Jin zhao gave everything he had left to awaken Qi to fight Zhu Yu, that's why he had no more strength to live. He knew it but he didn't let Qi know. The scene of them together after the final battle is very moving, Qi as her usual kind, sweet, adorable self always thinking of egg noodles and always looking up to Jinzhao as her everything, and Jinzaho his brave, but now weak and dying self, always caring about Qi, sent her away to buy candied haws so she wouldn't see him die. As he died, he held on to his fish pendant. Even though I've seen the scene before, I still feel sad and my eyes swell up.
I really love Esther Yu. Her emotional scene in ep 35 was amazing. She makes acting seem effortless. She was perfectly cast as Qi. I can't think of who else could have been such an adorable, lovable, and powerful Qi. She's the first female actress that I truly enjoyed those hand movements. She has more of a punch to whatever she does.
When Xu Kai fights with others, especially female actors who don't' have martial arts skills, I'm sure he has to be careful not to hurt them.
Showing emotions when you are being killed is not easy. I read a comment a viewer was making fun of some actor as looking like he was constipated. So it's not easy to look like you're in pain or dying.
Xu Kai has mastered the art of looking lifeless, like all energy has been sucked out of him, and you can feel his body becomes limp.
Wan Peng is great. She deserves to a main lead in a drama of her own.
Xu Kai has the most exquisite hands. I first noticed them in Royal Feast when he extended his hands to Zajin.
Chen Zi Han who plays Qing Fei has a lovely face. She was in 2006 Return of Condor Heroes. It's a treat this drama has her caliber for guest role. I'm glad she got a final emotional scene to showcase her acting skills. Someone like her I'm sure is using her own voice.
Han Dong plays Xuwei became famous in the 2011 hit Scarlet Heart.
The little girl who played Xiao Yuan left an impression on me. I'm sure she will have a breakout role one day.
The acting in this drama as a whole is outstanding.
no wonder the MDL age group for SAF6 shows that middled age 40+ rated the lowest (7.8); interestingly, the same age group rated SAF4 highly (8.5-8.9). This is why reviews is the only way to get the message out that this drama was a great adaptation of the game Sword and Fairy, that the actors did a phenomenal job, really.
Quote from a gamer review: "Of course, this is just a personal guess, or a very small guess. But if it really happens, it will be because this drama is blackened by fans of Xian 1, 3, and 4, Hu Ge fans, Yu Shuxin Heizi, etc., which causes the Douban score to hit the street and sigh"
it's not open ended to me. it's happy ending as confirmed by the game epilogue. The drama in effect restored the game ending but left the audience to its imagination while the game epilogue was blunt about it. It was brilliant to adapt the game ending yet made the drama ending more interesting which to me was a big improvement for drama watching otherwise it would have been even more bland as some viewers described the ending. The epilogue was happy encounter. If the ending did not follow the game, there is no way the gaming community would be highly praising this adaptation.
I love this compilation with many BTS scenes between XK and Esther 🥰🥰https://youtu.be/Zu2cOhetjMU?si=CqxCP0VCboZQBWHf
Esther is athletic. She did first-grade wire spinning very well with no training or foundation before even if it hurts. I'm very impresses with her dedication and skills. What was that? Xu Kai wanted Esther to drink the bath water?
quote from gamer: "I think it's very difficult to play this role (Yue Qi or Prayer), her naivety and ignorance of the world can easily be played very contrived (unrealistic). But Yu Shuxin has done it, she really restores it really well, and anyone who has played the game can feel it, she really has the strength of Prayer"
It's a great achievement to get praised by the targeted audiences(Game players, Producer of SAF game, Tech related…
I don't know about SF4 but I recall reading that SAF1 and SAF3 adaptations deviated a lot from the game but the actors are very famous and gave great performance. SAF6 adaptation is very special the way it was done. You can't get better than SAF6 as far as restoring a game to a TV series. It's like they restored as much as they possibly can and added whip cream and cherry on top.
Getting recognition from the technical community is great achievement because technical people are highly intelligent, more objective and are critical. They are not easy to please.

They should really take it one step further and give this drama an award for Best Adaptation of a Video Game,
So many characters in this drama have uncanny resemblance to the game characters, not just in the costume and hair, but how they portrayed the personality, the way they talk, walk, eat, etc. It is truly remarkable casting and chemistry. Every actor brought the animation characters to life. The animation characters have a lot of personality, charm, and chemistry and the drama actors were able to bring it to life. Esther as Qi greatly improved her character. Xu Kai as Bian was masterful although the adaptation of Bian changed a lot, but it actually made the story more interesting as well as for drama watchers. The costumes are beautiful in the game, sexier and revealing of course which can't be done in Chinese drama, but the costumes the drama created matched the game and even improved it in a lot of ways. I couldn't but help notice how creative and beautiful the costumes and hair styles were. Is there an award for Best Costume Design?
Someone just posted a review with rating of 6.0 saying "can the drama please start out with a strong woman instead of a child?" This is why if you want to support this drama, you should rate generously to offset all the unreasonable low ratings from people who want to change the story and other reasons. The rating on this drama has been downgraded due to fl voice syndrome. It is glaringly obvious over at Viki.
It's the same ending as the game. The producers have far exceeded the expectations of restoring the game. This drama has got to be The Best Adaptation of a Video Game Ever. However, in doing so, did they limit their audience?
Gaming community should give this drama some recognition to show some appreciation.
Loved the dynamics between the leads and the chemistry was also good, i think its the first time i see Xu Kai…
The "how high music could be while talking" is not just SAF6 but other dramas too. It was super noticeable in AJTL. Hopefully, that is not a reason to rate it down. I love Esther's fighting spirit. She has a lot of control, power, and speed. She looks like she's going to kill when she fights while looking graceful and beautiful.
There is something wrong with the ratings they all above 8 only the drop ones but even with the rating of drop…
The rating is looking to be about 8.1 to 8.3 with only 4% completions done. It was 8.5 before but has been dropping steadily. Hopefully, as the completed come in next week, it can go back up. Maybe the airing schedule caused the ratings to slip because people had to wait 3 days in between. It could be coincidence, but I noticed in the largest age group, the rating dropped 0.1 each time there was freeze in the schedule. It could be caused by people are rating each episode differently. Hopefully, people will update the rating in completed which is one input, and rate it higher when it's completed instead of averaging every episode, which doesn't make sense. I feel like if you were entertained and enjoyed it very much, then give it 8.5 or higher; after all, there are a lot of unreasonable ratings and other factors that have nothing to do with the actual drama that will pull down the rating.
The MDL Age Group data suggests that 18-24 (8.5) enjoy SAF more than any other age group, and less so by 25-34 (8.3). The ratings are dragged down by high school age, 13-17 (8.0), and middle age and beyond 40-65+ (7.8).
So much courage in this drama!
This drama will touch all your senses!
