I feel Tang Jing really wronged NYS. Perhaps when she was younger, I understand her reasoning for leaving him.…
This. This is exactly what I can't understand. I feel very very bad for the sad life she had to live, but a lot of it was her own choice. I forgive her for not telling ML she was pregnant. Can't imagine how bewildered, scared and confused she would have been. Okay. Its okay.
But after that. Once the initial flood of emotions was over. Then what? She is struggling for money, the child is struggling, but she won't ask them for help. Okay. You hate his father. Don't ask for their help.
What's the deal with Zhijun? His younger self was loving and he promised to care for her. He did care for her. He seems to have adopted PingPing, because he isn't married to her. That's another weird thing. Why didn't she just marry him? Nope, she wants to keep her distance and the two of them fund Pingping's medical needs. Then somewhere along the way, Zhijun becomes a drunkard, engages in drunken fights, gets detained multiple times, falls for scams, wastes money, lies and takes Pingping to places... and TJ has to lie to him and keep secrets because he's so untrustworthy. When he takes Pingping to his doctor, TJ switches to "Do whatever you want, don't touch MY son. He's MY son." The "our" is gone. She doesn't treat him like a husband or even a good friend. More like another burden... keeping him around just so Pingping can call someone "Dad"
Then she meets ML. She shows absolutely no resistance when he kisses her. Kisses him back, then pushes him away and says she never loved him. "You have your needs, and I have mine" WTH was that? Even ML feels a twinge of remorse and apologizes to Shu Qin, even though they were in a relationship where both knew the other hadn't moved on. They break up immediately. Nothing changes at ALL on TJ-Zhijun's side.
She's sooo unpredictable. You never know when she'll say yes or no to ML. She lets ML bond with her kid, even agrees to tell Pingping, and it's ML who tells her they should take it slowly. But she doesn't tell Zhijun anything, and i cannot fathom WHY. At this point, shouldn't she let Zhijun go? Zhijun's over there fighting for "his wife and child". The "wife" in question doesn't seem to share the same sentiment.
She goes and spills everything to Mark, out of all the people she could go to. Even Shu Qin was a better option. I wonder how I would have felt about Mark if i didn't come to this drama already crazy in love with Wayne Wang, assuming he was a good character. IDK. Telling her to choose between PingPing and NYS was the dumbest advice i have ever heard. ML keeps trying to be transparent with her, and idk what's going on in her head. Her mixed signals would drive anyone insane. I just don't understand her reasoning.
I also don't understand why the heck the grandpa has so much power. How on earth can he take custody when a living, breathing, completely sane member of society is the biological father?!! How the heck can he take a child away from both biological parents?! And can she PLEASE decide who she wants to take the responsibility of a father? She wants NYS to be the father but she won't let go of Zhijun and she also won't give joint custody to NYS?
(caught up till Ep 18)Question: Can ML's father mount an attack and start a custody battle without ML having a say in the matter? Isn't ML the biological father, and shouldn't he have the upper hand in case his dad starts a custody battle and tries to take the child away? I don't understand how the grandfather can take the child away if both the biological parents are against it and legally sane/trustworthy.
Sigh. ML and FL should just talk about this together. TJ never tells him when NDY subtly attacks her. I understand that she doesn't trust him yet, but logically, isn't he her best ally when it comes to fighting with his dad? How is he supposed to defend her properly when he doesn't completely know her side of the story? He's being as transparent as possible because he knows she doesn't completely trust him... she responds when he kisses her, then pushes him away... he's walking on eggshells and, to his credit, he's doing it pretty well till now. We're the ones who know exactly what she's going through, not him.
TJ should at least confirm what his stance on the matter is - he told her what he thought but she didn't respond. She isn't asking him the important questions, nor is she telling him important things. I think she should have told him what she said to Fangting. SFT hates NDY but doesn't know what kind of person NYS is. He gave advice assuming NYS is exactly like his father. What kind of relationship does he have with NYS? He hates his NYS' father and was jealous of NYS dating his ex. Biased much?
