You are My Hero really was a wonderful drama. Main leads had a very healthy relationship. However, I felt uncomfortable more than once with the second couple... but I guess that's for another time if we discuss women being stalkers/assaulters. I find that pattern in so many cdramas... main couple is either healthy or has a dominant ML, while second couple has a dominant female.

I nearly died while watching Perfect and Casual, where the ML ASKS, I repeat, a C-DRAMA ML ASKS before touching FL. HE ASKS! TO HOLD HER! IT WASN'T EVEN A KISS SCENE!

Also, there seems to be quite a thin line with the jealousy trope. When done in moderation and with logic, it's cute. But sometimes it's just way too childish, creepy and uncomfortable. Same goes with the "invisible helping hand" trope.

ikr I agree with you. If it's executed well, I can watch almost anything. And I LOVE it when the CEOs do a 180.
If you're into more serious/melodramatic types, you might like The Bond(family drama). The production quality is amazing. I don't usually enjoy melodrama but this family was very sweet, the characters were complex, and the issues they tackled were thought-provoking.

Actually it seems to be the chinese drama type. Very few dramas have that independent woman. And actually in real…
I beg to differ. C-dramas take two extremes:
1. Make the FL a weak doormat with no brain whatsoever
2. Make the FL "independent," in other words, terribly annoying because she thinks what she's doing is always right and hates criticism. Ends up with ML constantly cleaning up after the messes she makes. Or she just plays ML like a puppet. If ML is sweet, she takes advantage. I call it Entitled FL Syndrome. Just because she's FL, she thinks everyone needs to fall at her feet and make her feel comfortable.

There is a separate genre in cdramas called the "domineering CEO" genre. You can't really expect good relationship dynamics in them because "domineering" is toxic in itself. So don't go near them if you don't like them. And don't generalize all men in real life. There are lots and lots of men who are powerful in their careers but are very good husbands and fathers.

For good relationship dynamics, I'd recommend
- The Imperial Coroner(ML has a high post but very good to all his subordinates)
- You are My Hero(ML is a military commander while FL is a neurosurgeon)
- Under the Power(kick-ass warrior couple)
- Ashes of Love (ML is one of the most powerful deities and FL starts out without many powers but becomes an extremely powerful deity)
- Maiden Holmes (detective couple)
- Love Me If You Dare
- My Little Happiness (ML is a doctor, FL is a lawyer)
- Oh! My Sweet Liar! (drama is a riot, ML is powerful but quite nice)
- Perfect and Casual (ML is a professor and FL is his ex-student but he never makes her feel beneath his level, respects her a lot. He strength is her EQ)

With whom semei end up with after cheater husband. Don't tell me she end up with him and is there any romance…
She didn't end up with him but there's no hint of any other guy coming into the picture. She divorced him but he's always there to take care of their kid and help around. At the end, we can see he's become more responsible and she is a little less angry with him, that's all. It's an open ending for her relationship.

IKR I thought they would draw out the revelation that Sa Ra was Sejong's mom but nooooooo they just kept revealing…
It's definitely for older viewers. These are Korean soaps. That's why their viewership is so high. On MDL, we'll have mostly int'l viewers so the ratings will be more reliable.

I am so incredibly fed up with Hyun-Soo right now. He is supposed to be this somewhat (or highly?) intelligent…
I think that's another example of good writing. It isn't easy to suddenly stop doing what you've done for years. Till the end, we see him taking baby steps towards being a good husband. His inner struggle between telling her stuff and trying to "protect" her by keeping secrets is not completely over. I don't think it was because he didn't trust her. He was her "safe place," and he was taking the usual noble-idiocy path by hiding dangerous things from her because he knew that was how she perceived him. "She believes only what she sees." Old habits die hard.

As a viewer, it was slightly frustrating, but it would have been unrealistic for him to do a full about-turn all of a sudden. For a fully satisfying ending, the writers could have done a time-skip to show us the improvement after a few years.

what do you mean...
That's because it really swept a lot of people(me included) off their feet. The emotions were so raw and some scenes were just epic. Production was top-notch, acting was AMAZING, plot was intricate, and the OST had only three songs, but very memorable.

Melo-King LOL this is going to echo in my head every time I see him now 😂😂 He's got incredible loads of potential to be the king of any genre. It's worth waiting for his rom-coms, if they ever come. You're right, he's terrific at emotional scenes. The angst is palpable. He made me weep at the end of every 18 Again episode.

Yes, in the article I read, it said that a bell rang inside the church as soon as someone dropped a child off. The pastor and counsellors meet with the parents and try to talk to them. Some take them back, and the church takes the rest.

