can't believe an Indian is saying that: what about rapes happening regularly in your country and the perps get…
Then none of us are allowed to comment because of all the people kept in our jails and running free doing various crimes.... where do you live, Utopia?
