Promising start, total chaotic letdown.
The first two episodes gave us an entirely different character and story than what would unravel in the last ten. We could have had a badass female lead who has skills, resources, and support. Instead it’s a story about a really evil greedy villain having to deal with a messy bunch of opponents who keep foiling her plans, but not because they’re clever, just because that’s how the story drags on. I really wanted it to turn around which is why I tuned in every single week. And every single week I just got more frustrated with the characters and the writers.Was this review helpful to you?
fresh, heartwarming, emotional, and funny
the leads are exceptional in their roles, the nods to cinematic styles and directors adds an artful beautiful element, and the story has depth and sincerity that is hard to find in your typical kdrama. really grateful for this gem and can’t wait to rewatch and savor its sweetness (and sadness). I laughed and cried with them all. If you’re looking for a series about friendship, love, family, and film, this one has combined all of those parts equally into a solid ten episodes. Also major props to the visual director and stylist—the colors, textures, and details were a main character of their own to me.Was this review helpful to you?
one of the most annoying mothers
I had to fast forward through every scene with the ML’s mother because her character and the way the actress behaved was so unbearably grating and obnoxious. the ML himself was also painfully boring while the FL was immature and selfish. the only redeeming character was the SML who deserved only good things but was dumb enough to be into the FL. I can’t believe I got so far. I was bored and annoyed by episode 5. Put it on for background noise and still thought it was one of the worst shows.Was this review helpful to you?
it was 10/10 until eps 23&24
I thought all of the characters were written so well, the actors were great, everything was delightful. Then the writers decided to ruin the good vibes. I wish I could erase the nonsense and damage done to the integrity of the female lead character in those later episodes—she went from being mature, direct, and thoughtful to frustratingly irrational. Could have been the ultimate, so disappointed. Hoping the last 5 salvage the nosedive writing somehow. Still 1-22, peak writing and story. Low music rating because half the songs feel like AI slop lyrics. I will likely try rewatching this show again as a comfort and skip these episodes because it had made me so happy otherwise! The leads are beautiful, costumes in the VR part are amazing, and the humor is top notch.Was this review helpful to you?
