This 2nd season was soooo much better than the first (Himalaya) and I found myself comfortable watching all of it on normal speed and rarely hit the FF button. (I watched the first season of this series in 1.5 speed with the FF button to get the background. 1st season was watchable but kind of blah for me. ) The pacing in this drama is good, rarely a boring moment. The most annoying character turns out to be kind of cute and endearing about 2/3rd through so you don't have to deal with the typical insane screechy jealous 2FL for too much of this drama. The themes explored are deep and disturbing though delivered through a PG13 drama so not too heavy. There is tension but not too much, and though some repetition its repetition that makes sense. I love the side characters too, lots of cuteness and laughter. Overall highly recommended!
This is Yaya and Nadech's first drama together and though both are young and inexperienced actors in it, you can already see their blooming talents in acting. Both of them have extremely expressive faces, are never stiff and deliver their lines with full emotion with little micro movements or expressions to really give life to every scene. Thoroughly impressed with the beginnings of this star couple. I watched every drama of them together (backwards chronologically) and recommend each and every one. In reverse chronological order: 1. Crown Princess - (Great acting and plot/directing so bad its good.... ridiculous fight scenes that make you LOL) 2. Leh Lub Salub - (This shows off the incredible acting skills of this pair... and is hilarious) 3. Rising Sun 1 & 2 (season 1 is blah but their scenes together are gold, season 2 is about them and their chemistry is off the charts) 4. Toranee Nee Krai Krong - This is my favorite of theirs, the story also teaches you about sustainable farming and they are soo cute and adorable in this. 5. Game Rak Game Rai - First half of this drama is amazing, then it gets crazy thai lakorn style, but still fun to watch. And the chemistry is great.
Starting to watch, on ep 1 and the main character's acting is soooooo bad. I am super confused why people are complimenting this drama in the comments. The sidekicks had much better chemistry in their scene in the hospital for ep 1 than the Main Couple. More interested in their story at the moment. In this first episode The FL 's acting is overdone and so fake, her voice is screechy she seems better suited to play a Nang Rai than a Nang Ek. the ML has the same dull expression on his face the whole time... and his fake tatoo makes his man boob looks super cringe and ridiculous. If they were gonna give him a fake tatoo, arm or back would have made so much more sense than a dragon wrapping around his not very toned pectoral area. He is a good looking guy and this tattoo is just really really bad and unflattering. Also The story thus far also ugh stupid and none of their actions make sense. The joke in ep one she tried to do in English with the Daikon raddish was stupid as heck. She should be trying to hitch hike or go to a police station. How would telling a random raddish seller on the street you want to fly home to Thailand help at all? Even if the woman understood Thai its a totally weird pointless thing to tell a stranger..... Im getting the feeling this character will be fully lacking of any common sense and heavy on the stupid, ..... sigh..... gonna give it a few more eps cause good ratings but really low expectations now... Hope it gets better... Edit: I watched till ep 3. The sidekick's story and chemistry was good, The 2nd lead has betteracting and is more convincing than the ML, The FL/ML relationship still has no chemistry after 3 eps and the story is still stupid. Also in ep 3 there was a "shirtless battle" where both the guys had those awful fake nipple wrapping tattoos on their chests so as they battled my eyes kept seeing a pasty white manboob pec with nipple wrapped in shiny black fake tattoo.... if the point of this shirtless scene was to push these guys as sexy .... it failed 100%.... I really wish my eyes could unsee that.... ----- Dropped!
So this season was much more interesting than the first season which i felt was really blah. The Nadech Yaya chemistry is off the charts. Especially their earlier scenes in the series, wow... super "feels" producing with the perfect sprinkle of humor and hilarity.
The Plot.... was a mess, and you need to turn off your brain as is normal with Lakorns... and I mean turn it off... grind it to mush and just don't think..... cause...
The FL , typically flawless, kind, forgiving, gentle, and a neurosurgeon.... is also lacking of common sense and is ridiculously stupid.... just ... ohhh so much stupid... sigh. However she is also kickass and not a damsel in distress so that was good.
