Eh, are you mixing up Qian Heng with the childhood friend guy Cheng Yao's mother wanted to introduce to her? That guy was the one who wanted Cheng Yao to take care of children, do housework, AND still have a job to share the economic burden with the husband! (What a red flag 🙄) Qian Heng already defended Cheng Yao against that guy's impolite and obnoxious suggestions.

From beginning till now, one praise-worthy point of Qian Heng's character is he has a very fair view about gender equality in life and work. He taught Cheng Yao to not bow down and do menial tasks for senior males just because she's a female. And in latest episode after they started officially dating, he also supports Cheng Yao's decisions in work and let her do her job independently. Although as new boyfriend in love now as well as a more experienced lawyer, he can't help but worry about her and want to help her, but he has showed her a lot of respect in work. I don't think he would ever want Cheng Yao to simply quit her job and stay home as housewife for him, even though with his high earnings, he totally can let his girlfriend/wife live comfortably without going to work. He's already doting on her a lot now. That part where he bought 3 spicy level dishes and electric pots to cook them just to be sure at least one dish will suit her taste... Only rich guy can afford to be so 🤪

Plus, I think, for a boss, he has been pretty patient and lenient with her most of the times. His words are biting and his expression is normally unhappy/cold, but many of her mistakes or misunderstanding of him, he has let them slide and didn't punish her at work. Though she didn't mean it, in his view, she invited him to dinner twice and let him wait on her without coming both times. From beginning when he didn't even like her yet, he let her off on many silly things that normal boss or a high status guy would never let off with a normal employee.

He yelled at her after she told him she's ok with him going to see more girls. He was hurt by her words criticizing his character but he let her explain first. His expression at the beginning of their talk was probably cold and upset (reasonably so in his situation) but he didn't yell yet. The more she tried to explain, the wronger it became in his view. She told him she's only his employee and nothing more, he can freely go meet other girls. So he told her she's only his employee then why he needed to care about her opinion if he continue on blind dates with others? An employee should focus on her work instead of her boss's private life. If he doesn't like her already, then what he said is actually very valid in normal boss- employee relationship and she would have deserved all that scolding.
He's too quick tempered but I think in this situation, it's understandable in their points of view. Of course she's not really at fault either. She didn't know from which part of the conversation he overheard, and she didn't dare to have feelings for her boss so she tried to deny everything, unfortunately the more she denied it, the more she hurt and confused him without knowing 😅 However in about 2 or 3 more episodes, they will finally confess to each other and start dating.

She really does look like a very cute hamster, like that scene where she was busy studying and he hand-fed her the grapes. CXX took really nice photos. I'm surprised at his photography skills. He has good artistic eyes. The still scenery photos of the filming sites and the beautiful portraits of LLD he took are all very great.

Watching them interact together, they are very comfortable around each other and they don't look like they intentionally act like that for fan services and cp ship. I guess being schoolmates and both so serious and dedicated to their acting career, they found many common things between them and can relax around each other.

I really hope they can act as a pair again in another drama with very different settings and personalities, so they can showcase their brilliant acting and chemistry for us again. It was a pleasure watching them act together.

By the way, on rewatch, I noticed in this scene in the drama, when YQ was pouring tea and YT kept staring at him thinking this guy isn't too bad, YQ was looking down, not daring to look at her and he was blinking rapidly because he apparently felt her gaze on him but he was so shy and nervous he didn't know what to do next. CXX's acting in this is so on point!

There's also another scene that has become one of my favorites. In ep 10 after YT helped YQ overcome his fear and complete the 10th level of his Celestial Body. When YT learned that he stayed in that place 1500 years to train and wait for his death, she told him no one is more of an idiot than him. YQ's guiltless eyes looking back at her and his hands holding together in front of him... He looks like a little boy being scolded. He made YT embarrassed herself! I love how CXX could make his eyes look so innocent like that and the hands holding, very subtle but very true to YQ awkward personality!

Another scene is when YT brought Lamu to the market. LM saw the tiger stuffed toy and he was really happy. He made this super cute silly grin to imitate the tiger toy when YT asked him if he liked the toy. Then when YT saw LM doing that grin, she also imitated that grin once right there! I watched that scene many times before but normally I only noticed LM's cute grin, I only finally noticed YT's small grin now after a Chinese comment pointed it out! They are such a cute couple! YT dotes on LM so much, haha

CXX and LLD have many little gestures they did throughout the drama that we didn't notice the 1st time but on rewatch, it made me appreciate them both a lot more since they used their body language so well to portray their characters, they were totally living the characters.

I watched some other behind the scenes today, and there are some interesting parts:
1. If you guys remember, around episode 4 or 5, when Youqin used food to attract Yetan over, he had a small red dot on his neck. I saw some funny comments joke about it being "love mark" in this scene. I just found out that was a scratch made by LLD accidentally during one scene where she grabbed his collar and shook him around (this scene apparently didn't make it into the drama, I don't know when it was supposed to happen, perhaps in her dream?). CXX joked that LLD had to take responsibility for him and she joked back okay, I will do it. That's so cute!

