The features of trot music are brought out subtly in this drama.
I was pleased and surprised when I found that "Trot Lovers" or 'Lovers of Music" had come to my area of Canada. I adore music and this is a fun musical, full of the female lead singing with her heart in her voice! π
Trot is a short variation of foxtrot and is known for its two beat elements. It has an upbeat tempo, repetitive rhythm and vocal inflections. Trot was created during the Japanese colonial period and was focused on tragic lyrics until the 90s with the rise of K-pop. To keep pace with K-pop, trot turned into exciting music for entertainment value. Its rhythm presents sad reality in a fun, lively way using percussion instruments. πΈπ₯πΊπ»π·π»
The features of trot music are brought out subtly in this drama. A family has faced tragedy but rises above it through optimism, never gives up, and loves with dedication in spite of all life throws at them.π¨π£
I found the love story was typical, but that's what I find reassuring about K-drama. No matter what happens in the world, I can relax in the familiarity of boy meets girl, falls in love, and faces many obstacles which bring them closer together.πββοΈπββοΈ
I enjoyed the cast, was thoroughly entertained, and reveled in the music. The ending holds true to trot music: upbeat and celebratory. There were some lovely romantic moments as the main couple's lives intertwined.
The male lead had huge leaps in character growth while the female lead stayed true to herself as her fortunes steadily improved, but she remained a good, honest, kind person. I say, give me some predictability in today's chaotic world as I continue to be one of the "Lovers of Music."