The ML, ahh nadech was sizzling in this role, Ryu, hotheaded, passionate, but has an iron self control (where he is able to sleep in the same bed as his love which he is crazy about and not do the deed.... for months or possibly years...) ahh, Asian dramas, Where though the MLs act like experienced playboys, they are actually just super sexy virgins for most of the series.
And also a bunch of other ridiculous stupidness where characters find out other characters are evil or murderers but instead of warning others they confront the evil ones by themselves, unarmed, in private.... characters are "blackmailed" in plots that make no sense, characters plan elaborate deceptions or keep elaborate secrets... which really don't matter or have any real effect on the plot except adding unnecessary drama......
still, if you like N-Y chemistry this lakorn is totally watchable. Season one is nice to watch to see them first fall in love too. As to rewatch - maybe only the N-Y scenes..
Watched most of this on 2x or 1.5x speed. The "They are all supposed to be Japanese living in Japan though they are all Thai (mostly look-krung Actors) speaking Thai" was hilarious. Also the random actual Japanese phrases they did use or tried to focus on. (They got "Anata" kind of right, but *Kimi* is an impolite way to say "You" and not a romantic endearment, but since I turned my brain off for this ....sure. ) But what got me the most was the ending scene.... WTF???? Alligator???!! hahahahaah!?!?!? (Thats not really a spoiler at all don't worry) I just LOLd and Rolled my eyes......
As for the romance/story: The main couple were boring with no chemistry. The Nadech/Yaya scenes were cute and both NY actors brought some refreshing extra depth to otherwise pretty flat characters. I watched the NY scenes normal speed. They are interspersed through the drama in most episodes. The fight scenes were pretty cool. The villain Kenichi was intense but also kind of cool. The 2FL villian-ess was typical shrieky thai lakron jealous possessive sociopath girl. The villains "love story" was much more interesting than the main couple's though, I liked NY's storyline the most.... but im probably biased as I came here after 3 NY dramas....hard to get enenough of them.... they are a very enjoyable couple to watch on screen with great acting.
This was a weird drama to watch, as it kept me hooked and entertained..... and I enjoyed it, and don't regret the time watching it even though...
the story was ridiculous, the plot required serious suspension of disbelief, the acting was very makjang-ish, the writing was like for a kids cartoon where the villians and protagonists explain their motives and actions in monologues to their antagonists, and there was lots of over-acting, especially in the male and vilaness roles ( I think the over-acting was on purpose to get that kind of makjang-ish effect). Those things were actually not an issue though, and I totally enjoyed the craziness once I turned off my brain.
Biggest disappointment though was kiss scenes were kind of meh, especially considering the Main couple are married in real life... oh well. There was good chemistry between the couples however.
It is very loosely based on Emperor Wencheng and Emperess Feng's rise to power, Though of course only a tiny bit of the history is left intact. Mostly it's very heavily re-written and some true to history roles are merged, or change from good to bad or or powerful to weak ot whatever to create a very watchable gripping romance story with multiple little mysteries that is entertaining but also kind of like.... they are gonna try to ...... again? even after failing so many times??? Really? don't these characters ever learn???? LOL.
The drama didn't do a good explanation of it but if you read the novel, you'll understand. ML is an immortal and…
Yeah after I finished the drama I read the epilogue of the novel written from the ML's point of view. Those scenes really should have been put in the beginning of the drama and also the beginning of the book not as an epilogue.
For those who have not watched the drama yet, read this epilogue first after watching episode one or before watching the series, it will give you insights into the ML's reasons for liking the FL and prevent you from scratching your head like... huh? throughout. This epilogue scene is more like a short prequel and doesn't really have spoilers.
I watched this on 1.25/1.5 speed.... I like Bifern but just couldn't find anything attractive, acting, physically, or personality wise in either of the ML. The story is ridiculous and from the beginning you need active suspension of disbelief to get through it. Yet it was ok as a brainless watch. Right now I am learning Thai language so my main goal in watching was listening practice and it fulfilled that at least.
