Some dreams should just stay dreams

I've seen this a few years ago, and maybe I can somewhat understand the direction this drama was trying to take, but it doesn't convince me in the very slightest, and shouldn't even be called a romance, maybe a sad, ill-intentioned drama with themes of romance. I dont know what it is with writers and romanticizing bullying and abuse, but to put it plainly, its sick and not normal. ML is consistently a constant trainwreck, treating the FL like sh*t, then realizing he has feelings, apologizes, takes her out, then treats her like shit again. in all honestly, if a fortune teller told me that this drama was my future, i'd tell her right back that i'm just gonna have to die single then.

Time was Stolen From Me

You remember back in the day when someone said about someone else 'she's special', and that was meant as a compliment? well, this review definitely won't be referring to that kind of special.
Throughout watching this drama, I kept wondering, 'how am I so committed to watching so many one-dimensional characters?' I like to give people and shows the benefit of the doubt, so no matter what BS this drama was trying to feed me(i.e, Xiao Nai practically saying that its ok for his colleague to have prejudice against women, he'll grow out of it), I kept watching it because i figured that people can't really be that dumb, and and i didn't want to judge this drama too soon. But lo and behold, this drama was indeed a very special waste of time.
from its start to its bizarre, unrealistic progression, this drama makes no sense to me, and leaves me with more questions then answers.
Why is it that everyone in this drama has a job and is at college age, but they all act like 15-year-olds?
why are there so many un-needed tropes in this show, and why are all these actors actually bad at portraying stereotypes?
Why are there there so many girls in this show that have nothing better to do then be jealous of a one-dimensional character?
Why are so many viewers so enamored by this kind heteronormativity?
If the FL was hired to the ML company because of her skills and merits, why doesn't this drama actually show that?
Why does the FL have such a shitty, useless , childish, best friend, did her brain stop developing at 12?
How is it that with so much toxic energy in this drama, there isn't one even remotely healthy friendship that could make this drama redeemable by at least 1%?
why does this drama need to send messages to viewers like 'submissive women are easy to control, and therefore more desirable'?
How is it that the FL and ML grew so close within such a short span of time after meeting each other, how was that supposed to look natural?
Is it even remotely viable for virtual drama to transfer over to real life, or is that just something that happens on a regular basis for everyday gamers?
Why is it that only the men have roles that make it look like they're working, while the women in this show just have roles where they gossip about each other?
What was the point of this drama even being made?
Can I set this drama on fire?
someone, get me a lighter and some gasoline.........

Magic, Fluff, and some other stuff

Usually I only watch hidden gems, and leave the popular dramas to people that have FOMO or something. However, after about 2years or so, I figured I’d give this drama a chance. after watching this entire drama, I’ve realized that this drama is heavily overrated, the fandom of this drama is overly biased, and majority the reviews on these platforms have next to no substance. Most reviews (I’ve read a couple high rated reviews) just praise the MLs, praise the visuals, mention the faulty age gap, criticize the FL for being childish, praise the secondary leads relationship(or lack thereof), then give the drama 10/10 (undeservedly so).

I won’t be doing any of the said above.

First of all, I won’t give a reiteration of the story. If you wanna know what it’s about, read the drama synopsis.

2ndly, for the life of me, I don’t understand this obsession fans have with couples with varying ages, but I’d like to think that fans mention it to put themselves on some moral pedestal.

3rdly, I really believe this drama could’ve been great. Hell, it could’ve been amazing. If there’s one thing that encompasses all the problems this drama has, it would be that it focuses on the past too much. It also made the ML cold, dubious, and doubtful that he would ever find his bride. There should’ve been more focus on the present, letting the leads establish a better relationship on screen, instead of the ML constantly giving the FL whiplash and making her doubt herself more than she already does. The FL does such an amazing job, and is so mature whenever she’s faced with a difficult situation. When the Goblin presents himself in her life, she accepts her new destiny with stride and determination, and that is what makes her the best, most redeemable character in this show.

Circling back to all the flashbacks, it becomes quite evident that the only person that can account for what transpired 900yrs ago (why 900 though? why not 50, or 70? wtf even is this?) is the goblin himself, yet he’s supposedly carried this vengeance in his heart all this time. I can’t even remotely fathom why the writers of this drama thought this was such a great idea, but I’ll give my 2 cents.
— It’s impossible to hold onto a grudge for that long. Furthermore, these are PAST lives, so as far as I’m concerned, anyone that was reincarnated, the people of their past are their ancestors. Not only do the characters of the present not remember anything, they are NOT the same people. They have their own personalities, their own minds, their own souls. so the concept of them being the same people falls flat for me.

ngl, I hated episode 13 & 15 for making me cry, but ep13-16 were the only episodes worth watching. around these episodes is when you actually see chemistry between the FL & ML, and the Goblin is actually concerned about Eun Ji Tak. The final episodes wrecked me, not because it’s such a great drama, but because the acting really is exceptional, and the FL is excellent at portraying emotions, especially when she’s devastated.(also the viewers of ep 14 are the most insensitive fucks I’ve ever seen. I read the timed comments, you know who you are, worthless degenerates). just for clarification, I hate crying.

