It was well worth watching but I feel it could have been better as it seemed to skip about a lot. Even better just include these scenes in the actual episodes!

The best part for me was seeing Xu Ziquan meet Tang Ying's parents. And this scene explains more why she said she thought he wasn't the type of person to get married in the finale of the main show.

You may be right, I just don't know the significance of touching the lotus in that case. Because he does say something like "The golden lotus has been touched without permission. I need to go now, I can't stay here." as though the two things are connected.

You are right that Mo Yuan gives an explanation after he wakes up, but that explanation is more about how the golden lotus was created, not why Ye Hua had to be born at the time he was. You are also correct that he is not surprised Bai Qian fell in love with Ye Hua. I don't think he explains why Ye Hua had to wake up at that time though. I was waiting for that explanation when I watched that episode.

I am not sure why Bai Qian is certainly the one who touched the golden lotus and this is my question. You only see the legs of the person who touched it. And shortly after that, Ye Hua says "someone has touched the lotus without permission" while speaking to Bai Qian in the same room (although she clearly can't hear him). Surely if Bai Qian was the one who touched it, he would have said "you touched the lotus without permission"? Also, I'd imagine she has touched the lotus many times before that moment, as she'd lived at Kunlun Void for thousands of years and was fascinated with the golden lotus.

You are right that he says something like "I have to go now, it's time for me to be born" but this is right after he says that someone touched the golden lotus without permission. With the implication that it's because of someone touching the golden lotus that he has to be born at that time.

question: what relation is Tang Ying to Lin Xin Zi? in the subtitles she is always called "sister", but in a couple of episodes they seem to speak as if they are not really sisters, especially when they go to the spa and there is a point where she says "your aunt said to my aunt...." and I was like....wait what?

I know that in Chinese, sister can be used to refer to a close friend especially between girls. But there's another episode where one of them says something like "of course I'm there, we're family". so I found it confusing. not sure if just bad subtitles

The only one who has feelings for the FL in the whole drama is the ML --> Not exactly true, there is her former tutor who tries to get with her over multiple episodes. And also her client Mr. Ma has a crush on her.

In my experience it happens in real life too. People tend to lean towards staying in toxic relationships and hoping the person will change, especially if they passionately declare that everything will be different from now on (as XJB did on multiple occasions). It takes some strength to walk away from that, and the fact it took LXZ so long to get to that strength is part of her arc and character development.

I don't think the fetus was (deliberately) given to anyone after Mo Yuan's soul was scattered, however it became implanted in Le Xu's womb due to the lotus being touched without permission. That's the part I'm asking about.

In that scene, you only see the person's knees and lower legs, and can't see their face. Immediately afterwards, Bai Qian (as Si Yin) is seen walking into the room of Mo Yuan wearing similar clothes to the one who touched the lotus, implying that it may have been her. But then Ye Hua (in spirit form) asks who touched the lotus, sowing doubt as to whether it really was Bai Qian who touched it. Of course, as you say, Le Xu is later the one who conceives and bears Ye Hua in human form, but it's unclear to me whether the one who touches the lotus is the one who will become pregnant. Also why she touched the lotus without permission. It does not seem deliberate, as when she learns she is pregnant, she seems genuinely surprised.

I would say around episode 8. There is a time jump of 70,000 years in episode 8. So the first 8 episodes are more like a prequel to the rest of the series. The mood of the first 8 episodes is pretty different to the rest of the show.

Can anyone explain why Ye Hua had to "wake up" from the golden lotus? In episode 7 he says someone touched him without permission and so he has to wake up now, but who touched him and why? I've watched the whole series but this point is still not clear to me.

It is a kind of love triangle but only at the beginning really. The FL is with SML at the start of the show, but their relationship ends in the first few episodes and she gets with ML instead. After that there's not much of a love triangle, although SML's history with FL definitely fuels some of his bad behaviour in the later episodes.

Also, there is more of a love triangle between ML, FL and ML's ex.

There is definitely something like a breakup, I don't remember how long it lasts, I would guess about 5-10 episodes.

Definitely start with this. It will give you backstory for Mystic Nine. This show was broadcast before Mystic Nine, even though chronologically it's set after it.

Definitely an unsatisfying ending. It's kind of open to interpretation whether it's happy or sad, but most people I've spoken to felt sad. I kinda felt sad too, even though I really wanted to see the happy side of it.

And it does seem to be a BL drama, from how the article is worded. It says that Bai Zhen and Zhe Yan "fell in love"

According to an article from Min News published today, the lead role of Bai Zhen will be played by Cheng Yi, and Zeng Shunxi & Xiao Shunyao also star, with He Zhonghua and He Shengming playing supporting roles. The article claims that the drama will be released in the fourth quarter of this year (2024).
