Just got to episode 4 but am cracking up so often! Not sure if anyone got the innuendo when Hou Chi had his first class - he asks FL what she would like to learn, and she says "双休" which basically means the weekend (literally, "double rest"). But the rest of the class heard "双修“, or "double cultivation", which in xianxia often refers to...well...sex. And then he asks her who she would like to do it with and she says everyone :DDDDD This is another one of those low budget dramas which surprises me with how I much enjoy it.
Such an underrated drama! No bad actors here, everyone from the ML to FL to her sidekick are smart and acts appropriately to their character. Plot is tight, pacing is fast, chemistry is on fire. I guess the FL is not a "popular" actress, but she's great here - and for those who are commenting on her visuals, well it's not like she's playing a goddess in a xianxia or a consort in a historical drama or something, to me she definitely has the right aura for the undercover police. Zheng Ye Cheng does not disappoint, as always.
Only 24 episodes, so definitely worth your time giving it a try!
So he goes directly to proposing marriage. LOL! Normally I would be quite confused, but for some reason I think this approach is very suitable for this couple! They’re just such pure, straightforward characters. Who cares that I’m the son of the princess with lots of power and you’re currently a nobody who works on cutting dead bodies? As the ML later puts it eloquently, no one knows when they’re going to die - could be years or the next moment. If they let superficial things stop them from being together, then all that’s left at the end of life is just regrets. Love it!
All 16 episodes are out. It's a pretty lighthearted, low effort watch. I quite liked the ML - I haven't seen the actor before but he did grow on me. The visuals does help. :)
On the other hand, I got increasingly annoyed at the FL throughout the drama. At first the troubles she got into and her cluelessness were funny and endearing, but these got old after 5 episodes or so. I just wanted her to do something that was at all helpful - for a person who came from the modern world, she was absolutely useless. After people started dying in the later episodes, I thought she would finally grow up and show some character development. Nope, she just kept on running away/making trouble/eating as usual (the constant binging got old after a while too).
TLDR; fun but gets frustrating. Not to be taken seriously.
Shu Yi’s most memorable line was “Is the lucky one still me?” - even though Shi De thinks that the love he hid away for 10 years is a burden, Shu Yi assured him that’s not the case. In fact, it’s through this love that he became more open and loving himself.
Shi De’s most memorable line was “I’ve lost my whole life to you” - because he knows that Shu Yi has been struggling all his life to become number one, trying to do everything perfectly. But he’s telling him that he doesn’t need to fight so hard anymore.
I'm on Episode 9, and so far it's been pretty interesting! I wonder if the twin brother (Luo Ou) is in love with the singer (Liang Jin Yu)? There's scene where the singer is singing this very romantic love song on stage and the twin brother (in the body of the twin sister) is gazing up at him. The entire vibe is...well, I guess they're probably going for bromance but it's definitely not bromance-like lol. They also lived together (before Luo Ou's accident) and there are shot of Liang sitting at Luo Ou's bedside while he's in a coma. If that's what this drama is portraying (albeit in an indirect way), props to them.
And toxic fans go crazy because of these fanservices. Sam's gf got attacked on her Instagram & Weibo.
I think toxic fans will tend to do crazy things at the smallest trigger, regardless of fanservice or imagined fanservice.
For me, I’m just going to take the sweetness overload as it’s given and not think too much about it. Sam said himself on a livestream that he’s totally OK with fans shipping whatever CP (couple) they like. So why not :P
Firstly I'd like to point out that regardless of the slower paced story reveal of season 2; the acting is explosive…
Thank you so much for the insight into the music! I looked up the piece and listened to it, and you’re absolutely right. It’s a beautiful melody and dare I say remind me of their love story from beginning to that point.
From the comments below, I think maybe one of the reasons for the difference in reactions from the international and Chinese fans could be some subtleties in the language that gets lost in translation. I went through the couch scene again and not once does Shu Yi say the word "No". There is one time that the English subtitles translate as "Stop it!", but what he really says is 不要再闹了, which is really understood as "Stop messing around". Overall, the feel of Shu Yi's reaction - at least in speech - isn't really one of self-defence. It's more like he's dealing with an irate lover who's acting up after getting drunk and he's trying to figure out why (hence all the questions like "Are you going to tell me or not?"

Amazing performance from the leads so far. I'm particularly impressed by Gong Jun in this role - didn't expect he would suit the semi-villain so well, given his previous dramas. But he does and still manages to look beautiful doing it. :)
Well done to the director, writer, and cast. This is what love should be like - not dragging each other down, but lifting each other up. It's surprising how few dramas manage to show this.
I really like the sisterhood (what's the female equivalent of bromance?) between Ah Fei and Chu Chu. Chu Chu's calm and restraint is a great counterpart to Ah Fei's rashness and impulsivity, and at the same time she's learning from her courage.
It's not bad. The first few episodes were pretty boring, but by the end of episode 12 I'm actually eager to see what happens next. The FL is definitely a strong character (which I adore) so that helps.
However, for some reason I can't quite explain the voice dubbing is really grating on me. I'm not a fan of dubbing in general but the ML and FL's voices in this drama just...don't seem to match. Is it just me?
This started off well and I was intrigued by the premise, but it’s getting less and less promising every episode. For someone who was supposed to be an experienced general, the FL seems to be remarkably stupid and useless...

Love this couple so much :)
NSFW...?

They are so cute. I’ve never seen such great fanservice lol, no wonder the Chinese fans are all going crazy on Weibo.