I never said I didn't want it to air. I was stating my personal opinion and wariness about the drama. I think that's allowed when the drama hasn't started airing yet.
And none of what I wrote was written as a complaint. Why are you trying to draw out more than what I typed? I said I miss him in rom-coms. And I don't like teacher-student dramas. End of story. Why would I hate on perfectly good writers and actors? I wasn't going to come back to this page, either.

Have a nice day. It's not like I'm trying to stop anyone from watching it.

The ending. OHHHHHH the ending. It was PERFECT. Sooooo nice of them to end with that long drone shot of the cast and crew waving goodbye at us viewers. I sat there weeping tears of joy. Lovely, meaningful, hilarious, heartwarming, heart-fluttering, slow-burn romantic drama with amazing supporting characters. It had the essence of those good old k-dramas we're seeing less and less of nowadays.

Dude, you obviously misunderstood that entire part of the plot. He did it on purpose because he misunderstood…
I know he wanted to help that girl. But it was the manager who instructed for that to happen. The manager wanted that girl in the spotlight, and asked ML to plan something to achieve that. ML just didn't care about the FL and didn't think his sister was fit for showbiz. He never plotted anything against the two. He just heartlessly followed instructions.

This is like putting all the blame on soldiers who carry out the executions of innocent people. Yeah sure, they're the ones who do the dirty work. But it's the real evil people in the high positions who command them to do that. They just follow along.

It’s a revenge story not noona romance but here we go again many will still complain whenever Lee Do Hyun does…
I don't think Lee Do Hyun is the problem here. I still haven't seen anyone in the comments or TCs of his other dramas or anywhere on social media hating on him. Everyone acknowledges the fact that he's a brilliant actor. If you check his list of dramas, every single one of them is popular or with an A-list actor in the main cast.

Fans first took notice of him in 30 but 17, where he was adorably hilarious. Clean With Passion For Now, another rom-com. Hotel del Luna, an exception, was tragic.

His first ML role: He gained a LOT of fans from his drama 18 Again, an extra-hilarious rom-com.
His next few ML roles:
And then the next drama was Sweet Home(horror and apocalyptic), then the depressing Youth of May, and after that, Melancholia, revolving around a teacher/student sexual scandal and school corruption, and no one expects to be a comedy from it's name and description.
And now, a "sad revenge story" about bullying and brutal school violence.

More than the age gaps, it's the change in genre. I really, really want to see him in a romantic comedy again. His comedic timing is so good, and I love his goofy expressions.

the description says "sexual scandal between a student and a math teacher" and that's why I'm not watching this. Doesn't mean I'm going to go around hating it or leaving low ratings. I just miss him in rom-coms like 30 but 17 and 18 Again.

I don't feel bad for Se-Ra. She was 28 when she was pregnant with her child. Old enough to tell right from wrong…
ikr it's not like ML would throw her out or do anything bad to her if she told him Sejong is her kid. He's reasonable, intelligent, and responsible enough to make the right decisions, though even I don't know what that decision should be.

Lets be honest Both Mr Park and Anna kim haven't moved on from each other at all. Atleast Anna Kim has that guilty…
I hate the step-mom, but I still can't approve of Mr. Park with Anna Kim. I doubt he will fall for her first. If he does, I really will throw my laptop. She can be forgiven for harshly abandoning her baby and husband, but it cannot be easy. Mr. Park loved her and she loved him, but it didn't stop her from abandoning him like that.

I don't care how much you want to study and "live your life" and try to "free yourself from suffocation." What about Mr. Park? Did he get to live his life? Was his life free of suffocation? He was struggling, just like you! You can't just dump your baby into your husband's hands and leave the country without even registering the child when you KNOW it'll cause unending trouble for him. That is just too selfish and cruel. However much he loves her, she cannot just do that and expect him to chase after her again. He literally had to marry a problematic woman and stayed with her just so there was someone to take care of his baby while he worked TO THE BONE to provide for the family.

I'll ship Mr. Park with the cook a LOT faster than I'd ever ship him with Anna Kim -_-

There is currently no character I hate more than Yeong Sil, Dan Dan's stupid step-mother. What an absolutely wicked character. Never mind that her family is the reason Dan Dan and her dad are broke. Never mind that she was stupid enough to invest in a SHIPWRECKED TREASURE. Never mind that she keeps acting like a poor victim even though she's the cause for all their troubles. Never mind that she's literally a squatter, not even finding a freaking JOB to get the family out of this mess.
WHY would you invite your entire family to the house you are supposed to be HIDING at? How stupid, selfish, and cruel can a person get?

I can't understand Dae Bom. Either he's terribly stupid or he's a shameless, lazy ass JUST like his mom who mooches of his equally stupid girlfriend.

But ML is getting cuter and cuter as the episodes go by 😂 I'm totally on board with this ship.
