I heard that the Douban rating of this one is very low. As is that of some other currently pop drama. Do you know…
The Double opened with Douban of 6.8 and then dropped to 6.6 due to the ending similar to what happened to A Journey to Love which opened with Douban 7.5 but eventually fell to 6.4 because of the ending. Relatively speaking, I think 6.5 and over is an excellent score to have.
Sword and Fairy 6 is a showcase of fresh, unique, and innovative storytelling. It blends wuxia and sci-fi, focusing on the intertwining destinies and many sacrifices of its characters. Each character’s story is rich and complex, navigating themes of love, control, and fate through complex time travel elements, creating a rich and emotional journey. The chemistry and acting of the entire cast is top-notch. Many scenes feel like watching a poignant stage play, with intimate, dialogue-driven moments and meticulously choreographed fight scenes that resemble a dance performance, exuding artistic elegance. It is a great series free of soap opera traits.
This makes 2 of us 😂I haven’t watched Best Choice Ever though. This is because of the comments about the…
I think Xu Kai's performance in BCE is praiseworthy. The producers of BCE praised him highly. People who say he played the same role never truly watched it. Xu Kai carved out his own story in BCE so well that if you don't care for the main story, the story of YZM is compelling enough to captivate you. YZM's story is inspiring (his journey, discovery, and growth), touching (his relationship with his grandmother), complicated (his personal and professional challenges), romantic (falls in love), and tragic (his father). Xu Kai showed how YZM and HT were ruthless in different ways, highlighting the distinct traits of each character.
What i analyzed in dingyuxi actingDing Yuxi is one of the rare young actors who can use his brain to act.Why do…
I agree with you. I've never watched this actor before, but in just a few scenes of this drama, I was captivated by his natural and nuanced acting style. He draws you into his character so seamlessly that you forget he's acting, making you completely immersed and mesmerized by his performance. He truly brings the character to life. He is giving the character a lot of personality and wonderful expressions that hook you into the character. Of course, Esther is always a delightful actress who plays roles that only she can do. She is also an exceptional and talented voice actor. I got to know her from her earlier drama this year. She's really awesome.
Zhao Liying so talented was already well known and immensely popular for her amazing works but this drama was still able to push her to "greater heights." The Journey of Flower "became the first Chinese drama to surpass 20 billion online views" and that was 9 years ago
@whoissilmoy If you quote all the reviews, comments and discussions from Douban (including neutral and critical…
The discussion group in Douban their users write very detail and insightful comments. It's a great way to see how others view the drama. I even go read about dramas from years ago. I found the most amazing review on Royal Feast with beautiful pictures of Xu Kai nuances that resonated with me, and it made me realized that it's not just me. There are people who actually see exactly what I see.
Actually, how I came to MDL was that it all started with watching Royal Feast on You Tube. I was struggling to understand the conflicts because I think they edited out something, and I found so many great comments in You Tube comments section, I read all of them over and over again, it helped me a lot. I thought MDL might be another source like that.
Am I the only one who has issues with how Ji Xing parents feels they have the right to punish Han Ting for "hurting"…
You mean they gave him spicy food? That was to drive home the point that marriage is not easy when you can't even share the same food together. They were doing their parental duty to teach them about how to stay together. They said they didn't object to their relationship but needed them to understand falling in love and staying together are not the same especially in light of the conflict they just went through that split them up.
Even though it looks like Han Ting conceded to her, I don't think he ever did. He always maintained that in his life, there will be other things, but in the area of love, there will only be Ji Xing. He told Ji Xing that in Germany even as he tried to get her back. Then Ji Xing walked away because she always maintained that if he truly loved her, he would not use her without telling her. But what Han Ting came to realized is that what he thought she wanted was not what she wanted. So, he wanted another chance at the relationship, but he never said what he did from business perspective was wrong. He did admit that what he did hurt her and caused them to split and for that he felt it was his fault. But Ji Xing also admitted to her parents that she was too rash. She helped him to understand what she needed from him. In the hospital they became closer, and finally communicated and decided to start over.
The cast is up on Douban site. It is Xu Kai, Ding Yongdai (he had main role in the very popular Always on the Move), and 19 yr. old Enxi Deng (aka Ancy Deng)
🎉 to 🪭 & 🪈! Was Wu Jin Yan nominated? How could they overlook her? 😢🌹
Wu Jin Yan is already an established best actress. In the past, she has been nominated for best actress four times and won three. I think they were giving awards to newcomers, actors who are showing potential, and rising stars. Wu Jinyan is already established as a seasoned acclaimed actress. I hope she will get recognition for her triumphant comeback in 2024.
Thank you very much for your words, you know how much I respect and admire you. Your knowledge and sensitivity…
The magnificent clips you inserted in your piece were carefully and thoughtfully selected. When I watch a drama, because I don’t understand Mandarin, I’m often distracted by reading subtitles. Even when I rewatch, I miss the subtleties (or nuances) that you highlight with these clips. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and that’s so true.
Douban review: "Every second of the male and female protagonists in the same frame is sweet and natural and make me feel I'm watching a love documentary. The reason it is good-looking cannot be attributed to screenwriter, but it looked good when filmed, and I think most of it was the credit of the actors (So & Yun) and director. At the end of the ending, time rewinds like a marquee, returning to the scene where the two people first met, Han Ting said to Ji Xing at that time the answer he had come up with through his life, and the coffin was conclusive: "Ji Xing, I love you." "The whole drama is frozen in this moment, it's really perfect. It really made me feel happy when I watched this drama."