Telling her to choose blindly between NYS and PingPing was a jerk move. If SFT really, seriously wants to give accurate advice without involving NYS(idk about this weird drama logic where everyone just conveniently refuses to tell him anything when he has primary contact with the enemy), he should at least talk to his own girlfriend. Shu Qin knows NYS. She's his best friend, and she's smart and reliable. She's made it clear that she has zero romantic feelings toward NYS.
imo the ML is methodical rather than weak. He has a plan for getting back with TJ and does not want to further…
I agree. He doesn't do things on impulse. I'm still mad about everyone keeping him in the dark, but I think he's handling things pretty well. Tan Jing never tells him when his dad threatens her. How is he supposed to plan his next course of action if both his dad and TJ aren't telling him anything? He doesn't have any concrete evidence about the accident, so it's understandable that he isn't having a face-off with his dad about it. Yelling at or alienating his father would be a stupid decision, because I'm sure ML knows his dad can be a scheming jerk. Keeping an enemy close by would be a lot better than not knowing his next course of action. If ML is able to get concrete evidence on his father's evil deeds, he'll be able to get the upper hand. I don't know what the outcome of getting his dad's help for a lawyer will be.
His dad shouldn't have been in the room, and ML shouldn't have made a promise that his dad wouldn't see PingPing again, but I think ML handled that encounter very well too. It would have been incredibly stupid and immature of him to yell at his father in front of the child, who trusts and likes NDY. I liked the way he didn't allow his dad to finish the story but subtly sent him away, without alarming either patient - NDY or Ping Ping. It was night-time and he was also being considerate of the patient in the next bed.
ML going to his father for help was the foolish mistake, yet there was no other way. It has given ML father edge…
She isn't the type of character to scream and shout, but she accomplishes whatever she sets out to do. Haven't you seen how she hurts him? She also knows she's doing it. She hurts him with her words, while he hurt her with his actions. Her personality is just different from a lot of loud characters, so I get why you're wondering why she doesn't yell.
Sun Zhijun is a nice man, but I can't say he's better than ML or that he's a saint. The family would have been a LOT more well off if he wasn't such a parasitic drunkard - and I'm letting him use his "i don't know how to earn a living" excuse. He's been detained multiple times. He comes home drunk. That can't have a positive impact on a young child like Pingping. He also sees how his mom suffers with him.
All the characters are pretty grey and realistic... except for NDY ofc
YG would never screw her over, but he also won't tell her what to do. He's going to respect her wishes like he…
oh, I'm not a fan of this show - i just like discussing human behavior. I hope you don't feel like I'm attacking you, because that isn't my intention 😅
I wasn't saying guys overworking was a good thing. I said that was the coping mechanism portrayed in most dramas. Of course it's a bad thing - the entire drama usually focuses on how the FL makes them realize that there's more to life than work and money.
Another thing - we can't expect every drama to have all kinds of characters. In the case of Seryeon - this isn't about which gender likes rich people. The men in her life wanted to aquire her wealth and gain an advantage in YG's company. A woman running after a rich man(case in point - Sara) isn't looking to aquire YG's wealth or make profits for her company. Once she marries him, she's just looking to benefit off his wealth and status without working for it. Yes, YG inherited money and the company. But he also inherited the responsibilities and CEO position that came with it. He's working to keep the money and manage the company. I haven't seen Seryeon working much - if she had the time to work at DD's family restaurant and there were no repurcussions when her mom locked her in a room for a long time, it means she doesn't work much. She isn't a career oriented person, unlike the women portrayed in dramas like Search WWW. Seryeon with money is a business strategy to the men who tried to marry her. YG with money is a never-ending free flow of money to Sara, WDR, and Sara's mom.
After Seryeon gave up her shares, the men lost the business asset. Why did that jackass' grip loosen when she told him she had given up her shares, since she's still a daughter of a rich family? Because he lost the chance to gain an advantage in FT Group. If he marries her now, she's still a wealthy woman but there's no point taking her money - he has enough. Why is WDR against Dae Bom but not the rich guys? Because she - and everyone else - saw him as a parasite, since he didn't have a job. There are lots of women CEOs/ women with careers they built in dramaland. Having them give up their companies/careers just to run after men, in most cases, would be stupid and irresponsible.
YG would never screw her over, but he also won't tell her what to do. He's going to respect her wishes like he…
It IS hard to trust people when you know they could be looking for the money that comes with you without really caring about you as a person. I'm sure that if SR asked YG to give her half the company, he would. Just because she gave up her shares doesn't mean she can't buy more. I like the way YG remains a brother and doesn't try to be her father's He let's her decide things in her own. Heck, he let's her have her way with her mother even though she's a pain in his neck.
