I don't even know a single actor in this one before I started it, but I can't stop watching it. It doesn't feel too "low budget." for me. I think they were smart about the game scenes, as I wasn't bored to death watching them.

Thank you for the article! The first time I've heard of him was when he sang for the OST of the Untamed. I actually thought he was a woman. lol. Then I remember watching a music program and everyone else sounded terrible live, so I thought maybe the mic sucked and then Zhou Shen came and just sounded like he did on the OST. LOL. And I remember getting so confused because I couldn't figure out if he was a man or woman, but then I realize it didn't really matter.

Afterwards, I saw Our Song. I watched it for Xiao Zhan, but Hacken Lee + Zhou Shen were a match made in heaven and I loved their personalities (and talent!). I still listen to their performances to this day. I saw Super Vocal afterwards (because of Zhou Shen, Ayunga, and Zheng Yunlong - which I discovered in Our Song 2). It was weird to see that Zhou Shen was the underdog in that one. I realize that the Bel Canto singers in China are really talented.

I have watched Chuang 2021 (partly because of Zhou Shen). After performing that theme song, he said he'd rather live than dance XD. I thought his vocals were very stable and wish he was the center LOL.

I also watched Treasured Voice S3 and he was good there. He was heart breaking during his interview after singing Womanxy. T_T. Anyways, I really like his personality - he's humorous but doesn't cross the line. He's also really talented. He seems to be a hardworker and is quite smart. I hope he continues his success.

ah so it's personal taste. I think it took me about 10 episodes to figure out who is whom. I wouldn't say it has "failed" but it isn't to your taste.

The chart has some spoilers but it's made for each episode (so you can be an episode behind, or look it up after you've finished the episode)

I find that this drama requires me to concentrate - not only on what the character says but also on the actions of the characters. Sometimes things are inferred and are not explicitly explained. It isn't quite action-packed in the beginning... I've also just started it but am midway and o_o hit a really crazy arc.

I've seen a few of these after watching some of the variety shows (quite a few of the ones you have listed are on Our Song). Zhou Shen would be my favourite partly for his talent, and partly for his personality (he is easy-going and funny). His performances are always solid (like even if other performers don't sing well for a show, he still sings well) and he sings quite a few OSTs...

I just discovered Hu Xia in Our Song 3 - and didn't realize he sang for the OST of the Story of Minglan (as part of a duet). He also seems to be a very sweet guy.

probably people were mad about the ending, but I think the ending was good. I'd be kinda annoyed if they just threw in a cheap happy ending.

Yeah their relationship was so toxic. I wanted to tell Qin Yue that she deserves better but she keeps crawling back and I just assumed it's cuz he's great in bed. xD I was so happy when she said enough is enough but then she seemed to be crawling back towards the end.

I read novels but not sure if my favourites would translate well into cdrama. Sometimes I like the drama more than the novel (the story for minglan - but to be fair, I've only read half of it).

Here are a few that I wouldn't mind seeing turn into a drama:

Ascending, Do Not Disturb - xianxia genre. I remember really enjoying this one.

The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage - this would need major scrubbing. the FL is so vicious. Maybe this wouldn't be a good candidate for a cdrama because the censors might change is so drastically...

I thought they said he's going to work at an investment bank. I guess engineering is quite different in china. I apologize, I didn't recall that he had double majors. In Canada, Engineering has one of the heaviest workloads, therefore I think it would have taken a long time to graduate with both majors - because except for few electives, not much would have aligned (can't say for sure, because I did not take finance. but I did not see business people in my classes).

yes but I think he could work for the commercial sector - that is more applicable than finance, which is a totally new field and he has not studied that in 10 years. I think realistically, that would have been a better option as it is more related to his current job. I'm just wondering why that wasn't one of his options if he was planning to make more money.
