Lan Yingying and Fan Chengcheng have amazing chemistry! I'm so surprised at how good the storytelling, acting, and production design is. Only potential problem I see is wrapping up the various threads that were identified (there's a ALOT)

Agreed, I haven't been able to get into a single Xianxia since Ashes of Love and Love and Destiny, but this one gives me all the feels! Love the three main leads.

Me too. It threw me for a loop when the theme song of Royal Nirvana came on. I spent so much time trying to figure out what drama the bgm was from that I missed content! Probably to save money or they have the same music director.

After episode 7, I got the feeling that Xu Hai Qiao is actually the SML, but an evil one. He's more interesting here than in DOS or Marvelous Women.

This is the first Xianxia in YEARS that gives me the feels. I love Dylan's cold demon lord and Zhang Ling He's gentle but cautious God of War. Costumes, cinematography, music and general storytelling are high quality. Highly recommend!

I think they toned it down to just Lei Yu Zheng finding her drunk on the side of the street and helping her to a hotel. He had a bad impression of her when he met her with Zen Rong, and she claimed that she couldn't drink alcohol, when he knew she did drink previously.

Though there's some bad blood between Lin Xiang Yuan and Xiao Su from college. Not explained yet, but she avoids / fears her based on body language.

She's working so many jobs to earn money to pay Yu Zheng for the house that Zen Rong purchased for the two of them. Zen Rong apparently paid a small amount up front, but not the whole down payment. Xiao Su didn't come up with enough money so Yu Zheng was able to buy it instead. Yu Zheng made a deal with her that if she came up with the money in 30 days, he'd cede the house to her. Otherwise, she'd have to leave the company as well.

Yu Zheng starts forgiving her during these 30 days, around ep 9-10.

Not exactly clear why, but Aunt Shao (Zen Rong's mom) asked her to break up with him. It's hinted that Aunt Shao had a romantic entanglement with Xiao Su's dad in ep 11.

This is gold. Definitely the asshole btw.

My one complaint is that Miss Lan is such a tropey character. So far she just serves as character to help move the story forward when the rest of the characters are unavailable. Why would a dancer get invited into Japanese high society event?? And also she just conveniently knows and is relied on by Chen Mo Qun despite not being one of his informants. Also surprise, she getting married and needs money so willing to play spy for Lin Nan Sheng. Okay...

18/43 episodes down. Really impressed with the acting, music, production quality, and story this far. I came for Zhu Yi Long but honestly am most impressed with Wayne Wang's character - sharp, cunning, and absolutely ruthless. Tong Yao's acting range also impresses me. She plays a young school girl so effortlessly.

I don't believe for a second that Cheng Yuzhi died.

Caught up to ep 30. A little annoyed at the lazy storytelling where there will be a major plot twist and then a reveal where Jiang Yuelou shows how it was actually an elaborate scheme. Expect no difference with Cheng Yuzhi's death plot twist.

I think Jiang Sheng Nan is actually Yuelou's mother. Just a hunch given the dramatic set up.

Being really shallow here, but he's definitely not as beautiful in the Peking Opera make up as Shang Xirui. His chin is too sharp and long.

What the what? Did they drop six episodes this morning? Up to ep 24? I started watching ep 22 (because I thought I was 2 ep behind and was so lost).
