Title The King in Love Spoiler
interesting ending where second lead gets the girl, any other story like this one ?
Some dramas where the second lead ended up with the girl are:
- Love Alarm (romance)
- Girls Generation 1979 (period, youth, slice of life)
- Mama fairy and the woodcutter (fantasy, romance)
- Reply 1988 (period, youth, slice of life) although for this one i am not sure if he can be considered as second lead

For Historical dramas
- Empress Ki
- The Slave Hunters
- Jumong (though for this one, even though the second female lead got married to the male lead and stayed with him in the end, it is apparent that the male lead still have feelings for the female lead, although circumstances kept those feelings unexpressed)

When you watch this the first time, I would agree that there is an ambiguity with San's feelings, not to mention…
For those who already watched the show. What do you think about the following:

1. When did San unknowingly started to have feelings for the man she ended up with?
2. When did she started to acknowledge that she does have feelings for that man?

When you watch this the first time, I would agree that there is an ambiguity with San's feelings, not to mention the monologues that can be interpreted in different ways. One could be confused who her heart is really leaning to. However, towards the second half of the story, although there was no direct confession from her (although every supporting characters are aware who loves who), which I believe is really what's intended by the writer, it was heavily hinted and became apparent who she really loves romantically.

Now, knowing how things would turn out in the end, it's a good idea to rewatch the drama from the start cause a lot of the dialogues and monologues would start to make sense, and if for the first watch you would be focusing on trying to read between the lines thinking who she would end up with, the second watch would be more of "ohh so this is what she meant", i.e., realization on how those dialogues and monologues should be interpreted.

With that, dropping here that one monologue that could be ambiguous and could leave one pondering, but upon discovering what San truly felt (which at this point of the show I guess she too is confused with her feelings as well), makes perfect sense as to what "feelings" she really have for the two love interests.

"I was happy and in pain. The person who is always smiling at me has a sad smile, and it makes my heart ache. The person next to him would always avoid looking at me. Whenever I look at him, he would look somewhere else. It makes my heart ache.

Who among them makes my heart ache more?"

Rewatched this series after a couple of years. I personally loved the idea that the plot veered away from the classic kdrama trope where the rich, handsome, and popular boy gets the girl while the quiet, wholesome, lowkey, good boy just admire the girl from a distance and never got the chance to confess his feelings. However, I did feel like the execution of the plot was a bit messy and all over the place.

Nonetheless, I guess I'm one of the minority who prefers hye young over sun oh.
PS: loved the ending scene where all the moments where jojo have rang hye young's love alarm were shown
PSS: series' message would be more appreciated if one pondered on the importance of the shield and the spear and how it impacts our decisions in life/love

Omg so originally, Haein's cancer will relapse and was supposed to die in 2034, but since the tombstone photo was leaked before and due to negative reaction towards it, they apparently changed it to 2074???

Guys you may watch the movie Love Reset if you're looking for a quick watch that is quite similar to QOT. They have a couple of similar elements in their plot: married couple, comedy, romance, divorce, memory loss, in-laws bickering, and FL from a wealthy fam while ML from a humble fam. Main difference is that there is no villain and business/revenge plot involved in Love Reset, as it mainly focuses on the leads' marriage/divorce and the events after the memory loss. Also, in love reset, both the leads suffered from memory loss (due to a car accident).

Actually it's giving two different stories because I remember they changed the poster of the drama after the downfall…
Agree! Hope we'll atleast get a satisfying ending 🤞

What questions do you not have answers for?
1. Details on the miscarriage and a proper resolution I guess? This I believe is important as this was the reason why their marriage started to fall apart.
2. When Haein said that she was miserable in their 3 years of marriage, too. I felt like we were not given enough scenes to establish this, i.e., scenes that show how miserable she was
3. Backstory of Eunseong and his mom and why they plotted a 20 year (?) revenge plan against the Hong family
4. What happened to the eldest brother?
5. Haein is not yet aware that Hyunwoo was the one who saved her from drowning.

These are the ones at the top of my mind right now. Though I feel like some of these would be addressed in the finale ep.

There's just too many almost predictable "plot twists" shoved into the story. So instead of providing answers to questions from previous episodes that have already piled, I guess the first 30 mins or so of the final episode would now focus on the resolution of the recent conflicts that have arisen.

It seems to me that the first half of the show and the second half are two different stories, not literally per se, but in terms of the flow and the way that the plot was executed. The first half mostly focused on the complexities of the leads' marriage life and how they are starting to warm up to each other. This is what made me so into the show. As for the second half, although their marriage/relationship is still tackled, this was somehow overshadowed by the business/revenge plot. And while I do like certain portions of the second half, I personally feel that the writing became so lacking, that it failed to keep up with the momentum that the first half has built.

Title Curtain Call
The entire plot can be condensed into a 2 hour movie or a 6 episode miniseries. It would've been much better if that was the case.