The best thing about this drama is Eun Ji Tak, the Grim Reaper, and the music. that’s it. also, why would anyone make a drama whereby everything revolves around the FL, only to kill her in the last episode? seems counterintuitive, but wtf do I know?

This may be the first drama I’ve ever watched where I’m just waiting for it to be over. it wasn’t terrible, just makes no sense how all these supernatural beings have all these powers, but they’d rather only intervene in terrifying situations when they want to.

what really leaves me baffled is how the acting is so amazing, but the story itself is such trash. I only finished this drama because I was already too invested. unfortunately, I don’t recommend this drama. If anything, go watch Seo Bok instead; it’s underrated, and most likely makes a load more sense than Goblin. Also, Gong Yoo’s birthday is in 2 weeks(July 9), so go celebrate watching something worthwhile( that’s not Goblin). 💙

This show is ridiculously absurd

At first I only watched this because men’s health and all that, but as the show progressed, I realized that this entire show is bullshit. The title of this show is definitely appropriate, cause people in this show are definitely screwed up in the head. one male lead, Hongyo, completely forgot how he took advantage of Terada when they were young, and now he’s f*cking doing it again. how nice it must be for him to have selective memory loss. 😌The second male lead told Terada to her face that he doesn’t see her as anything special, that’s she’s basic as hell, and he only wants to marry her to use her as a means to an end. the men in this show are shallow, sexist and manipulative as f*ck, avoid this show at all costs.

Gives You All the Feels

So….i’ve been really impressed. This definitely was not what I expected. the whole time I watched this, I couldn’t stop smiling. there was definitely a lot of chemistry between the main leads, but what I loved the most about this drama was that being gay was not looked down upon, or anything, it was just portrayed as regular as a straight relationship, and that in and of itself made it so comforting to watch. I also loved watching Lee Jung with his Hyeong and seeing their interactions with each other was very endearing and heartwarming. it’s very rare that I see men in a series that are so comfortable in their own skin and so self-assured in their own masculinity, and that’s what really stood out to me, and it was so mesmerizing to watch. this drama is also very mature, not just in the way you think, but also in more nuanced ways like how two people can not say anything, but you can sense that you know what their feeling. I loved every minute of this. what a work of art.

A Soft Take on a Few Soft Boys

I don’t usually watch Period dramas, but I always enjoy BL dramas, and someone here on MDL recommended this to me, so I thought, why not?

I can positively say I’ve never seen anything like this before. This drama really drew me in from the very beginning. Like a cowboy that wrangles a rope around a horse, it held on tight and never let go.

The first thing I must commend this drama for was blending French and Thai languages and cultures. I don’t see this very often in dramas, and the act of bringing cultures together makes this drama more universal and it was executed in a beautiful and compelling way, with Rati coming from France and meeting Phi Thee in Thailand(in that era, it was known as Siam). Even though there was some resistance from both countries, they still did their best to work through their differences. Rati was eager to be in Siam to fulfill his duties, and Phi Thee eager to embrace someone from another country.

My second point I’d address would be the portrayal of respect in regard to social class and professional standing. I understand that your supposed to respect those that rank higher than you, but there were certain characters that would abuse that in this series, which I found to be rather ridiculous. If everyone is an adult, then surely someone can take a stand and speak against unjust criticism and outright discrimination, but that rarely happened until something extreme occurred like public physical assault. If everyone in this drama just stopped being so damn reluctant to speak up, a lot of the violence could’ve been prevented. I can’t really speak on if that’s what it was really like in that era in that country, but that bothered me.

The third thing I would touch on was the romance aspect of Rati and Phi Thee. Throughout the series, there was a lot of hidden promise for them. It was evident that Rati had never been in a relationship before, so it was all the more exciting to see Phi Thee pursue him in such a gentle and reassuring, and flirtatious way. I’ve never seen a man pinning for someone so innocently before, so those were my favorite scenes of the series. I can somewhat understand the direction the writers were trying to take with this relationship; letting their bond grow over time and creating a delicate sort of sophisticated romantic dynamic, but it was almost like this romance was one-sided sometimes.

