Yeah that's why I am confused. But maybe it is because the typical dramas I watch are light kdramas and the historical dramas that I've watched in the past are lighter and really are more focused on the romance.

Or maybe I am watching this with huge Yibo worshipping glasses \_(ツ)_/¯

Ah I guess as I enjoy it. I typically drop what I dont like and 51 ep is too long for something I wouldn't enjoy, even if I like the actor.

I'm not sure why you don't finish it -maybe this drama isn't for you.

I thought the first episode was good, and I liked it from the first episode.
It set the tone quite well. It's fairly light, at least for the first 10 episodes (that's as far as I got, as I'm waiting for subs).

If you don't like lighter dramas, not sure if this is for you... imo the trailer was a good representation of what to expect.

well TBH that's what is so great about this site - everyone has different tastes/opinion... I think as long as everyone' s respectful, it's all good.

In my opinion, the drama is good. I guess fans were expecting something like the Untamed - but this drama is quite different (the only thing that resembles the Untamed is... Yibo's in it).

I watched the trailer and it's exactly what I expected - full of Yibo winking/smiling and Zhao Lin Ying kicking butt. It's very light.

Well I'm new to cdramas, so maybe I have different expectations than most people.

uh... it's not the Untamed (the only thing similar is that Yibo's in it). Very different feel. Watch the trailer... imo the trailer sets the tone quite well. It's a lot lighter... I like the FL. She's quite kickass

Interesting. I didn't find this drama that bad as some of these comments on this page. However, I'm a fan of both leads. (Yibo from Gank Your Heart and Zhang Li Ying from the Story of Minglan).

To me, it's refreshing to see both actors act in a different role from their previous work that I've seen them in. I am watching it from viki, and I find myself constantly refreshing to see the progress on the subs (even though they are quick, I just catch up too quickly xD). So far I'm hooked.

Yibo's character Xie Yun is fun/smart. I like how serious A'Fei is in contrast to Xie Yun's character. She's also super talented and get things done by going for what she wants. She has great courage and I really like this character.

It's a really different genre than the Story of Minglan and her character is completely different. But I find it enjoyable.

ahhh i can't wait. I've read the english translated novel up until they stopped translating and am now slowly reading the chinese one. I think the plot is interesting. I am curious how they will adapt it as transmigration isn't done in cdramas.

This comment still does not make any sense to me. As long as they're not spreading hate, I could care less that they're wasting their time rating a show that's not aired on this site. This will have no impact on the reception of the show in China. I admit, it probably affect the perception to the international audience. However, once it airs, there would be more reviewers than the two fans that gave them an average score, and it will be a wash anyways. there will be more than 2 ratings to counter this.

Maybe someone's countering measure for someone giving it a high score. I really don't like how you're blaming this on ZLY fans. How would you know that they did this unless they explicitly say that that they gave the show a "bad" review? At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter. Reviews are subjective anyways. These comments, in my opinion, makes Yibo and his fans look bad/immature. Please stop spreading rumors and hate.

err... why would her fans even care what's on MDL. And honestly, why would they want her to have such crappy reviews? I thought she's an A lister. I am guessing some stupid anti fans (of Yibo or ZLY) did this. Waste of time, in my opinion as ZLY and Yibo won't even see this site as it's in English.

I definitely liked the Weight Lifting Fairy Couple.
I just finished "The Story of Yanxi Palace" and want to see a drama with Wu Jinyan and Xu Kai as a couple.

lol Minglan was what hooked me into cdramas this year. haha it was my first historical (well first one I've finished anyways).

As a longtime kdrama fan, I think there is a difference between kdramas and cdramas. Not all dramas are focused on a love story, whereas, kdramas - most, if not all I've seen has a love square.

Jdramas are a bit more diverse than kdramas, which was why I was fan of jdramas.

If you are going to try cdramas, I suggest trying the more recent ones. In my opinion, the more recent ones are much better quality. I found the older (modern) ones had weird editing/pacing.

There are more episodes, but the episode's run time are shorter (~ 40 mins) than a kdrama (which is like 1hour and 15 mins).
