I KNEW IT! i always knew they have the movie in plan even before the drama release. bcos the movie announcement was too quick, from logical business POV, it should have taken longer for them to decide and announce followup project after a drama success if they didnt plan anything.
Movie sequel plan since beginning after a drama series, is common in Japanese Ent, thats why I always think this way. But i also doubt it bcos its C-Ent.
But I guess bcos Kujing produce movies too, thats why they can easily plan this. I now wonder if Shaw is more interested in this project becos he know from the start there will be a movie. He seems to be more of a movie actor.

Variety show and 2nd season sounds like iQiyi greedy desire, an indie drama doing great in their platform but they have to give the biggest bulk of money to Kujing, they want their share of big money too out of it hence they plan the show and 2nd season lol, Zhang Wansen character is really selling big, so they need to make it a big IP(instead of making other drama), from business POV, i understand where they going
I have never seen any great sequel from C-Ent, so i have zero hope for the movie too lol, im just excited abt the possible cast interactions in the major publicity we gonna get hahah

I am torn... if iQiyi really place great importance there is a big chance the sequels will be a co-production with iQiyi which means most part of the money comes from iQiyi which means two things.

GOOD NEWS: SFOT will have money for big publicity like TROTAR or YAMG

BAD NEWS: SFOT creative team might not have as much freedom in creating their own story and production, and im worried the quality will go down, because then they will focus too much on the commercial value

i think everyone in china just slept on General's Lady hahaha nearly has no audience. Douban score 4.8 with only 4,933 people rated (compared to SFOT rated by 94k ppl haha). so yeah he is just really a nobody in china, no one knows him. C-Ent is a huge industry bcos of the huge population

MG2018 was a huge flop in china, this is painful reality that many international MG2018 fans does not like to talk about, bcos it can be considered a success in Thailand and Philippines. Current Douban score is 3.3 rated by 40k ppl only after 3.5 yrs since it release. SFOT is rated by 93k people atm (i estimate it will reach 200k ratings in 2 yrs). So, although Caesar is generally being cursed by the audience for being a cheating bastard in SFOT, lol, his face is now more widely known in china, he is finally starring a drama that is actually a hit in China.

ah, thats a very good point, everything in SFOT just seems very accessible and affordable esp for youngsters, thats why its viral in all directions. among recent dramas, A Lifelong Journey and Reset seems getting audience in a much wider range of demography, but SFOT has very super loyal, obsessed fanbase on social media hahah

oh wow, I didnt know SOOD was over-budget. so even with that explosive popularity, it didn't make much return or less than expectation? but they filmed a movie already, so I always thought they had enough profit to make the movie.

ah yes, Untamed was all over my TL back then haha, WOH too, but they are very different genre, I wouldn't include those two into romance category (although their fans would argue me haha). Romance dramas has very limited audience or the number of it is just too much, that I assume it is not as easy to get viral. I also narrowed it down into titles of modern setting dramas, bcos with ancient setting dramas, im thinking it cannot have the same phenomenon as SFOT, bcos its harder to replicate scenes for douyin vids(bcos of the costume), there is probably no visiting filming location (bcos everything filmed inside a filming studio like Hengdian), there is no vids that introduces fashion brands the characters wear (cos they are ancient costumes lol), no items like rabbit bands can suddenly become popular (bcos its ancient setting).
From romance titles I mentioned, I did witness SOOD getting viral, many celebrities did the themesong eyes-closing gesture videos like Xing Fei. But I didnt see any vids of visiting location in taiwan, or fashion brand video, or popular catchy items, etc. So what I was wondering is, if I just didnt search Douyin enough back then, or SFOT viral phenomenon like this is the first time for its genre.

Yeah, Shaw was an A-list, he almost had Dilireba as FL, but he ruined his own reputation, lol. The D-list I mentioned is Caesar Wu, the 2nd ML in this drama, all his released dramas before SFOT flopped.

This is the first time I'm witnessing a Cdrama going viral on every Chinese social media, cos my favs are all D-listers, most of their dramas are flops hahah
Does anyone has ever witnessed other classic romance Cdramas going viral on social media? Did it have the same phenomenon like SFOT? I mean phenomenon like, there are replication vids of the "ZWS its snowing", fashion brand SFOT cast wear, reports of filming locations, fans reaction while/after watching on douyin, rabbit band and frog raincoat trending on xiaohongshu, Did it also happen to some of big hit romance cdramas like Go Go Squid, You are My Glory, A Love So Beautiful, Put Your Head on My Shoulder, Skate into Love, Someday or One Day?

yeah, actually im not as optimistic as others that the movie will be out next year, my own swordsman and iPartment movie sequels were release 4-5 years since drama lol it is C-Ent afterall, often super slow with releases

when i saw wanxing mature look pic leak, i always have this theory that they had another ending or an epilogue filmed already. Ep24 also shortest duration than the rest seems to be a hint. They probably planned to release a short special episode online only (which they alrd filmed with mature ZWS). But then the box office result is probably 10x than they expected, and producer thinking its enough to make a movie to earn bigger money, so they canceled plan releasing the special and go on with a movie. Its possible they already have 1/3 of the script. And they might use some footage from the filmed epilogue too, or they just have to reshoot/add some scenes for the movie. That's why the movie announcement was super quick only 2 weeks after premiere. But this is just my theory.

They release eps for free every wed and thu, this week they released up to ep 16 for free, ppl who dont have vip membership can watch them (but due to popularity, they alrd set ep1-12 back to vip only), this releasing eps for free will continue til March 4

Interesting, so account-sharing drama 分账 has a system like movie box office. iQiyi is like the cinema/theater and the VIP clicks are the tickets sold. 分账 drama with highest box office record so far is Youku's Chef Hua which earned 100 million yuan. And 分账 dramas generally has 20-30 million cost scale. iQiyi's highest box office 分账 drama is "Ive Fallen for You" (Esther Yu) which earned 77 million box office. Shining For One Thing's box office result will not be revealed until the drama finish broadcast for non VIP in Early March, but the producers are confident that it will break record. FYI, SFOT cost spent 65 million, which can be said an S level for 分账 dramas.
