Don't quite know why this has such rave reviews, except lots of touching and kissing. Nice looking guys, but volleyball not really for me and not much of a story, so I suppose this influences me. If it's like this generally in Taiwanese schools, I wish I'd gone to one. It's nice to see feelings can be expressed so openly. 8/10 for that reason, otherwise would be lower for me.
I picked this for Seo Kang Joon after seeing him on Are You Human Too? I almost dropped it after the first 12 awful minutes of not-so-good police "yawn" thriller. A bit slow, funny towards the end. I am not sure I will stick with this but I have almost missed some good dramas through impatience, so will see how it develops. Why are Korean student guys shown as so immature about women at that age in so many Korean dramas? I am sure it cannot be like that in real life.
I tried this out because of Lee Joon Hyuk from "Are you human too?" I like his cool, dark looks here. But this felt slow, slow at the start and then half of it was taken up with (yawn) romance and I wasn't sure if it was worth waiting for the 10 minutes of action at the end of the episode to find out what happens -the "targets" have more lives than a cat. Lee Min Ho jumping about looking pretty does not compensate. I could really not take seriously Park Min Young as a top state bodyguard? bang!! aaaaaagh - the president just got shot: ( This was on hold with me about half way through but in the second half it improved hugely, so I'm glad I stuck with it. Still too much sentimental romance for me got in the way of the plot but they certainly hooked me with the cliffhanger endings! They could have cut out the romance and taken 10+ minutes off the episodes or reduced to 16 episodes and it would have been much better all through imo. Really good towards the end. Well it got to the end and it was very well worked out, although in one respect not the ending I would have wished. Can not quite give this a 10/10 due to the above problems, but in the end a very good 9+ .
Very thought-provoking sci-fi thriller with touches of comedy, though the romance angle eventually intruded too much for me. Still, it was one that kept me watching, with no "on hold" loss of interest and had a satisfying denouement. Apart from the pure story, it does raise a lot of questions about where the human machine ends and consciousness and feelings begin, as well as notions of good and evil - as humans are all a mixture of good and bad.
Phew! in the first episodes don't blink or you'll miss this, and I thought I was volatile. Story of fight between leads set among lots of crazy action. Hope it is not another love story as they promise - but love/hate?. Lee Eleanor very funny. Huang Jun Jie looks great - very prissy character played well. Recommended by Hmmsy, thank you. 10/10 entertainment value so far. Love every character in this. For me not so good in later episodes, the turn to fantasy, full on in ep. 16, was interesting to start but dragged on and did not really work for me, so I have to deduct a point because it became a struggle to watch all the clever-clever fantasy. I preferred the school setting. The music is good but takes up too much time.
Do they get together again? There is some suggestion I think, if so the ending is more positive and the overall result feels better. But maybe that's just my prejudice for happy endings.
You have to look beyond the title which is more than it superficially suggests. Sounded quite heavy but the beginning was very funny and well done with two (later three) characters. It's a weird tale but sucks you in (if you see what I mine). The rushed ending I find rather too "neat" and unsatisfying. Further comment under spoiler. "Cuts" in film are an easy option to jump time. They are risky and don't always work. One positive message suggested to me is that you do not have to "do" or perform a job, activity, vocation or whatever to "prove" your value as a person. Not important but the younger guy did not look Japanese - OK I know I should not "stereotype". Avoid if you object strongly to cigarettes.
Looked him up as I like him - not the character - in While You were Sleeping. Pretty horrible character there, hope he has some dramas with nice characters. Photo here does him no favors.
