Yeah I get that it’s the concept and is necessary for the drama to make sense.

I just feel like they are doing it in a way that really makes the show feel a bit stale in the middle when it should feel really fresh and fun with these actors.

I guess I don’t disagree with the overall premise - I just think the execution is a bit lacklustre.

I’d say it’s always very obvious that the mains only like each other. Especially With the ML.

The other two second leads try to get in the way and the FL lets them bc she wants the story to progress so she can get home. But I don’t think for a second you believe the two leads love anyone but each other. Hope that helps!

Right?! I’ve been thinking and it almost feels like the writers are being lazy and thinking of this as another drama to just churn out.

But with such amazing actors you could do so much! Even the addition of the leader of the rebels (I forget his name) but he is so funny! The group dynamic could be so cute! Hope it will be in the end but I have a sad feeling it won’t be.

Bummed this is missing the mark.

I’m at episode 14 and while I REALLY love the characters and the humour I’m getting a little frustrated at the lack of romantic interactions. It kinda feels like we are stuck in a loop of him being in love with her, her pushing him away, her spending too much time with Pie Hung or her trying to set him up with Chu Chu and then the main couple arguing.

They have two amazing actors with actual great chemistry - both humour and romantic! why waste it like this when you only have 24 eps? :(

I guess my point is this is a good show but could be great if the writers get it together and progress the love line. Sigh. Lol.

But shout out to Zi Rui and Bai Ji who are KILLING IT!! They have me in hysterics every episode!!!

Well I’m at 31 now and I am liking it a whole lot more. I started actually liking it at ep 20! Still not as obsessed as the rest seem to be sadly! I’m hoping there are more scenes between the mains in the next 20 eps bc their chemistry is what is keeping me hooked!

Thanks so much! I think bc it launched into the world so quickly it was hard for me to understand the politics and then didn’t fully understand why the characters were following the Wen. So good to know that they are way more powerful!

I probably needed a little more backstory to completely understand the motives but who has time for that lol!

I’m going to continue today and no matter what I’ll watch till the end so thanks for the advice!

Okay hot take after episode 11 (don’t hate me!):

Why am I frustrated with this? All the reviews are so amazing and yes, I really love the mains already - I can really tell I’ll love them even more in future. But the plot is seriously getting to me.

Why is the Wen clan so openly evil and no other clan is like - hey should we maybe get together and all join forces to suppress these crazy kids? Also the Lan Clan had ample time to prepare for an attack (I mean even I was like - yo get your house in order friends - and that was back in ep like 7) It also seems absolutely ludicrous that you would send all the heirs to the bad guys? Other than a plot point to get all the protagonists together it’s just plain dumb.

I reallllly liked the ‘monster of the week’ type vibe of them travelling and encountering all kinds of soul eaters and monsters. That was cool - more of that thnx.

And so I love our mains WY and LZ, I just want more of them together. I guess I need to slow my roll as I’m only 11 eps in of 50 haha. But Cheng annoys me as an actor and a few of the other supporting are terrible but I guess some others are fab too so maybe I should just chill. Lol.

I think I had too high expectations and need to be patient maybe? I remember being frustrated with TMOPB to begin with too and now it’s one of my all time favs.

Anyho if anyone felt like this where I’m up to but kept going and was so thankful they did - I’d love to hear from you. I REALLY want to like this and move past this frustration!

In the preview for episode 16 it shows a lady telling Seo Ri that it’s her fault that her aunt abandoned her. Then I watched all of ep 16 on Netflix and there was no scene with that convo? Does Netflix have a shorter version?

Question - why is it that some families seam to have family names while others don’t? Heaven and Ghost royals all have different names while Qing Qiu and Western Sea have the same Bia and Die?

Haha I know exactly what you mean! I wouldn’t say they have like a full on make out sesh Their kisses are good but not full on. But the kissing isn’t like that awful “hold still with our lips touching as the camera pans around us” ergh- that’s honestly the worst! And happens far too often in Cdramas!!