2. After the star gazing on the galaxy where YQ gave YT the star, they returned to her room and YQ was pouring tea for YT. Then she touched his hand and he was nervous but didn't pull his hand away. In behind the scene, LLD even brought out nail clipper to clip her nails before the shooting to make sure the close up shot of their hands will look nice. Then CXX asked why her hand looked so much whiter than his hand and she told him she used whitening cream. He immediately asked for the cream to copy her. LLD told him this would lessen the work of the post-production team (no need to adjust brightness or add filter for their skin) and CXX complimented her as professional.

Haha, yeah, perhaps that's a little too sexy for China's censorship. Even their nose touch accident after the sword dance was cut, heizzz... So many cute and sweet scenes of our favorite couple :(

I'm still deeply in love and obsessed with Starry Love now, watching it again many times already. I love that in this one drama, we got various types of love couples and they are all healthy relationships. Let's see what we got from this drama:

1. Slow burn relationship, gradually growing into an amazing and unforgetable love between the main couple. A mischievous girl who wanted to be the most badass evil doer in the world and a social-awkward and naive guy who always thinks about others before himself. They didn't like each other at the beginning but in their core, they are both kind-hearted people and helped each other defeat their own demons, overcome fear and sadness, save each other and learn to love and appreciate each other in the end. This pairing development is probably the most natural and realistic. For some viewers, they might seem too slow and boring at the beginning, but as story progress and on rewatch, I can see their relationship slowly grew through challenges and hardships, they helped make each other a better version of themselves and it feels quite similar to a real life relationship building.

2. The bad boy - good girl redemption type with the 2nd lead couple. This type is one of the favorites in dramas and novels. Bad boy deceived the girl at the beginning but slowly fell in love with the girl because of her pure heart and learned to become better for her too. This type always started very interesting from the beginning and is such a romantic story because of all the deceiving and conflicts they have to overcome. It's especially nice to see the good girl in this pairing is not just a naive little girl always in need of bad boy's protection but a very strong will and smart girl with a pure heart. She totally conquered the casanova's heart, not even allowing him to try and deceive her for her own's good since she knows best what's good for her and him, :)))

3. The cute puppy love story between 3rd couple. The sweet caring and innocent girl gave her love so whole-heartedly, it made the guy finally gave up his one-sided love for another girl to look back and realize his feelings for the girl always by his side.

4. The hilarious chase between Wudai and Saintess. The kind and daring Saintess confessing her love directly and scaring her guy away but in the end, by staying by his side and silently supporting him, she also made him drop his one-sided love for another girl to finally look at her.

5. There's also the sad love story type with much regret and what ifs between Qingheng and Husui too for people who love sad stories.

All the guys and girls in here (except one bitchy minor character) are so noble and rational in their love. They never doubt and blame their lovers, are willing to listen and put themselves in the other's shoes to understand their lovers, are brave to fight for their love, and are high-minded enough to step back if the person they love don't love them back, but still patiently stand by their side to support them and wait for them to realize their love.

It has been so long since I found a drama with such healthy relationships and so many amazing and kind characters, suprisingly in a fantasy xianxia drama, the genre famous for many misunderstandings, heart-breaks and troubles.

I haven't read the original novel, but I saw a discussion online and some people said in the original book, Chao Feng and Youqin went to the same school, studied together for a while. They both got no.1 in school but Chao Feng told his mother that he got no.1 because he did his best while Youqin got no.1 because teacher couldn't give him any higher score. Apparently, Youqin is the genius type, and Chao Feng the resourceful, ambitious and hard working type? Still, Chao Feng in the book is stronger and closer in strength to Youqin than in the drama, and they got a long quite well.

Oh, and in the discussion I read, Chao Feng is 2800 years old, so he's actually older than Youqin? Elder brother-in-law indeed XD

Yeah, that gaze! And today I found out there was a behind the scene video of the sword dance, after she flew over him, her dress passed over his face and he closed his eyes and had a tiny smile on his face when the dress touched his face for a second. That's so romantic 😍 A pity it didn't make it into the final official cut.

I can't remember how many times I rewatched my favorite sword dance scene between Youqin and Yetan in Heavenly Realm in episode 28. Each time I see it in a video thumbnail while I surf for TSL videos, I click!
But today reading comments under one video of the sword dance, I found out that scene was the 1st scene they shoot of the whole drama, on the 1st day! CXX and LLD were amazing. They look so real in love in that scene I can't believe that was the 1st scene they acted together!!!

I remember he used his own voice in some other dramas before Starry Love too, but they are modern dramas and not as well known as his Goodbye My Princess or Fall in Love, in which he was dubbed by other voices. No one complained about his own voice in those other dramas before, only happened with Starry Love at the beginning.

