I get that. When I first watched it I thought the same. I think I might have had expected just another light and easy romance drama back then.
Recently I watched it again but this time I've skipped all the scenes where main leads are not present. Long story short I am very touched by this story and how beautifully it has been built and executed.
Of course not all stories are good for everyone. People have different experiences, different needs and expectations but maybe give it one more try after a while and you might find something in it that will leave a warm feeling your heart as well.
My bet is that he left her because he thought that would be better for her. His dreams were not aligned with hers and he came to conclusion that he would only be a burden to her and that she deserves someone better than him. That would be a standard cliché thing to do in romance dramas. So far (up to ep 6) ML is portrayed as a perfect romantic fragile guy so his intentions for leaving her must be good as well.
