if you enjoy the genre then I’d definitely recommend watching S1 also, but you can watch without it. I’m watching S2 now for the first time & I’ve mostly forgotten the plot for S1 but it’s not making much of a difference. it’s a good standalone season on it’s own. there are definitely few references here & there if you can ignore them or maybe read a synopsis of S1 before starting S2.
