I see a lot of comments about her ending, why suicide? This is how I see it. I think Xue Zi Yue’s decision to end her life made sense given the circumstances. It wasn’t about heroism in the traditional sense—it was more about finding peace on her own terms. She had already been heroic by taking down the villain and doing what she needed to protect others. Not to mention, she had been suffering her entire life, her illness and the not letting go of her dead brother. And by this point, she had been poisoned, and there was no cure. If she didn’t take her own life, she would have faced a painful and ugly death from the poison. In a way, it was about choosing dignity and a peaceful end rather than suffering through something that couldn't be undone. It was her way of accepting the inevitable while staying true to the calm, strong character she had been throughout the story.
The fact that Huo Zhan Bai didn’t get to see Xue Zi Yue before she died was absolutely gut-wrenching. It left such an emotional ache because we know how much they meant to each other. But at the same time, it made sense—Huo Zhan Bai believed she was already safe at her apothecary, and his mind was completely focused on taking down Chang Wu Jue. He was still driven by the mission at hand.
If he had seen her in her final moments, I fear he would never have let her go. He would’ve done anything to keep her alive, or perhaps even tried to bring her back, much like how she clung to the hope of reviving her brother.-or how he spent 8 years of his life finding a cure for Mo'er but to no avail. That would have only prolonged her suffering, both emotionally and physically-this including his suffering too. In a way, not seeing her allowed him to avoid that internal struggle and gave Xue Zi Yue the space to leave peacefully, making the scene even more powerful and bittersweet.
I mean, the ending is right there in the synopsis, not sure why so many people chose to watch & complain when…
Gosh! I knew the ending and still stuck with it all to the end. I'm not happy about it but it somehow was a suited ending. And JZ and LQ did so well in here, I am left emotionally wrecked 😭
Like Li Qin, I prefer BE, because it's only in dramatic scenes that we can see or discover the actor's or actress's…
I don't think this was a BE but rather a SE. But I do agree with your reasoning. JZ portrayal of finding out about her death was truly heartbreaking. His face, the way his eyes was glistening from the tears like he wanted to cry but did not want to because he did not want to believe that she was really gone was *chef's kiss.* And then when he cried out loud and started to hit the ground, I felt his pain. I couldn't stop crying. JZ really did so well in this drama.

OMG! Please tell me this is not how the drama will end. I saw this on dramapanda "At the end of the novel, the heroine gets poisoned while trying to save Tong. As she lies dying, the male lead passes by without recognizing her." You mean to say they don't even get to bid farewell to each other!!!!
Hye Yeon is so adorable. Girl is too good for the people she works with. And the fact that she is more worried about how she was taken than the "issue" itself 😂 I am slso rooting for her and Ju Yeon. I think they have potential and are super adorable too. Also, the way he calls her 😊 sounds so endearing 🤷♀️ but then it could also just be him being formal .
