As an Asian kid, I can relate with helicopter parents like that so I can’t blame Zhu Yun. There were times she could have stood up more to her parents but she didn’t because it’s something she’s not used to as daughter who grew up following her parents’ every decision for her. Also, she definitely sucks at lying! Not saying that lying is good, but your girl can’t lie to her parents to save her life. Lol But truth be told, her mother is really scary for analyzing every single word her daughter is saying to know if she’s lying or not. Definitely toxic parenting. Lol And yes, it doesn’t make sense to send your suicidal daughter abroad where she’s alone and depressed. She can do more harm to herself. They’re lucky that wasn’t the case with Zhu Yun.

That’s true. He used to be a sweet boy as we can see in a flashback with his sister, giving her a gift in the past and paying for the concert tickets to see her favourite artist. But he closed himself up because of what happened to his mother and in middle school. After meeting Zhu Yun, he became himself again around her. But again, misfortune happened. Like give this guy a break already.
Since there are still many days ahead before we go back to the present day events, I’ve rewatched the first episode and half of the second episode to understand the story better.
With the flashbacks of their college days until episode 22, we get to understand better why the events in the first 2 episodes happened and their reasons why they did such things that led to the present day.
Li Xun did not have a comfortable life like Zhu Yun and lost all the members of his family even before he finishes college. There are many ways on how he can avenge the death of his sister and hurt Fang Zhijing without doing it in public but he chose that way to probably punish himself for failing the personal promise he made to his father. He wasn’t able to protect his mother and sister so he gave up everything including Zhu Yun. If he didn’t forcefully pushed her away with the help of Xu Li Na, she’ll never leave his side even in prison and he didn’t want that future for her. Not saying what he did was right, especially the part of how he acted infront of Zhu Yun’s parents, but he was a man who was pushed so hard against the wall. I’m with him in punching Fang Zhijing in the face but he should have also broken his hand so he can’t code forever. Lol He planned all of it but just failed to see Gao Jianhong doing him dirty at the end. I did not read the novel but this is what I understand after watching.
I’m sure in those 3 years in prison, Li Xun will not come out without any plan in his head. He set his plans in motion a day after he was released by visiting Gao Jianhong and Ren Di. So now, we all just have to wait and see. I usually hate Mondays but now I can’t wait for it to come. 🫠
So I finally caught up with this drama. Started out a few days ago and now excruciatingly waiting for next week to continue where the first episode had left off. Such an engaging story. 🤧
MDL is still doing a coundown but no confirmed air date again 🙄 If Tencent finally decides on an air date for the last time, better do it like Netflix and release all the episodes at once!
There's a rumour going on that our WuLu CP has been offered a new drama called Ocean of Time/Cherry and Amber which is also a novel like LLTG. Of course nothing's confirmed yet but I do hope they'll make another drama together! 🥰