As for the gender thing, aren't there a lot of stories with things going different ways? Most of the MLs choose to shut themselves off and focus only on work, living in distrust of people. SR seems to want a relationship, so she still keeps herself open. There ARE a lot of stories about rich guys giving up their rights/money/status that comes with being born in a rich family for love. Examples? Emergency Couple, Because of Love, 18 Again(he wasn't exactly rich but the family was well off - he chose to cut off contact with his father who disapproved of him dropping out of high school to marry and take care of his pregnant girlfriend - in the end, his wife is able to rebuild her dream career while he chooses to give his old dreams up), Suspicious Partner(ML chooses to let his career and status get destroyed for justice' sake - he has to start all over again from scratch)...
I think things also stem from the fact that women usually expect their ideal men to be rich and successful, while it's not always the case with the genders reversed. Isn't that why the poor girl-rich guy trope is so popular?
I don't like where this is going...they are making her so pitryful and his father giving uper hand. I guess that…
Are we on the same Ep 16? Or have you watched further?
When has she ever NOT stood up for herself? She stood her ground in front of ML's father. She didn't let people at the hospital or workplace push her around. She's the one pushing ML away. It's just Sun Zhijun - and that's probably because she feels indebted to him or something.
"ML does nothing to protect her" excuse me she never told him why she broke up with him so brutally. Even when he didn't know what happened, he fought Sun Zhijun for mistreating her right in front of all the patients in the lobby and pleaded with the doctors in favor of Pingping, never stopping to think about his reputation for one second. He isn't even nice to his father - hasn't visited him after he found out. Even when he didn't know why TJ left him, he had an inkling that his dad was involved and stopped talking to him. After the dad managed to get rid of TJ, NYS never obeyed any of his wishes - he went on to become a doctor and he already said he wants nothing to do with his father's business. After he found out his dad is the villain here, he's been investigating the case. He's given her the keys to his house and takes care of her as much as he can. He will literally do anything for her if she asks.
yelling and blaming everyone doesn't always solve problems. It just shows immaturity. She solves her problems very well - she's silent but very firm. I like her - except for her weirdass "it's not meant to be" thought process
i honestly have stopped pitying her. This drama seemed to be so mature that I started to have high hopes. I thought…
Yeah, whatever may have happened then, what about NOW? Why is she still sending him mixed signals? Kissing him and then pushing him away IDK what her logic is anymore
i honestly have stopped pitying her. This drama seemed to be so mature that I started to have high hopes. I thought…
I KNOW! What drives me over the edge is the fact that she kisses him back and reciprocates whenever he initiates something, but then she pushes him away and says she doesn't love him or whatever. I can't imagine how bewildered. confused and insane I would get if someone acted like that towards me! The poor guy really didn't do anything and it hurts to watch. I'm okay with enduring tragedy when it's justified, but this makes no sense at all and is starting to get annoying. The same goes for the other couple, why is Wayne sending so many mixed signals?!!
It's not even like he loves his father too much to see his faults. He's still rebelling against him, and definitely not the type to stay quiet if his dad mistreats someone.
And I'm sorry if I'm slow, but was that wedding a dream sequence or something? All this time, I'm still wondering whether it was real or not. Were they married or not?
Why don’t Chairman’s sister take her mother with her and put up with her ways why should that be on Chairman’s…
THATS WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND! Se Ryun has such a huge ass house and she's keeping her mom in HIS house?! WHY
Why is she going to such lengths to let WDR live in her imaginary role of "FT Group's first wife"? If someone doesn't physically KICK that woman out of the house, idk what I'm going to do.
I just finished episode 16 and my thought was TJ you better not hurt NYS again. I can't find a reason why she…
i honestly have stopped pitying her. This drama seemed to be so mature that I started to have high hopes. I thought she'd have a seriously good reason for breaking up with him but the HECK really?! this reason is the same as half the other dramas out there 🙄 there had better be some aspect about this that we don't know because if that's the whole reason I'm really going to get angry with her. I feel sooooooo bad for NYS! the poor guy is so broken and confused and nothing is his fault -_- I just can't understand her reasoning.
Someone on the Viki TCs commented "The writers are just having fun writing Wang Dae Ran, the completely bonkers old witch" and I agree. She's just so comically terrible, as a drama character
And the writers really have to add in every single cliche in the book no matter what 😂 WDR splashing water on DD was just hilarious
But after that. Once the initial flood of emotions was over. Then what? She is struggling for money, the child is struggling, but she won't ask them for help. Okay. You hate his father. Don't ask for their help.
