Episode 17 (Romeo and Juliet)
Li Ni: You know, I always think that if you were not a Cui, and I were not a Li, would there have been less gaps and troubles between us?

Li Ni: There is the crown prince son. I want to bring him back and persuade father into making him crown prince. He is a smart child, with a good tutor's help, he will be a good emperor in the future.
Ying: What if you can't find him or your father won't make him crown prince?
Li Ni (stops to think for a few seconds then turns to Ying): Let's elope then. When the peace is restored, and Xuanze is brought back, let's leave the Western Capital and go to Laolan Pass to have a free life, all right?
Ying (the realist, knows that he'll be stuck in the palace after the war): Though I know you don't mean it, I'm still so glad to hear that. We agreed to visit Wonderland when the war would be ended. It's a shame that it's not realized and tomorrow we'll be separated.
Li Ni (the dreamer who will never give up his dream): There will be such a day. Then, we'll come to Wonderland, and then Laolan Pass. Let's ride together to see this country, all right?

Ying is a realist, she wants it to be true, but she knows it can never be. Li Ni, is a passionate dreamer who will not let his dream die.

Xu Kai has a quality about him on screen and off screen that is uniquely him and stands out. Charisma has to come from the inner person's heart, mind, soul, spirit, passion, etc. and who is unafraid to be himself and show his vulnerabilities. Xu Kai was born with a face, body, and movements that are exquisitely expressive that allows his emotions to be amplified a thousand times outwardly. For me, an actor has to be able to project his emotions to move his audience. Xu Kai has this ability, I'm sure he worked hard at it but also, and he is fortunate to be naturally expressive. Xu Kai does not get enough credit. He is incredibly hard working. Just having natural abilities is not enough. The person needs to know how to harness it to his advantage.

LCF obviously has been mentally ill for a long time. He didn't even have his own identify growing up. He lived as fake Cui Lin his whole life. He was obsessed with the real Cui Lin his whole life but could not express it to her. He's been sickly his whole life and Ying has been his crutch to live on. It's been bottled up inside him his whole life, when Li Nii showed up on the scene, he became desperate and lost his mind. However, he and Ying had a happy childhood caring about each other. He did save her when they were kids and he did save her at the ambush, before he was stabbed and fell into the river. They were tied to the hip as siblings. So, it was understandable all that Ying and LCF went through, even though LCF betrayed Li Ni army, she griefed over his loss.

"I can't help thinking some of the low ratings for Wonderland of Love have to do with people having a personal antipathy for Xu Kai".
Now, why would she say that?

I love WoL. It's my kind of movie. I wish Xu Kai great success.

I read so many comments that people say why real Cui Lin blamed Li Ni for not saving fake Cui Lin when they got ambushed by Cui Li at the river/tower scene. Why is she so mad and unreasonable when he lost half his army.
My take on it is different. There are complex human emotions (grief, guilt, hurt etc). Li Ni is very perceptive and understanding of her emotional state and tried to help her come out of it.
There was that scene she said to Taozi that if it was anyone else who didn't believe her, she wouldn't mind, but Li Ni is not just anyone else to her.

I did not watch this drama but saw a clip and I thought "vampire" too; now I see finally a comment on vampire, so I was not imagining.

was it ep 16.. Li Ni said to her that when he first met her, she was so mean, he was going to get even with her, then later they met again, he said he had a chance to kill her but for some reason he could not do it. That must have been the moment he realized he likes her?

you really understand the depth of the character. did you also read the novel?

FIYS was a huge international success and exposure for Xu Kai. If you look at You Tube, episode 1 has 22M views. I rather like the movie myself. He nailed the character. The romance was really cute, funny, and entertaining and wholesome. The entire cast had chemistry. The script was superb. Even though the focus is on winning games, the script also involved a lot of interesting issues related to social behavior and norms and family matters. There was character development especially for the male lead. I don't mind rewatching a lot of the scenes with the leads. There were funny scenes and tender scenes between them. Fatty was such a lovable and hilarious character. Xu Kai knows how to interpret and portrays his characters precisely in every role he has done.

he's never gotten this much screen time in an entire production of 40 episodes, has he?

Zhou Dong Yu is very passionate actress.

Dance of Sky Empire and Once Upon a Time in Lingjian Mountain are very good, esp. Lingjian Mountain, Xu Kai was amazing; unfortunately, it is not on You Tube, so I can only watch whatever clips I can find. I saw it one time on Amazon Prime but not anymore. I wished I quickly watch it before it disappeared, but Dance of Sky Empire is still free on Amazon prime. I really like female lead Wu Jiayi. She is an amazing actress whose acting is quite moving. She also played second female lead in Arsenal Military Academy.

Xu Kai shows he can do comedy in Court Lady. He is hilarious.

they are two highly intelligent people who can communicate well with each other but there is a lot going on in their lives that puts them at odds with each other. They both share the same noble goal of restoring peace for the people and they both love and respect each other but differ in methods and values. They have differences in personalities. Li Ni is more passionate and a dreamer and will not give up on Ying. He will do anything to win her heart. Ying is more practical about everything. She does not yield to love as easily. She is steadfast in her goal, even if she loses Ni Li. NI Li as much as he will do anything for her is also steadfast in his principles. So, when it comes to their principles, neither will bend.

Li Ni is intelligent, upright, and wise. In episode 1, he already stated this:
"General Pei, I cannot grant your request. The crown prince's son is still missing. He may still have a chance to live. Now the emperor and crown prince are dead, he should inherit the crown.
He is intelligent and the first born so he has the right to the crown. Besides, my father is a hostage to Sun Jing. If I were to be the prince regent, we'd place my father in a scorching dilemma.

I find Jing Tian adorable, cute, sweet face, and very nice figure too which is why she looks great in costumes.