This drama was thrilling, ambitious, and aspirational. I was really impressed that this drama really went the extra mile with its use of the French language and multiple cast members speaking French and Thai throughout, and made me appreciate it that much more.

If my hypothetical future relationship doesn’t look like this, I don’t want it. Overall, everyone in this series did such an incredible job bringing this series to life, watching it was a pleasure and an honor.
I would definitely rewatch this with a friend.

Memoir of Rati, I 💜 you

Such a sweet drama!!!❤️

I loved watching this drama so so much!! I especially love watching dramas where it’s not a big deal to be queer or gay, and the characters can just live their own lives free of embarrassment and or fear of criticism. I also loved how patient and honest Yoon Soo was with Do Hoon, and that takes a lot of maturity. Also, it’s also beautiful to remember that for chefs, cooking is an art form, so you should never be careless with your feedback when you try their food, and I thought that was a great lesson that was added to this series. 💜I wish there was a Season 2, because I became so invested in their story💜

So Glad I Finally Watched This!!

i usually don’t watch anything that’s really popular, but I took a chance with this drama. as someone who strongly believes that bullies deserve Hell, this was right up my alley. I was so invested from the first episode, it’s such a great show!! personally, I don’t think the three main leads should’ve ever been friends because of all the dissonance in their friendship, but somehow they did their best to make it work. my heart goes out to Si-eun, because of all the chaos that happens in his life. beautiful drama…

rewatching:
bullies are disgusting, pathetic degenerates that deserve a fate worse then death.

Not for nothing, but in the beginning, Ahn
Su-Ho got on my fucking nerve.

A romance a Long Time Coming

This drama was so subtly sweet and just so satisfying in a way I didn't expect. I loved how well the actors conveyed emotions, whether its excitement, sadness, longing, resentment, or happiness, and that's something that really impressed me. I thought it was a truly beautiful story. I usually don't like dramas that have characters that are immortal and remember events from 300 years ago, but I gave this a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised! There wasn't an overbearing focus on the past, and more towards focusing on the present. What I took away from this drama is that Love is Patient and willing to wait for you. The last episode made my eyes water in happiness, so I definitely recommend this drama to everyone.

(Sidenote: pls don't believe the reviews that say that this drama isn't worth it, because it wholeheartedly is! It pulled at my heartstrings, and is just so undeniably beautiful. This drama is art. Yes, its short, and its charming that way)

Like a Holographic Flower, a Mesmerizing Find

I’ve never been so impressed with a short series the way I was impressed with Animals, in more ways than one. This is a drama where they speak Japanese, but the messages within the series transcends languages and cultures all over the world. when I first started watching this, I myself was going through a very rough patch at my job, and this drama was an intimate friend pushing me, and encouraging me that it’s ok to leave a place that’s not serving me.

I deeply empathized and saw myself in the main character Umi, and it was so comforting, not only to see my struggles so accurately portrayed, but to also see how someone can take difficulties with such stride, and still come out on top. it’s also so rare to start a new job, and have colleagues around you that encourage you to get better at your job with positive attitudes and mindsets, and that was also very heartwarming to see. this drama made me feel like I was right alongside Umi in each episode, and had a good deal of understanding for why she made certain decisions, why she’d be frustrated in some cases, and flustered in others.

something else that impressed me from the get go was the American influence in this show, and how it balances so well in this show, and ties in with the goals that the Animals Brand has. it really gives this show that extra refined edge that I’ve never seen before, and is very refreshing to watch.

I was deeply captivated watching the FL in each episode mature from being extremely overworked and under-appreciated, to working at her own pace, taking challenges as they come, and being praised for her accomplishments. it was also fun watching her learn about makeup so throughly and with such fascination, and watching her have fun with it.

much respect and appreciation for the ending scene. The ost as well as the scene in the end gave the ending a sitcom kind of vibe, and I loved that.

Overall, a very impressive and impactful drama about being in the makeup industry, how it isn’t all glitter and glam, how demanding it actually is, and what it takes to thrive within it all. honored that I found this gem of a drama. 💜

A sweet love story about 2 sweet boys

I really wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did. It was a bit confusing in the beginning, but I guess love is like that too. I don't think the two main leads were ever enemies, they were more so constants in each others lives, just observing each other from a distance, until it was the right time for their lives to intertwine together. I thought that their romance was very subtle and heartwarming. I liked how everyone was pretty open-minded in this drama, and were just concerned with the happiness of their friends, Zhou Shu Yi & Gao Shi De. what I appreciated the most was how these boys could just be themselves, and discover what they're feeling without anyone pressuring them or belittling their feelings. 8/10 I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

