Another of Kamenashi's amazing transformations, I like the hairstyle and specs. Madcap, fast, but verging on confused. The story's not terribly original and neither are the stunts, Kamenashi's "volatile" character can get tedious after a while. Not sure where it's going or worth the time but will watch a bit further.
ah, Shoes, despite you sharing my birthday, I wonder if you're right? who knows what's going on beneath the surface?…
I fully agree with you the first few episodes were a struggle, the boys were cardboard characters although Eun Ho was OK, but I got drawn in afterwards. I also agree it requires a large suspension of disbelief, manga style does, but I see it as exploring some quite important social/education issues within a fictional setting, with the daft fiction holding interest. I feel the style parodies things in school like the corruption/favoritism, pompous principal, bullying, poor ambitious swot, lazy rich boy, underachievers etc The unrealistic things stretch credibility but are fun if you like that sort of thing and can suspend disbelief and are probably what most people would have liked to do to get back at the injustices that are not paid back in real life. I found the weak spot was the soppy romance and the female lead so impossibly masochistic you want to shake her. I haven't quite finished it yet but usually endings are a flop even in good dramas. But different things attract different tastes.
Like it very much. But I have a question that Korean education system is this much rough?
ah, Shoes, despite you sharing my birthday, I wonder if you're right? who knows what's going on beneath the surface? OK, X is a flight of fiction, but the kids in schools are not flies on the wall of the principal's office or the school board's meetings, so no one knows what's going on except them………and there are, as most of us are aware, such things as "teacher's pets"……usually the children of those running the school. As for School 2015, I couldn't get past the first episode, the relentless nasty bullying made me sick.
In my view bromance is different than close friendships between groups of people or people within groups, bromance is about intense (more than just close) special friendship between two characters just like straight romance but same sex, verging on p/ship, not full on sexual relationship but certainly conscious or unconscious physical exchanges/touching/feeling etc Let's not confuse the terms to inflate lists mainly consisting of just close friendships - there are relatively few dramas/movies involving real bromance
intermittently amusing but basically flawed in treating the idea of same sex love as though it's somehow something you've got to show was never really intended because, of course, no normal person would REALLY be that way
Unexpectedly - as I usually like to keep bands' interest separate from drama - I loved this drama. The series had enough twists and turns to keep you gripped, a real shocker of a story twist almost from the off. Some wildly attractive bohemian-type "eye candy" in every meaning of the term, especially ji hjuk (Sung Joon) for me :) It veered off the school angle half way through. I thought it might be my antidote to School 2013 withdrawal symptoms, but in that sense it turned out not to be. But it certainly took your mind off it. Certainly it's about the impact of girls and romance clashing with ambition and celebrity when emotions are still haywire as adolescents, but surely even more about the closeness of the relationships binding a boy band together. I never like reaching the end of a series, there's got to be development if it's a good drama but so often the wrap up is too neat and verging on cheesy and this did not altogether escape that. It's more about giving the fans a "feel good" ending. But overall I loved this series, I kept watching it without any breaks, which is unusual for me. It also had two great songs, of which I especially liked Wake Up. Knowing the outcome, I'm not sure it's one I'd watch again, but that's probably true of most.
thx for the heads up - it's just that my definition of bromance is intense intimacy between two boys/men without full on sex complications - there's a lot of vague definition of bromance which is really just close friendship which imho is different - it'd be an interesting topic for general discussion
Not great on sophistication, very direct and simple, it packs a lot into its 25 minute episodes, yet very endearing Chinese gay series. Good looking lead actors. Seems to be a groundbreaking drama for mainland China. Love the theme music 10/10, 9/10 overall.
secret garden - isn't joo won cute? also lee jong suk when you can actually spot him, weird how after finding this total rubbish set against nice scenery it somehow reeled me in, bizarre characters do, otherwise the attraction of this drama remains very secret indeed
