if you want to watch a healthy but also hits the feels romance, low drama but still interesting, light but also heartwarming, intelligent, well plotted and excellent acting, with the bonus of learning about the publishing industry... this is it. (however it can be a bit slow at times so better to watch with some breaks over time, not perfect for binge-watching)
I am never disappointed with Ryan Ding and his agent seems to have a great eye for picking excellent scripts. I did not know Esther Yu before this and at first was put off by her voice, but quickly the voice and childlike mannerisms became endearing as the character she portrays is mature, independent, smart, and brave. The second couple in the show is very attractive and has fiery chemistry, their story was a bit boring though, and the only weakness in the show. I FF a lot of their story but it didn't lessen my impression of the drama as a whole. even with the weak second couple plot, 9.5/10
Good movie. I was expecting action and fantasy but was surprised to get a lot of heartfelt moving scenes that almost brought tears. Usually I don't like those kinds of scenes but the balance with the action, special effects, and sporadic comedy made the moving movie not too heavy and I was able to appreciate the heart-wrenching scenes and not feel too uncomfortable. Plot had a Unique concept I had not seen before. And I was definitely left with a desire to see the sequel. Excellent acting, good special effects, good plot pacing and editing but I don't think this movie has high re-watch value. I recommend it for a one-time watch. 9/10
Really well done. It felt like a Drama's worth of info in a movie but it didn't feel rushed or confusing. All star cast was also delivered excellent acting. Pacing and editing were good. Special effects and sporadic humor also added some nice spice to the film. I don't think i would re-watch it but Highly recommend for a one-time watch.
The first 5 episodes were fun and fresh. I laughed and was excited about it. There was also cute mirror parodying of drama cliches as the grandpa watched the show on TV. But around ep 6 the actual show just became full of all the cliches it was parodying. The show became super predictable and for me kind of boring. I like the actress, she did a good job. The male lead's acting was pretty standard "cold man"... nothing special. One good thing is the second couple's story was interesting and watchable. I actually enjoyed their story more than the MC at times. Other good things is not too many misunderstandings and misunderstandings were resolved quickly. The show might be nice for people who have not seen many dramas before or actually like cliches... but I found myself FF most of the latter episodes, and the last episode i skipped big parts of it because it was boring and predictable. 7/10.
A meh start, a super fun and humerous addicting middle run, but then deflates to a draggy, boring cliched finish.
The first ep starts very slow and already feels very cliched... but then some very genius comedy scenes and the strong backbone of the FL grabbed my interest and I binged it all night... When the focus is on the comedy and kick-ass wit of the FL the drama is a win.
... but around episode 15 or 16 or so the comedy seems all used up and it starts dragging again. It reverts to typical drama tropes, and beating you on head with hints about a super predictable plot twist.
The rest of the "plot" or story is really hard to care about. Especially when the "you must choose me or them" ultimatum is painted as healthy and a proof of true love.
Additionally, either the acting and/or the script for the grandma character is horrible. Her fake wig and cartoon villian-ish personality makes it hard to take anything she does or says seriously.
Further dragging the plot and being pushed in the viewer's face is a focus on a 2nd couple romance that is really forced and kind of gross too.
Also around ep 18 or 19 the main characters start to act out of character, making them less likable and making me less interested in them or their story.
Finally a cliche suspense "cliff-hanger" in ep 10 made me lose interest in the drama. I really have no interest in watching ep 20.
Its a shame cause the leads are super attractive and the comedy writing in the series was really fun. I have had similar reactions to other dramas staring Mai Davika, though the fault is in the script not her.
This drama started off amazing... until about ep 7 or so it was adorable, fresh, cute, exciting... then suddenly it seems like all the fresh ideas they had ran out and they turned it into a tropy cliche romance drama where the plot kept repeating itself and the script became progressively worse and worse so bad im amazed I actually made it through 24 eps... (I FF most of the last 4 eps or so.... )
After about 7 eps or so The cool "superpowers" of the Alien FL that brought some reallly fun and cool fantasy into the drama suddenly started to barely exist like she forgot about them except for rare instances where the plot needs a Dues Es Machina.
