Could you possibly explain this comment for me a bit? I'm trying to decide if I want to watch it.
"That" scene is the one everyone is talking about and calling it "grooming" or "pedophilia." It's a scene where the young ML(who is 14 years older than FL) meets the child FL while she's trying to run away from home. I saw no problems with the scene, except that it was kinda unnecessary to add a childhood fate plotline. There were zero romantic hints and the only people who think it's "grooming" are the ones with dirty minds.
From the two episodes I watched: Ups: - I like the ML. Right now, the only reason I want to watch is for the ML. He's a good actor, too. - I like the plot's general direction. I can't wait for her to straighten out the kids. The first two are brats. The third is a cute little guy. - FL is... nice. Slightly delusional, but nice. FL's dad is an angel.
Downs: - ML lives in a big house with a housekeeper, his mom, his kids, and a house manager. The house manager is actively pursuing him. The house manager's mom is also trying to set her up with him, but they aren't working together. He has a best friend who is a woman, and the woman's mom is hell bent on setting them up(think Strong Woman DBS' mom). I hate such moms, they literally don't care at all about their daughters... would any sane mother try to force her daughter to get a rich man drunk and sleep with him so he has to marry her?! His mom is a narcissistic idiot. So right now, it feels like he's surrounded by a swarm of rich, idiotic women with only one goal in mind. IDK how he's sane.
- Remember Do Bong Soon's brother? He's a lazy idiot in this one. He seems to be naive, but he goes to a club, gets drunk, and has a one-night stand with the ML's sister. Suddenly, they both are in love the next morning. He wants to work to earn his living, but the sister convinces him not to because she's rich 🙄
- The oldest daughter is ANNOYING. I would never let my child mouth off like that, whether or not she has a mother. But I guess writers are trying to show how bad the kids are before FL comes and changes everything. Like Sound of Music... those kids were terrible at first, too.
Just finished Ep 1. I think ML is the only character I like so far, he seems the most normal. Why are so many women and their moms swarming around him, though? I can't keep track of all the people after him 😳 And two of the kids are brats. I wonder when things start taking a turn for good.
more than "that scene" y'all are talking about, I hate the way these moms push their daughters to "cross the line"... do you not care about them at all??! also, the drunk sleeping together scene... absolutely no freaking out, suddenly two strangers are in love... wth is going on?!
I second the Sound of Music vibes. I want to watch, but can’t handle an on-going show. I’ll wait till it’s…
but weekend family dramas almost never work like that :( They're not really binge-able because they're long-drawn and can drag in places. They're not the equivalent to long cdramas. This is a different genre of drama. I usually just take the plunge while it's on-air and leave if it starts getting annoying.
not sure if i should watch this one because off the trailers it looked pretty cool and i saved it to watch when…
Just watch it on-air or whenever you remember to... most weekend dramas can't be binged and aren't even made for binging. Don't expect to have cliffhangers at every episode. This is a different genre of kdrama :)
Just done with the first episode ... And I feel I got introduced to half of Korea .... Too many side characters…
Don't bother understanding who's who. It's more interesting to have billions of characters when there are 50 episodes. Since it's a weekend drama, they'll properly introduce the character when its their time to shine and explain everything. Until then, don't bother. It isn't a fast-paced 16-ep kdrama :)
Debate Night, imo, is one series that is consistently hilarious in every season 😂 It never fails to get me clutching my sides and rolling all over the floor, laughing so hard I can't laugh anymore!
It's free on Viki with subs! 🥰🥰 What a beautiful movie. The music really touched my heart. Everyone was very well cast for their respective roles.
for family drama; i'd rec https://kisskh.at/25162-romance-of-our-parents even though i've never seen it,…
Romance of our Parents seems to be a good one, but like you said, it doesn't seem to have good subs since it's from 2014. I don't like noona romances or age-gap romances in general... my favorite type is when both are in their 30s.
The Day of Becoming You looks SO interesting! Thanks for the recc, I'll check it out! I love Steven Zhang^^
I LOVED the subtle way everything changes! I'd only notice now and then, feeling nostalgic every time! What are…
Do you know that Forever and Ever is a sequel? You might want to watch the first season(One and Only) while you're waiting :)
I gave up searching for dramas like The Bond (I didn't get pulled into Heard it Through The Grapevine much )... family dramas are always hit-and-miss! I started You Are My Glory but I don't enjoy it as much as everyone seems to be enjoying it.