The complain was mostly about his voice being too deep to fit a xianxia drama and the heavenly prince type of characters in most xianxia. And he did try to make his voice even deeper than his normal voice at the beginning of Starry Love to fit Youqin 1.0 character so it might seem strange to some viewers without understanding Youqin 1.0 upbringing and personality yet. However as the drama progress, most of us got used to his low voice, and even appreciate it more when he intentionally changed his voice to fit each version of Youqin, and they fit amazingly!

Now we are thankful he was able to used his own voice for Starry Love. I think no one could do it better than him, he made the character become even more real and relatable to us, not just the typical high and mighty heavenly prince in other xianxia but a very special heavenly prince Shaodian Youqin of his own.

On rewatch the last episode, there's a point I didn't notice the 1st time. In 1st episode when Youqin and Yetan first met and were chased by Chao Feng, Yetan was planning to push Youqin in harm way but he told Yetan "don't be afraid" and protected her.
In last episode when Youqin was trying to bring Yetan out of Guixu, he told her "don't be afraid" again, and she looked back at him, but this time she pushed him away to protect the man she loves. I really love how many of the little details and lines said in this drama match together to reflect back the changes that happened throughout the story.

Thank you, I also read from another reply above that Viki has those comments. Unfortunately, I'm not in US and can't figure out how to bypass Viki region block yet. Perhaps I will have to wait longer for a rewatch when I finally find a way. Currently I'm rewatching on Chinese platforms to read comments or watch Chinese reaction makers do their reaction to see how they feel and think about what happen in each episode. That feels kinda like I'm watching again together with a friend, haha

It is pretty logical too. She got a direct hit from the Void queen and she only fainted but woke up quickly later without any lasting injury. The 1st time she got hit by the Void queen, she almost died.

By the way, I watched the episode where YQ 2.0 came back after 3 shards merged 2 days ago, and flying comments on Youku at that scene said that when YT ran in front of the shards to block the Void queen and was hit, the Iridescent eyes flashed and shielded her from the attack. It broke there after protecting her.

Oh, right. There's also the fireworks her father made for her sister in episode 1. She was kinda sad in the prison since no one made fireworks for her. Lamu and YQ 2.0 gave his own special fireworks for her and her only.

She never received presents for herself, and YQ 1.0 gave her the Swallow Star for herself, not because she was Qingkui and the new bride. MYQ bought her the flute and lots of presents too, the 1st time someone was willing to spend their money to make her smile.

She needed someone to understand how she lived being obstracized and blamed for something not her fault. She said even her sister couldn't understand her situation, and through Lamu, she got the person to finally understand all of her.

I also found a comment yesterday talking about what YQ 2.0 said before he bitchslapped that teacher for YT. He said he learned some informal techniques in Mortal Realm, then he slapped him. The comment I saw said that he actually learned that slapping technique after he was slapped around as Wenren by the ladies, LOL... It's so funny, but it actually makes total sense! Lamu and MYQ never slapped anyone or got slapped, only playboy Wenren got to experience it first hand, haha

He really is the shooting star for her. He made all her wishes come true. I find this set up very interesting. It's very subtle in the plot, they didn't said it outright to us, but what happened as the plot progress all connect together back and make so much sense. This is such a romantic and unique set up for our lead couple.

Some people might complain about the scriptwriter, but I think TSL has a very good script, leaving many subtle hints to connect everything together. The Chinese name of the drama is translated as "Falling stars solidifying into sugar" literally. Many viewers initially found this name too cringy to give it a watch, but the love story between our falling star deity YQ and YT really is as sweet as sugar, right? :)

1. She wished upon the star he gave her to become the strongest in 4 realms, she got it in the end. This is the only thing that can be said not really related to him since she was born with her power already. But if he fought against her, she wouldn't become the strongest in 4 realms so easily. Instead he chose to protect and support her. Even without his memory, he couldn't hurt her too.

2. She wished for sincere love and respect from others, she got it from him, from his family and some other deities in Heaven (except for his crazy father and some other nutcases, but they don't matter). And well, we have to admit, she got it because she was married to him. His family and other deities love him, so they love her too right from the beginning as his wife, then later for herself and for how strong she loves him back.

3. She wished to go to school, he let her go to school, went through troubles to help her get this chance, prepared books and stuffs for her to study, and later taught her himself.

4. She wished for a husband who loves her above 4 realms (she told him this before he left to fix Guixu), he became exactly that for her.

5. She wished for her father's love, he brought up the conversation with her father and forced him to admit his faults and his real feelings about her. Also, her father admited, he only dared to reveal his love for YT after he realized she has someone as strong as YQ to love and protect her. Without YQ, YT would never know her father does love her and receive that love. It's so touching her dream scene of playing chess with her father and sister became true later.