Her personality and super powers started to get extremely inconsistent and contradictory, it felt like the script writers were making up the rules for her personality and powers as they went, instead of having it planned out before the series started.
The the "medicine" and "science" are so ridiculously bad you have to completely turn your brain off.
This started off as a cute fantasy sci-fi romance but turned into a business takeover plot..... WHY? When there are aliens and superpowers and a weird but interesting selective amnesia plot, why bother with the boring business story? It would have been ALOT better if they just went full fantasy/sci-fi and focused more on that instead of the stupid mom, uncle, and wannabe girlfriend trying to do a corporate take-over.
The romance and kissing scenes in the beginning were super cute and lovely . (though too "frozen" but better than other dramas). The main couple have great chemistry and lots of skin-ship, but for the last third or so of the drama I stopped liking the Main Couple cause they decided to go deep into Noble Idiocy (My least favorite trope).... and that trope went on for waaaay too many episodes both of them taking turns at being idiots then doing it again.
This drama had SOOO much potential in the beginning.... I don't know what happened, and why they basically abandoned the original story and character outlines to turn it into a cliche drama and feels like it was written by 12 year old watpad fanfiction authors, Such a shame....
If you like the premise of this drama and want to see it done RIGHT - Check out "Let's Shake It season 1 and 2". That drama took the silly, the crazy, the magic, and ran with it in all the right ways...instead of just using the fantasy at the begining to catch you and then bait and switch turning it into a cliche disapproving family corporate takeover plot. Wish this one had gotten some hints from Let's Shake It
Watched some clips on youtube and it looked promising, came here, read the comments, had doubts but tried it anyway.... first few eps were good.... then it started getting stupid and dragging. The comedy is very badly acted or directed. The acting for the romance and dramatic scenes is much better. They should have just dropped the cringy cartoon like comedy. I think they could not decide what genre to make this. I dropped at ep 16 but was already FF a lot from ep 10 or so. Also the Lan Tian (2ml)'s acting is horrible. He just stands there with a blank expression and sometimes does an angry glare with his eyes that looks like he is constipated. The voice actors for this drama also did not match up the voices with the acting very well and often "over-acted". I recommend just watching the cute romance you-tube clips and maybe the beginning . That's it.
lol feel you about the fiancé thing too. Thai dramas realy make you love and hate the relationship between the…
Yeah the ending was ridiculous. For them to get back together in any believable decent way maybe they need a 2-3 year time skip, then he comes to France and courts her for a whole episode, acting loving and responsible. The "nice" way he acted while she was pregnant does not count at all cause as far as she was concerned he was only doing that for the baby, not for her. I watched 8-9 raw and skipped eps 10-12 cause of no subs so maybe there was something in those eps to show that they actually had fallen in love with each other, but I kind of doubt it since it seems those eps were all her being in Jail and being accused and hated by him since ep 13 is when she is finally found innocent. Basically from the scene where she lost the baby on she started acting out of character, giving a long monologue how she lost and apologizing to him and all that.... and being devastated about losing the baby that she didn't even want. It seemed OOC she would suddenly be so heartbroken about it. Even though she didn't do the abortion I feel it was more cause it was a shady place with blood on gloves and looked dirty. Not cause she really cared about the fetus. Anyway, the acting of the ML was great. I loved the FL in the beginning and she played a really convincing drunk, but i feel she was a bit too much at the end. And.... sigh... Though I enjoy watching the crazies in these S/K dramas I wish they didn't let the rapists off with a happy ending every time. Or much much longer intense redemption scenes.... Especially this guy raped her constantly for almost a whole year.... really hard to believe she would want to get back together with him.
Good beginning, refreshing to have a "leaning avoidant" FL and anxiously attached MLs. Also nice how the FL recognized the unhealthy attachment styles of the MLs and called them out on it. There was some interesting psychology in this drama and for it's time it was quite good.
