Yes. This. They could have wrapped up the series in a single season, but I'm not sure if it's driven by greed or something else, nowadays, everything seems to need to become a franchise. What I liked about Korean dramas was that they typically ended in just one season. They offered a satisfying and easy viewing experience without making audiences wait year after year.

By the same logic, one can also say there are many dramas that don't follow this trope but still just plain sucks. Also, there are many dramas that excel the webtoon they are based on. It's just too early to draw that kind of conclusions.