As many of the comments state, this would have been a much better drama. There was just not enough time for the relationships between the characters to develop to really care about them. The relationship of the FL was the only one that kind of touched me, but not the "past one". (deliberately ambiguous to avoid spoilers). I am not personally partial to BL , and if people didn't mention it in the comments I would not have even noticed any hint of it more than spontaneously fast strong friendship, so its really not a big deal, for better or worse depending on one's preferences. The acting, CGI, sets, and costumes were gorgeous. Lots of eye candy too... seeing both Mark Chao and Deng Lung in one movie, and then discovering that Gong Zi from Bloody Romance was also in it...(Wang Duo)... Kyaa, my eyes... (made me want to rewatch TMOPB and AOL... never get bored of either of those) ....and so many lovely shirtless and abs scenes... haha this was basically just a big fan service movie with light plot. First half of the movie is kind of blah (watched on 1.25 speed), second half has most of the plot and fan service... FYI.
My favorite Romantic dramas with that don't break your heart and sometimes make you laugh out loud: Chinese: Romance of Tiger and Rose Let's Shake it (seasons 1 and 2) Romance of Hua Rong Fake Princess Accidentaly in Love Jade Palace
Korean: Extraordinary You My Secret Romance Splash Splash Love Legend of the Blue Sea Oh my Venus -oldies but totally re watchable and still amazing: Secret Garden Fated to Love You Master's Sun My Lovely Sam Soon
nice thanks for another recommendation. I just kind of finished Nothing Gold will Stay..... totally different genre, amazing romance, production, story, acting. but on the tragedy side... Feel like my heart was beaten with a meat cleaver.... I had to skip episodes cause it was so intense emotionally, though its definitely an amazing drama if you want something more mature and intense.... With strong "feels" but also tragedy.
Can anyone explain their meeting on ep 72 for me? Everything that happened in that room with the red until fireworks were watched... Was that real? Was it a dream? it didn't feel real.. like some random fan service.... is it supposed to be part of their cannon? (wrote the scene ambiguously on purpose to prevent spoilers)
This drama is sitting very heavily in my mind, entering my dreams... the acting is phenomenal , the production is fantastic, the action scenes are awesome, and the emotions that come out of it are intense. However it was too intense. At ep 47 I stopped as I knew things were gonna get tough again and it was like... seriously? does she have to go through so much?... then I read spoilers,
I was still really invested in the OP though , but could not stomach everything I read in the spoilers,so I went to the end and watched ep 74, then 73, and continued watching the episodes backwards until 59 ff and skimming... Watching it backwards took away the suspense and made whatever tragedies happened in those episodes a bit more bearable... Then I went back to 47 and watched till 52.... 52 is a wonderful ep, but because of spoilers I stopped at at ep 52 30m122. From spoilers I know what is supposed to happen next between ep 53-58, and its just too much for me. So with this forwards, backwards, skipping all around way of watching this, I will choose to have my ending my ending at ep 52 - 30m12s. That is how intense and heart wrenching this drama made me feel, I gave it an 8.5.
This lakron made me laugh out loud in like half the episodes. The Humor was really spot on! It kept changing genres from romance to comedy to ghost to detective/police/thriller..... but it still somehow kept it together. For a Thai drama I would say it was really good. I preferred the secondary couple over the leads but both couples were cute
I finished the drama over a week... It had an intricate story with many plot twists, some that were kind of predictable and some that were brilliant and wow. This drama had amazing potential, and I do think it was entertaining and worth the watch BUT.....
On the last episode a little child in one scene sticks out his tongue and goes BLEH! - that's how I felt when I finished the drama. The directing/editing was too sloppy, there were many HUH? scenes or just ridiculous transitions and time skips that with better directing/editing could be easily fixed, but all those things kept taking me out of the drama in frustration and then I had to stop, maybe write a venting comment, and then start again... Also it dragged in the late middle episodes so by the middle of the drama I was watching most of it on 1.25 speed with my hand over the ff button. Also, for almost half or more of the drama the FL or some other character passes out in each episode.... I really thing this drama should be called sleeping princess silver.....