The CONS: it definitely suffers from a few weird plot holes and kind of out there story that is hard to believe, some shallowly written side-characters whose motivations are not really explained, some weird bad editing, and ....ugh... noble idiocy (Not too much that it ruins the drama, but I really hate the Noble idiocy trope.) However there were no real stupid characters (besides some of the side ones), so that was good. I recommend this if you don't mind the low production value from 2010 and encountering the tropes I mentioned above. The psychology in the story was definitely unique and interesting.
The ML in this is wonderful. The main couple has a lot of steamy scenes and look good together...... Everything else is a dumpster fire. The plot requires you to turn off your brain really hard or believe that people who act crazy and throw fits everywhere in public are also successful CEOs of major companies. The FL is great in ep 1 then quickly becomes annoying around episode 2 or 3. All she has going for her is she is attractive, and it is hard to believe the ML would want to stay with her with her stupid, suspicious, and selfish personality. She keeps this personality for most of the drama too. The side characters are almost ALL psycho. Not 1 psycho, not 2 psychos... but its almost a whole cast of psychos. Halfway through some of the psychos suddenly become sane good people also, and then are just replaced with other psychos. Motivations of characters are seriously lacking and stretched. I am on ep 11 now, not sure if I will continue or not.... but truthfully cannot recommend this drama except for watching the dreamy perfect ML and his pure unyielding supportive love for the FL (That he fell for basically cause she is hot....). That's it.
This lakorn is definitely different than the standard S/K. I personally think it is worth a watch though you need to kind of prepare your heart to go through a lot. The Slaps and kisses in this drama are justifiable and make sense and not just for romantic tension. There is violence born out of extreme emotions and there are characters with severe anger and possessiveness issues that really need to be medicated and/or in the psycho-ward, but... I heard Thailand does not have very good mental health care available so in a way a lot of the cray cray in this drama makes sense and you don't need to really turn your brain off like other typical lakorns. As expected the relationships in this drama are toxic and unhealthy but they are not all black. As is normal with life there is a lot that is in the gray zone where often you don't know which ship you want to cheer or which ship you want to break up. The ending I found done well and satisfying, also believable.
So if you can watch a drama where things may go really bad.... and then worse, and then maybe a bit better, and the way through them is not the magic of everything is ok again, but slow acceptance and time, then you might really appreciate this drama. Truthfully, I almost dropped the middle of this lakorn , especially as all was going to heck... then I read spoilers of what happened at the end to remove, the tension and then was able to watch the rest and don't regret it. (I personally don't like a lot of tension but those that do would really appreciate this drama.) Also truthfully, I barely hit the FF button watching this. I did watch it at 1.25 / 1.5 speed though. But the side characters stories were fleshed out and important enough as there was no part that I just wanted to skip.
Interesting and refreshing story. I think the plot was good. The Chemistry between Tantawan and Sunny was smoking, But I did not feel any chemistry at all between Tatawan and Chalam so it was really hard for me to get into the parts of the story that had them together. Not sure if it was an acting thing or just those two actors don't match as well, or maybe Sunny's chemistry and screen presence was too powerful it overshadowed Sky. I understand the theory behind the intricate complicated feelings and choices the characters made but the lack of chemistry with the 2nd guy just made the parts of the drama that focused on him a bit frustrating for me.
The story was enjoyable and a bit fresh with the revenge coming from the female side. Mookdah was fantastic in this as a cool girl that doesn't let emotions control her. Mike really put me off in this though. He kept making these cringy weird faces that I guess were supposed to be sweet or sexy but really they were just cringe. Personally , even with that amazing torso, if a guy I met kept making those faces it would be a total turn off. It didn't ruin the drama but made his character much less believable for me as a total heartthrob that everyone falls for. Even with those cringe faces though there was still good chemistry between M & M and the scenes with Mookdah and the kid were gold, even though the kid was not a good actor he was cute and his scenes were sweet and adorable. They made the lakorn worth the watch the most.
