I wonder if grandma always secretly hoped MCH could meet her grandson one day? When he returned from abroad, she mentioned her right away to him and wanted to introduce her to him over tea. I'm so glad grandma got to spend time with her grandson before she passed away, even though it was cut short. I'm sure when YZM's mother died, that grandma wanted to raise her grandson. Afterall, she knows YZM's father mistreats him. Perhaps her stepson created issues. It seems so cruel to take her only grandchild, her daughter's child far away from her and never see him again. But MCH filled her loneliness all those years.
Grandma never liked MCH bf. She called MCH right away that bf is on a blind date.
It was because Nainai and her 2nd husband were together when they were advanced in age. And people gossipped about…
thanks, the father is a very good man, he's just not outstanding like his daughter, but not everyone can be outstanding. that grandma character and the actress just phenomenal!
They’re not close, but they’re also not estranged. It was mr mai that had chenghuan visit nainai regularly…
If he 'd had a relationship with his step grandma, she could have helped him out maybe, she did help pay for MCH hospital bills when she got some disease

thanks but wow he didnt see her for decades I think he said to his wife. there is something about the way he talked to grandma on his visit that I don't know why but the way he talked, he's like a common Chinese man I feel like I know him
I really would like drama to tell me why the father had a falling out with his stepmother (grandma) because if he hadn't, his family's life would have been easier. I like a glimpse into his background to understand his character better. They gave us the scene when he went to visit grandma to ask for her help to talk to MCH because she was depressed. I like his acting very much, or he just fits this role so perfect, or maybe his character just resonates with me, he so represents typical quiet and reserved Chinee father to me and because he was poor from rural China. The scene with grandma made me felt something about him, but why is he so nervous around her, like a stranger. I know he hadn't seen her for decades, and why is there no element of surprise when he was at the door if they hadn't seen each other for decades? Couldn't the dialogue give us a glimpse of what happened between them? Same thought when the mother went to visit grandma, there was no element of surprise by grandma, same with the grandson, you think with him especially, there would be an element of surprise that he's back. Afterall, no one has come to visit her for decades except MCH. and now suddenly, they're appearing at her door. There was that scene where she pointed out the tree that she and grandson had planted as seed right before he went abroad, was now a full-grown tree, she said they had planted it together and he had cried. I wonder how old he was. But he totally forgot that day and show no interest in the memory, in contrast to grandma joy of the memory. Perhaps that was to let viewer know the grandson had long moved on from his tragic past, and they are no longer close like when he was a kid, but they keep in touch all these years through letters, so there is still a good relationship between them. But he never came to visit his grandma. The drama does not reveal his feelings. It only spent a few seconds to give viewer a run down on such a tragic and traumatic past when YZM told MCH about it. Giving a character this kind of heavy story leaves the viewer hanging.
I read that XK said YZM fell in love with MCH at his apartment of the same floor that MCH was assigned to service after she was demoted to property management team. I think it must be this scene.
YZM has called MCH into his apartment, he sat on his white sofa, holding his mug with his left hand, and tapping the handle with his right index finger, he has a love-struck dreamy, satisfied look on his face, as he stared lovingly at MCH fixing his lamp across the room, her back is facing him.
He has a debt he owes Mrs. Zhang for saving his life before, that is part of the reason.ML was ruthless but never…
trust him for what? YZM is ruthless but not corrupt. did you see how YZM's face when she said, "there are no friends or relatives I can ever trust again" and he looked down sort of wince? I have to back to watch it, but he had this sort of painful look because he felt bad that he caused her to lose faith, I don't think he wanted to do that to her. that scene is so good. Yang Zi is very expressive in that scene with her eyes too, but Xu Kai, I have to watch his face a few times because he has lot of micro expressions. and if I'm looking at the subtitles, I can miss a lot. Sometimes it's hard to know what the expression means if you don't know the situation. it's like grandma said "I know my grandson very well. He's not a bad person by nature"