Started off kind of meh and cheesy, then started getting more interesting around ep 4 or so... then ep 11 it started getting stupid cheesy again. --- Before ep 11 I saw the ML falling for the FL and that was good, but then the way he acted after that.... i got him turning her into a maid cause of the mean things she said to him, but when he obviously started to show feelings for her again he spontaneously got all pissed again. The whole dancer thing, dress thing, getting kicked out thing.... were kind of meh for me.... then the stupid bet (with no real consequences) that he will come before 1am..... and then she totally forgives him and they are super happy... like huh? it was too sweet, like painful sweet. I found the kiss scenes also uncomfortable. I could see the dry makeup on his lips during the closeup and it looked gross. Not sure if I will watch past ep 11..... I dont find the "who killed my mom/weird assasins, court drama stuff very interesting in this yet.... and I heard they will get separated again...
Amazing first half... super fun, interesting, unpredictable, great adventure... I would have given it a 10.
But then the second half happened. the story was still interesting, unpredictable, fun and binge-worthy.... but slowly and surely it all became kind of a mess. The first biggest sin was the FL devolved into an entitled selfish brat. As she got more and more annoying I started to really dislike her and that just killed the OP romance for me. I couldn't root for the secondary romance for the same reasons.
By the last few eps I kind of was rooting for the bad guys and their "relationships" cause the good guys were getting so annoying. I watched the last ep at 1.5 speed cause I just didn't care anymore.
I'm on ep3 and so far am really disappointed with the acting and directing of the FL. (and other characters are also just meh so far) The FL apparently according to the script is supposed to be "unfeeling". She claims she cannot feel/hear/distinguish what is nice or not nice. No feeling of joy, pleasure, pain, fear.... Thats what she SAYS.... but then why is she screaming out in fear from the 1st ep falling to the ground, shivering in the cold , screaming from the wind, showing obvious liking and disliking of things, and when not screaming from fear or shock from whatever.... is generally happy, light-hearted, and bubbly. For a person who feels neither pleasure or pain she should be acting stoic. Why is she acting like a stereotypical cute bubbly happy FL? The script and the acting don't match up at all. This is taking serious suspension of disbelief.
Does the directing/Acting get better? I love Xianxia and from comments so far this sounds like it is a much loved drama with great potential but im wondering are everyone on this site's standards just super low now or does this get better?
By ep11 i'm kind of over all the main characters... They are all messing up their own lives with lying, impatience, refusing to make effort to communicate properly, grabbing, forcing, etc. Gun is not too bad but as a SL he is doomed to SL fate. And FL and ML are just a toxic mess. (and don't get me started on the dads.. ugh)
What I really DO like is the side "cafe" couple. They seem to be the only "healthy" friendship/potential relationship in the show. I love that their interaction and mutual interest is based on real friendship and clicking of personalities. I love that their relationship is not based off of lust or physical attraction like the guys that are into Mitra. Whether they get together romantically or not, they are lovely to watch together and I love the mental growth of Chen as he gets closer to cafe lady
This main couple is soo cute. Season 1 is fully subbed on AVV and Season 2 is subbed until ep 21 on dramacool, (but last updated 2019 :( ). Hope someone picks this up soon and finishes subbing the last 5 episodes. This is a really adorable drama, silly, funny, also heart-wrenching at times. The main couple is beautifully in love, and besides for some light and short noble-idiocy miscommunication, are actually a healthy couple. The story is continuously surprising, kind of all over the place but in a fun way. Great acting too!
(I watched the first season of this series in 1.5 speed with the FF button to get the background. 1st season was watchable but kind of blah for me. )
The pacing in this drama is good, rarely a boring moment.

I watched every drama of them together (backwards chronologically) and recommend each and every one. In reverse chronological order:
1. Crown Princess - (Great acting and plot/directing so bad its good.... ridiculous fight scenes that make you LOL)
2. Leh Lub Salub - (This shows off the incredible acting skills of this pair... and is hilarious)
3. Rising Sun 1 & 2 (season 1 is blah but their scenes together are gold, season 2 is about them and their chemistry is off the charts)
4. Toranee Nee Krai Krong - This is my favorite of theirs, the story also teaches you about sustainable farming and they are soo cute and adorable in this.
