It was nice to see them allow Xu Kai to at least display his fighting not in slow motion in scene 27 where he ambushed the evil LCF to retrieve Ying. To display his full motions, they also did arial shot so you can see his range and speed of motion wielding a sword. It goes fast so it's easy to miss. A couple years ago, Wu Jinyan (Yanxi Palace female lead) said Xu Kai's martial arts skils advanced so much already since his days on Yanxi Palace. This movie has a lot of rewatch value for me to just admire the fighting scenes, beautiful scenery and music, and the leads interactions and humor.
Also, there was that scene where Li Ni climbed up to the tower at lightning speed in superhuman fashion and stride after Mister Cui fell into the river. That was amazing to watch, and I wonder if that was Xu Kai or a stunt man. A part of me thinks it is stunt man as they wouldn't want the actor to get hurt, but part of me thinks it is Xu Kai with his long legs and athletic abilities and I wouldn't be surprised at all. The climber did it so fast, it looked so real, I can't tell if it the camera sped it up or not. The production is so amazing.
What a great drama from beginning to end. The romance was off the charts. I don't remember any ancient drama with…
Xu Kai interpretation and portrayal of the low-key Yang Hua in SHPH was really great. Every time I think of Yang Hua, I don't think of Xu Kai at all. Xu Kai says in real life, he has nothing in common with Yang Hua.
I cried a bucket between this drama and ALP. Both will be dear in my heart.
I have not completed WoL but in ALP, Bai Jue, Qing Mu, and Boxuan's love for Shanngu and Hoichi breaks your heart, especially Qing Mu and Hoichi.. so sad, she was banned and their time together was short-lived. ALP was not an easy one to grasp for me perhaps because it is the only fantasy Xianxia drama I've ever watched. I had to rewatch many scenes before I could understand the realms and powers and such things. Once I got most of it figured out what they meant in each scene, the powerful love story all came together for me.
I just took a peek at episode 40. I really love the ending! And finally a royal couple that call each other by…
in Royal Feast, Crown Prince Zhu Zan Ji (portray by Xu Kai), in a desperate move to win her in a scene, he called her out by her nickname "Ah Li" as she was about to leave. Xu Kai is masterful at displaying tender moments in romance scenes.
all of the traitors from this drama get killed by the end and no one got spared ..and this is the best part because…
In Royal Feast, all the bad characters died too except for Su Yue Hua. For some reason, she was spared so many times and given a new beginning at the end.
Each and every scene and interaction between the leads were entertaining and there were already more than enough, but for me, I found myself not minding more scenes involving them, even if it is unnecessary. The script writer was masterful at creating scenes with lines that makes the viewers fall for the couple each time.
I only just finished episode 16 but I pretty much know the rest of the story via spoilers, but I found this review with a low 6.5 score, and respectfully disagree:
" I think they were just trying to extend it for as long as possible... after the around 15 episode-mark felt like the drama was reaching the climax only for the actors to... do something absolutely irrelevant or even add an unnecessary scene just so it could make up the drama episodes"
the discussions on reddit are quite good, detail, thorough, and deep analysis into the characters instead of the "he's become dumb and naive". It looks into the pros and cons of the decision to become crown prince or not. One opinion was Li Ni is not naive but avoiding it. Another opinion was Ni Li is reasonable to not be crown prince and lists the pros and cons and concluded it is a lose-lose situation. Similarly, analyzed Cui Lin attitude on it.
I just watched a bts or behind the scene wedding night sword fight. The sword is very heavy for Jing Tian and can hurt the hand. Xu Kai is always wonderful to his female leads especially when it comes to physical activities. He helps her navigate through it and is concern for her safety.
I've never seen such a dumb and 'unprofessional' emperor in all of dramaland. I've seen a lot of cruel emperors…
chalk it up as part of the comedy. This is a romance, comedy, action movie. Some of the characters are just simply part of the comedy like Li Ni two brothers. When they came on the scene, I found their interactions with each other hilarious. This is not a serious historical drama.
That fake cuilin is so stupid, to betrayed your own ally and help your enemy just because of jealousy. This guy…
Did you not watch Li Ni tell her he was sorry for not believing her and tried so many ways to win her back? Finally, she accepted his flowers and he eavesdrop and heard her say to Taozi that if it was anyone else, she would not be this mad, but because Li Ni is not just anyone else. When Li Ni heard that, he felt content knowing that the reason she was that mad at him was because she loved him that much. Li Ni understood how hurt she was, and he tried to mend their relationship. She never colluded to harm his army.
the last episode after she told him she's pregnant, Li Ni went from (and I think this is Xu Kai injecting his own goofy personality into the scene) being goofy to astonishment to amazement to pure joy, his eyes swelled up with tears and hugged her.
