Are the leads doing their own voice overs or are they voiced over by a voice actor? This is a determining factor for I viewing. I checked Baidu and Douban but the complete cast was not showing on either yet when i checked.
I was surprised The Moon Brightens For You starring Xing Fei (aka Fair Xing) and Yu Meng Long was not on this list. So I added it although they are likely at the bottom of the list. This was a really fine Wuxia drama in 2020 and a great pairing.
There are a lot of kdramas on this "cdrama only" list! I guess the list creator has abandoned the list.
This is an ok drama. Its pacing is a bit slow: I am at Ep 16 and am finding I have to fast forward a few points. As a non-Chinese viewer there are certain moments in the drama that stand out to me as being pure propaganda on behalf the state so I am assuming their is some state funding as part of the project financing.
I find the script a bit "thin". Although I don't disagree with some sentiments that it is following a fairly "natural" pacing I do find on some of the dramatic tension the writers have injected to be more wearisome instead of the intended "heightening" of drama tension. Lots of well worn tropes in play in this drama and it suffers because of it. There really is a lack of communications oriented dialog in the drama particularly for the leads and also her family interactions. The cousin was the one person whom the writing placed proper dialog from the outset. Everyone else it is "acting through silence" and really just left wondering why everyone is so obstinate if not stupid.
Yang Yang and Wang Chu Ran are ok but both roles are really interchangeable for any of many actors out there. Out of this drama I learned that Yang Yang is much smaller physically then I had perceived through my previously viewed historical dramas - I though he was well over 2m and in reality I think he is about 175-180cm (with shoes!). Wang Chu Ran was still an inexpensive actress at the time this drama went into production. Pretty and inexpensive is a winning combination for producers of mid-level dramas.
At 8.3 score on MDL at the time I write this comment the drama is to me over rated. It is about a 7.7-7.9 which is not by any means a poor score. To me over 8 should be for higher quality in the various aspects of a drama and not just based on stanning for one of the leads.
Please comment about the project the drama leave Esther as a person alone for God's sake!honestly it is tiredsome…
Totally agree with you. She is a fine actress. You have to wonder just how stupid some people are that they feel the personae she has in some dramas is not "scripted". An actress & actor perform according to how they are directed and the script. That's it!
Xing Fei won an acting award last week for her acting in the character Ning Su Su at the 6th New Era International Television Festival. And looked fantastic.

I really enjoyed this drama. It was one of the mainstay releases of that year. All the main leads did a fine job. The 2 lead reviews by WandereR and ChineseDramaFan capture everything that I think about the drama.
My only quibble is that all the main character voices - lead and supporting actors are all voice dubbed by voice actors. I really hate that aspect of cdrama although it was very, very common. I want the real deal, not someone else's voice when I watch something. It just takes away from the enjoyment knowing that what I am hearing is not the actor I am viewing.
She's been on a nonstop glam tour lately...https://weibo.com/detail/5308367604028535https://weibo.com/detail/5308372718977522Adding…
She is really beautiful. Doing a lot of modeling shoots for different brands. But she needs to return to the screen. Her peer actresses are all pumping out dramas like a machine gun shooting bullets. I read some comments about she completing 2 shows recently but nothing is showing in the drama list above.
A really lovely woman but I have to laugh as various profiles on the web have her height varying from 5'2 to 5'5 inches or 158-167 cm. Xing Fei is at most 5ft tall and even that is likely a stretch. So for her to have built a career in an industry were taller is typically better is pretty remarkable. She is very pretty and a talented actress - I would like to see her lead a high caliber historical drama - I think she could kill it in such a role.
Married, has children, and formally announced retirement from acting in 2018. I saw an image of her in 2021 and she looked fantastic but she always was very beautiful - a knockout figure and very pretty face.
The 8.4 rating has to be from a ratings bomb. It is a cute fun movie. But it is not mid 8 quality even in a long stretch of the imagination.
The character development for the supporting actors was quite weak. But I think most of all my issue is the ending since there was no satisfactory explanation of Han Yun Seok reappearance.
It was nice to see some supporting actors: the fantastic Choi Gyu Ri who gave such a great performance in Marry My Husband supporting role, and Yoon Sang Hyeon who was a comedic master in Doctor Slump. But their characters here had little development and no explanation at all for their "status" at the end of the movie.
This is a superb drama. Loved everything about it. Watched it as part of a group of 4 women and 2 men. I can tell you we all believe Zhao Jin Mai is a amazing given how she can shed tears on demand, and several times the women in our group shed them with her! She has such a regal bearing - was a perfect fit for the role of Li Rong.
The confession scene (Ep 11 I recall) by Pei Wen Xuan to Li Rang was just superb writing and acting. Both of us who had our spouses with us looked them straight in the eye and told them that was how you express love.
Besides the great lead performances they were accompanied by many other fine performances. Actress He Qiu who played Qin Zhen Zhen was an absolute delight and we were surprised to read this was her first credited acting role (on MDL at least).
The MDL rating of 8.2 under scores this drama - it is easily in the 8.5-8.7 range.
I have already recommended this drama to several friends and it will be on my most recommended list for a long time I suspect.
Polished off this series a couple of weeks ago. The leads are both excellent. The story revolves around the female lead and Zhao Jin Mae was superb in that role. The male lead Song Wei Long was very believable in his role. The two leads presented a great story arc of their romance.
We loved the final episode that gave us a glimpse of their life post the culmination of their journey to loving each other.
The supporting cast were very good.
I rate about 8.6-8.7 (rounded to 9 for MDLs rating system). Highly recommend.
one of the worst SML goes to Zhuang Xu • Emotional Cowardice: He never openly admitted his feelings when she…
This does not make him "the worst" unless you mean in context of character. The character was generally detestable. Personally I do feel the actor was rather one dimensional in his ability to convey the emotions the script required.

It is just hate driven by jealousy.

Just stunning. She is so beautiful.
I recently found out she actually trained as an acrobat in her youth and teens including attending a special sporting school in her teen years.