As for the side characters, I liked Motdaeng (her name means red ant and she has that personality too). I was not a fan of the guy they matched her with though. I really liked the uncle character. I loved how he was a man who did not say much, but the words he did say had a very strong impact. His actor did a great job. The crazy over-acting family of the ML really put me off and they had WAAAY too much screen time. I don't know why Lakorns love to have so many characters screaming and acting like out of control banshees for most of the shows. Hurts my ears. Also waaaay too many psycho girls in this one. Also was not a fan of the manager of the psycho model. I saw him in an older lakorn with Nadech and Yaya where he/she plays pretty much the exact same character and truly for the N&Y drama that character ruined what would have been an amazing 10 point lakorn.. In this lakorn this actor/character is again terrible. Just a really terrible over-actor or the director is terrible or both.
As for the ending, Thai dramas always have some sort of Karma pay-back for villains though often it does not feel enough and forgiveness is emphasized instead leaving viewers frustrated, In this series though the Karma Pay-back was really intense and unexpected from the light way most of the series went. It was satisfying in a way but also kind of disturbing.
Anyway, this is a watchable lakorn but not amazing. The only place it seems to be currently available is Neko Meow Meow and I am very grateful for that site for subbing it. Unfortunately the player on that sight does not have FF and high speed options. So hopefully they update the player to one with FF and high-speed options as this specific lakorn has a ton of filler and annoying characters so would really benefit from the FF button.
The first two episodes the directing and editing is weird, makes the actors and situations feel non-genuine. But then it gets better, a lot better. Its definitely a fun, beautiful, spicy drama to watch. Yes as all thai dramas go there are some annoying plot holes here and there but nothing too big to really ruin the show. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Mookdah is becoming one of my favorite Thai actors. She is beautiful and has a silly sassiness to her that is a pleasure to watch. Just sometimes in serious scenes it looks like she is smirking or laughing... maybe she has resting happy face. haha. Michael and his abs did really well in this too. ;)
Lol me too! I was thinking about it up until the last episode. I was wondering did I skip around too much that…
Yes the doctor says he does nothave a tumor but has "epilepsy" (probably mistranslation?) or fainting spells (maybe narcolepsy?)... and... these fainting spells could make him do something crazy...... and..... then this is used as a plot device to make him act drunk and force kiss the girl again..... because..... lakorn. sigh hahaha. He does pass out maybe one more time after that too I think..... so basically he just has a condition where he randomly faints sometimes, specifically at times where the FL is around to catch him.. haha
I liked the first 2/3rds of the drama. Mookda's acting was great as a sassy gal.. I really liked her character the whole drama. ML I could understand and though of course he did questionable things nothing that was not redeemable like other typical thai Slap/Kiss Lakorns. unfortunately the last third the drama got caught up in a psycho side story that got waaaay too psycho... and then they dragged the last episode with unnecesary stupidness until the last few minutes, that also were kind of stupid.... until an after credits scene that was cute for the main couple but not enough after all of that ..... It was like a lot of the themes were R rated, also there were R rated "fantasies or dreams" but the cannon romance part was PG.... So if you are watching it for the romance prepare to not have much in the end. I wont watch it again probably because of the last 3rd of the drama. But I highly recommend the first 2 thirds.
Watching now... its so so ... but I am soooo distracted by her hair! It changes from Brown to black to brown to black over and over every episode. She must have dyed her hair halfway through filming or something and then they never bothered to do any color correction ....unless later in the plot it is revealed she has magical color changing hair????
UPDATE/EDIT: Finished it but almost didn't. Was a good watch for the first 2/3 but the last 3rd I just stopped caring about any of the characters anymore and didn't care who ended up with whom. All the characters just got annoying. The ending also was pretty meh for me after all that... anyway... watch for the eye candy of the Main Leads but not much more than that.
I am never disappointed with Ryan Ding and his agent seems to have a great eye for picking excellent scripts.
