Honestly, I get itāFu Ling is evil. Sheās done so many horrible, unforgivable things that redemption feels impossible. But now that itās confirmed sheās actually Bai Xi, it makes you wonderāwhat really happened to her? And yeah, she can be so annoying sometimes, always pulling these sinister moves and causing chaos left and right. But even with all of that, I just canāt bring myself to hate her. Instead, I feel this weird sense of pity for her. If sheās been manipulated by the "Eternal" or is it that she is surrounded by all these terrible people whoād kill her at the first sign of weakness, it makes you wonder if sheās just been living in constant fear. She's probably going to have a redemptionābut not a full āIām good nowā moment, but maybe a tragic one, like sacrificing herself to make up for everything. Itās sad, but at this point it is the only way her story can end.
You know whoās really getting annoying now? Chong Zhao. Heās so convinced heās this righteous savior, always acting like heās doing the noble thing by being a double agent. And letās not forget how he keeps acting like heās the only good thing in Bai Shouās life, as if she canāt make her own decisions or find strength without him. At least Fu Ling knows sheās evil and doesnāt hide behind a facade. But with Chong Zhao, everything feels fake, like heās projecting this image of being the āgood guyā while ignoring the consequences of his actions.
I really need Chong Zhao to take a hard look at himself and realize heās not as righteous as he thinks he is. And that not everyhting is black and white. He needs to stop thinking heās above everyone else and start considering other peopleās feelingsāespecially Bai Shouās. Like boy c'mon, I am trying to like you lol
At this point, the only thing keeping me invested in Moonlight Mystique is seeing how Fu Ling and Chong Zhaoās story unfolds. Itās clear their journey is headed for tragedy, and while Iām not usually a fan of toxic relationships, the sizzling chemistry between them is hard to ignore. The actors have executed their roles so well that itās impossible to look away, even when their dynamic feels destructive. That said, I canāt imagine how Fu Ling and Chong Zhao could ever find redemption, and maybe thatās part of the intrigue. Fu Ling absolutely steals every scene sheās in and leaves such a strong impression
Iām sad to say Iām dropping this one despite starting it with high hopes, mainly because of my admiration for Vin Zhang since his 3L3W days. Unfortunately, this drama just isnāt working for me. Unlike so many others on here, I canāt feel any spark or romance between the leads. Even the core trio lacks chemistry or camaraderie, which makes their dynamic fall flat.
That said, I do love the idea of a strong, seductive female lead like Sun Zhenniās Holy Maiden of the Dark Abyssāsheās unique, and Sun Zhenni is undeniably talented. However, her portrayal starts feeling repetitive and overly dramatic, which dampens the initial impact. The plot doesnāt help eitherāitās way too predictable, and the memory loss trope (one of my least favorite tropes) really dragged things down for me.
Itās a shame because the potential was there, but I just couldnāt connect with this one šø
Damn, I have really underestimated Miles Wei abilities as an actor. LOL I haven't really watched his work and only seen him here and there in some support roles and thought he's handsome and an average actor... but dang, he blew me away with his acting as the momma/daddy boy and scumbag of a husband role. Everything about his character just makes my blood boils! Yang Zi never fails and continues to outdo herself evrytime. And Li Xian continues to steal every scene he's in!
Is it just me, or am I the only odd one out who just cannot feel the chemistry between the leads? Like, I absolutely love how headstrong and powerful our MXL isāsheās such a perfect match for our strong, righteous, and stoic XXC. Itās a classic ārighteous vs. evilā love story, and everything about them should click, but for the life of me, I just donāt feel it. Even with all the skinship moments, itās just not hitting. Honestly, all I care about is the second male leadāheās so elegant in every way he moves, and thereās such an air of mystery about him. Maybe Iām just hopelessly stuck in second male lead syndrome because heās stealing all my attention. Ugh, why are they always written so heartbreakingly perfect?
I binged the first 5 episodes. This is classic xianxia drama complete with all the tropes, so people who love…
I totally agree with your comment! Ao Rui Peng is clearly trying, but I feel like he hasnāt fully captured the charisma and presence that a character like this needs. When you think of characters like DFQC in Love Between Fairy and Devil or TTJ in Till the End of the Moon, they had this natural, commanding auraāyou could feel their power and dominance even before they said a word.
With Ao Rui Peng, I feel like heās missing that effortless dominanceāa sense of power and superiority that should naturally radiate from a demon lord. He also needs to work on a more layered performance, where his movements, expressions, and voice convey the weight of being an all-powerful and complex character. Right now, it feels like heās trying to "act" powerful rather than being powerful. But itās only been 5 episodes, so Iām hopeful heāll grow into the role as the story progresses. He has the potentialāit just needs to click!
That being said, Iām so excited to see how Bai Shou and Fan Yueās love story unfolds, but Iām also equally intrigued by Fan Ling and Chong Zhouās storyline. Both pairs bring such different dynamics, and I canāt wait to see how their stories evolve!
