the storyline is barely understandable...... great opening / ending songs and that's it ? so disappointed cause acting and cinematic is interesting but i never failed this hard to get what was going on
I haven't watched it but I just want to know that, was they really filtered / cut out the scenes of Yoo Ah In…
They cut his backstory and probably he was supposed to have more engagement in this which really saddens me. But regarding the whole storyline , he still appears a lot bc he exists through other characters. If you wanna watch for Ahin, you'll be satisfied and impressed by the scene he still has imo.
was planning on watching it but when I saw the rating, I felt discouraged, now I'm thinking if I should go ahead…
Ep 1 and 2 have a lot of cuts and flashbacks which can discourage the viewer but honestly it gets better. If you like full action blockbuster it definitely is not it, it's more like a philosophical show about humain and connection with an apocalyptic background. I personally liked it even if it's not perfect.
I think we are used to plots where people get saved which is why it's hard to understand ppl facing their fate…
I think the missing part of that show is about yunsang's personal story and the whole laboratory/ research plot. It sucks a lot but I don't think it would make a huge difference towards their choices regarding the "escaping" thing you're talking about. The back and forth ans cuts are also mostly a direction choice and not just a way to erase Ahin's scenes. I understand what you're saying but when I watch it , I felt that people espacing were the "bad" guys driven with greed (and that they probably will be punished for it) and the "good" will have to face their own destiny and death. The morality of this is quite blurry but even if technically it seems that they could have survived , the story wasn't probably about this imo. I'm curious if how the plot is in the book.
Unpopular opinion, i really liked this slice of life with an end of the world background they gave us. Yes it's not a massive action dystopia where the earth get destroyed but you can't tell me there is nothing to keep in this. Chatacters are really interesting with deep struggles and emotions. It's a philosophical show with a lot of themes portraying humanity and its duality. It questions power, religion, forces, family, relationships, loss, despair, love.
Yes the construction is a bit ambitious (like the impossible heir) but i'm getting tired of people hating on a drama after zero minute watched. I understand people can dislike when the storyline goes back and forth with different timelines and cuts but when the story makes sense and the acting is that good I personally find it ok. It's just different and i feel like ppl are too much used to do something else while watching so they can't handle changing povs.
I loved the girl soldier, the children, the relationships between ahin's and eunjin's character. It blends social constructions , for example children behaving like adults bc they will never become one. There are huge blanks in the story it's true (we miss the whole yunsang's POV because of those cowards and it creates holes in the story). They probably had to fill in with length or side characters that can be boring BUT besides this i find the storyline makes sense and it's interesting and unusual. Love language and touch is this drama is BEYOND INCREDIBLE. I never saw such emotions pictured and it was heartbreaking (acting performance from the couple deserve an award). Once you detach from the apocalyptic movie you were expecting and if you focus on small things , you'll see there is a lot to take from this.
There's a also a hard work both visually and musically. Ost are so good. From the last of us to the leftovers, there's a beautiful story here. YES I am mad and disappointed bc of what it could have been. And I ache thinking of what they did with Yoo Ahin and that we won't see him anytime soon. But i'm also very surprised by the angle they chose here. The flashbacks show us a lot of the chaos that happened in the past and the greed of people which let the characters with big traumas. And we face their fear and surerending in the present. The end is questionable but overall this is an enjoyable story with impactful scenes. I hope some people will make their own mind and stop focusing on reviews and group effect.
I don't usually trust MDL's rating but from what i read the bad reviews have nothing to do with YAH reduced screen time. I'll probably watch it anyway to make my own mind but mostly bc i miss his acting sm. I'm glad that he seems to appear a lot despite what the producers have announced. I'm honestly satisfied with the downfall of this drama cuz they really made coward and disrespectful choices. I'm not sure it's worth watching and all of this sucks for the cast who put effort on this but it is what it is.
I almost cried seeing Yoo Ahin has been erased that way. I don't think I'll be watching it. It's really unfair tbh. I think it had the potential to be one of those memorable dramas. I love the FL and the cast, the trailer is awesome (and i'm usually not a fan of trailers) and it looks like much effort and work have been put in it but I can't buy it. Not matter if they replaced the lead in post prod or cut his scenes or if they did a great job for the storyline to make sense, it's still a big shame. I'm just mad and sad. And I can't believe we are ruining one's career like that. May YAH keep carrying on and find the help and support he deserves. I hope we'll see him as an actor again and most of all healthy. And may k-industry and justice look at their own toxicity before they lost too many people. (And no, saying this is not defending dr*gs use)
