In response to everyone who made comments that Mo Yan is annoying and makes no sense. First of all, in the book, she is 15-16 years old. In the drama, I think I heard Caesar said she is 18. So, although she is smart, she is lacking life experience. That is why she can't immediately grasp situations because she is just a pure teenager who still don't know much about the world. Everyone here seems to associate smart = calm woman? That is the Mary Sue characters that only exist in fictional world. What makes me love Mo Yan, is exactly the fact that she is not a Mary Sue and has her flaws, she is not perfect. This gives her a chance to make improvement and develop as a character later. With Zhan Zhao by her side who constantly reminds her to behave, shows that she will learn a lot about life from Zhan Zhao, which is kind of a point of the romance here. As for why would Zhan Zhao falls for an annoying girl like her, the novel author asked Caesar Wu, "Why do you think Zhan Zhao falls in love with Mo Yan?" and Caesar answered, "Because Mo Yan has something he doesn't have which he yearns for," Zhan Zhao is a very upright man and always act according to the law and rules, he actually yearns for Mo Yan's carefreeness who is able to think of ideas out of the box. As for everyone who wishes Zhang Huiwen to always play calm and mature roles. Huiwen mentioned in her livestream a few days ago, that she is tired of playing cold roles, so when she got HOL script she is very interested and she likes Mo Yan character a lot. So playing Mo Yan is really her choice and not because she has no choice. As an actress, she need to play different kind of roles and she seems to enjoy the challenge. Only by playing different kind of roles, she can be evaluated as a versatile actress.

I watched 10 eps and I'm enjoying it. My initial impression is that the story and characters seems to be very much inspired by Legend of Condor Heroes (Jin Yong novel). Zhan Zhao-Mo Yan pairing reminds me alot of Guo Jing-Huang Rong. Bai Yingyu reminds me of Mu Nianci. Xiao Chen, 2nd brother, reminds me of Huang Yaoshi, Huang Rong's dad. The part where he comes and Mo Yan is so scared of him, and he kept telling her to go back home with him. And him not liking Zhan Zhao getting close to Mo Yan. Reminds me alot of LOCH. The concept of 7 siblings also reminds me of Guo Jing's 7 teachers. With all these influences, if you like JY's wuxia stories, then you might enjoy "heart of loyalty." But ofc, unlike LOCH, HOL is more in the romance side. But definitely less romance than other cheap costume romcoms out there. And ofc the novel author does not write as great as the legendary Jin Yong. But for me, the plot still worth to watch. The mystery/case-solving stories are plot devices to move the romance plot forward. For me personally, the setting of the Kaifeng city office, a dorm for imperial guards and detectives, is a new fresh setting for costume romance. I'm just glad its not about another girl disguising as a boy to enter the imperial college or another romance after arranged marriage type.
