Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the drama so that more people will know about it! Agree with most of the…
Now that you've mentioned it, I do recall that scene where Tengshe says only Dijun could pat his head. However, it's still pretty unconvincing because viewers (who didn't read the novel) don't know the reason as to why Tengshe loves and respects Dijun so much. The screenwriters could have at least made one of the characters mention that Dijun raised Tengshe if they didn't have enough time/episodes to show the scene.
Anyways, thanks a lot for replying. I loved L&R so much, nonetheless. It's still a great show worth rewatching and recommending to others.
Thanks to the nice comments fans of this drama made, I finally completed this 59-episode journey! Initially I almost dropped it, but now I'm so glad I didn't. Here are my trivial thoughts:
[Contains minor spoilers]
The good: - Everybody's compelling acting - No fillers - Engaging story plot - Decent CGI- Go to episode 21; thank me later - Great chemistry between the leads - Enthralling supporting characters- They carried them BRAINS of the entire show - Eye candies like Hao Chen and Wu Zhiqi - LORD TENG SHE- I don't think I will ever shut up about him. He is now my spirit animal, my favorite xianxia character of all time.
The bad: - Awkward acting by the female lead in some areas - The lack of communication between Yu Sifeng and Chu Xuanji - Chu Xuanji being "dumb" in the first half of the series - Yu Sifeng spitting blood every other episode- Give our mans a break, good lord. - Awkward OST placements here and there - The fact that the screenwriters didn't foreshadow Bailin Dijun and Teng She's father-son relationship for Bailin's death. Like come on, don't tell me I'm the only one who was puzzled when Teng She was sobbing over Bailin's death. It was only after I read the novel did I realize their actual relationship.
That being said, I'm thankful you all were so kind and patient in persuading me to keep watching this series a couple of weeks ago. Otherwise, I would have missed a gem. Love and Redemption was a heart-breaking yet wholesome series. I'd recommend it to my friends.
Honestly speaking, you wont find this drama as bad when you think of it as a completely different drama. Give it a chance. But yeah, gotta admit the original was much better given that it was also a web drama and the leads were also newbies.
This drama literally made me NEED to write an article because I hadn't seen many people talking about it xD I'm…
Yes. I feel like the main reason why it's so underrated is because it's not available on platforms like WeTV or iQIYI. Seems weird to me, as I heard it's available on the Chinese versions of these apps. Maybe we should try requesting?
Thank you so so much for this wonderful article. This is such an underrated series, and I'm glad you're writing about this. Everything about this drama is just so wholesome that I've watched it for at least four times already. I get chills every time I hear the OSTs. Uhhhh Words can't express how much I love this series. This drama is highkey the BEST Chinese drama ever, hands down.