Don't waste your time on this

I really wanted to believe that this drama was actually worth watching, but it was just another rushed bl drama, each episode 15min short, and having nothing of value to say. Truly, the only thing i liked about this drama was the music, otherwise, its a complete trainwreck. if i had paid to see this, i'd want my money back. complete waste of time. there's no story development, no character development, and this drama keeps introducing characters with no backstory. This drama left me with more questions then answers. this drama is trash, pls don't waste ur time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go to my backyard and set this trash on fire...

ambitious clickbait title leads to astounding discovery

this drama was truly a diamond amongst hundreds of other films, and definitely not what I expected. to be honest, this drama far exceeded my expectations, and without a doubt i would definitely be rewatching this with my friends. Somehow, even though the story is somewhat unlikely to unravel the way it did in a real-life situation, it is undeniable that this is one of the most compelling movies I've ever seen, and I really appreciate the direction this movie took. Lim Soo-Jung is a very talented actress, and definitely followed the assignment. In this movie, she maintains her composure, even in the most trying of times, and not only is she the FL, she also carries this whole movie. This movie has suspense, thrills, drama, romance, action, and crime, all wrapped up with a perfect pretty bow. The Fl and ML executed their roles with undeniable commitment, and I wish more people could be exposed to this gem of a film.

A short, sweet review on a short, sweet drama-very impressed

Just finished it! So refreshing and delightful to see 2 men grow close in an organic & honest way. Even though the budget for BL dramas remains offensively low - nearly nonexistent (hence the reason why it has only 7 episodes), I’m satisfied with how it began, progressed and ended. Moon Ji Yong portrays Seung Hyun exceptionally as a promising young star with great ideas and a good heart, truly an inspiration on and off screen. Even though I wish there could’ve been more back story on Kim Jong Chan(Keon Hyuk), I greatly appreciate that even though he did not have the best romantic experiences in the past, he was willing to put his pride aside for the sake of Seung Hyun, and that’s not only heartwarming, it’s maturity and respect, and these traits are what truly determine how much someone says they love and care for someone. 10/10 chefs kiss

A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes When Your Fast Asleep

wow, just wow, I am just so blown away by the grandeur of it all….

🌟I’ve never watched a drama that stole my heart like this. I’m so immensely impressed with everything about this drama. The acting, the plot, the scenery, the characters, the production, everything was extraordinary!! I truly never wanted this drama to end, this drama redefined what it means to answer your true calling🌟

✨First of all, I love anything that has to do with royalty and kingdoms, so as soon as I saw the crowns and the capes, I was sold on it, at the very least I knew I had to give it a chance, and this series did not disappoint.✨

👑This series focuses on Khanin and his father living in the UK. Growing up, Khanin’s father always told him stories of the Kingdom of Emmaly, and raised him as his own son. One day, Khanin’s home is invaded by strangers that meant to kill Khanin. Luckily, the Royal Guard of Assavadevathin, Charan, is already on site and guides Khanin to safety, taking him back to the Kingdom and revealing to him the truth: – that Khanin is the long lost son of the Kingdom of Assavadevathin, and that that is his new home now.👑

❤️Watching the relationship grow and flourish between Khanin and Charan really opened my eyes to what true destiny looks like. Even though they didn’t like each other in the beginning, their disdain subsided, and as they grew older closer, I could see their deference for each other grow stronger, their bond deeper, and their hearts slowly open up to each other. Watching their story unfold was like looking at a blueprint; how profound and unprecedented their love was.❤️

🎶What other drama has original music from one of the main actors? I was so moved by how cohesive the music blended with each scene. It was as if the music entranced me, it was so beautiful and enriching to the series.🎶

🎨This drama was such a subtle sweet lull into a beautiful dream. There was elegance, beauty, devotion, respect, loyalty, passion, perseverance, and strength, all wrapped up in the most precious package you’ve ever laid your eyes on. Whoever doesn’t see that, can’t appreciate true art. 🎨

🤺I had never given much interest into fencing, but in this drama, there’s definitely a lot of that, and it’s riveting to watch. There’s a lot of healthy competition in this drama, and it made me wish I could watch a match in real time. And there’s archery!!🏹

💜I know for certain that I will rewatch this, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it was too soon. This drama was such an inspiring work of art, this was a masterpiece.💜

My favorite quote from the series:
when we care for someone with all our heart, we love and cherish them like our very life.
– Charan Phithakthewa

แด่ทุกความรักและความเท่าเทียมใต้ฟ้าเดียวกัน

☁️(To every love and every equal heart under one sky)☁️

A side note:
I really hope Prince Ramil learns to live for himself one day, he deserved better💜
