Goddamnit this has the most intense chemistry I've ever seen, both leads are giving their ALL!! The way he hauls her around, presses her down, and chases after her is...#$^%$@&#%Y#$^!!!
P.S. 刃 ("Ren") means "Blade" and has the connotation of "to cut". 引 ("Yin") means "Guide" and has the connotation of "to lure". A very sexy image. :)
What makes this series so wonderful to me, watching as a native Mandarin speaker, is the complexity of the dialogue and the subtle underlying tension between the characters which NEVER dissipates throughout. At any stage of their relationship, just the two people talking with their suggestive speech and micro-expressions, was sufficiently fascinating to keep me hooked. (Compare, for example, to other romance-oriented dramas where after the couple gets together all their interactions become some version of routine.)
The translation of my "love", by the way, is a bit of a miss. The best translation of "对象" is probably "partner" because it is quite neutral and representative of the maturity and all encompassing nature of this relationship. Literally, the words mean "the person [I'm] facing towards", and so the last scene of YSL taking FX's hand and turning towards him is very fitting.
Trying to recover and stay alive until next week by watching their BTS and livestreams…these two are SO cute, it’s amazing what they brought to the screen. Sometimes I think I do see a bit of their characters in them though! Yun Qi is apparently 7 years younger but he’s so disrespectful with Hao Yi Ran (in the best way) LOL. There was a fan question asking how they call/address each other (in China it’s common to add an honorific when calling someone older and senior to yourself) and HYR was like, he doesn’t call me anything, when he wants to talk to me he just grabs me and drags me over… 😂😂😂
For everyone wondering how the hell our couple will manage to have a happy ending together, there’s something Hao Yi Ran (the actor playing YSL) said in one of their joint lives that may help. He said that because they shot most of the scenes out of order, he thought a lot about how to make the later scenes reasonable and realized that YSL must feel “生理性喜欢” (meaning a kind of physiological desire) towards FX, otherwise why would he go back to him, why would he forgive? He’s just attracted to FX, lol. We’ll have to excuse what we may see as poor choices…but at least the actors are embodying this electric chemistry very well!
Nah. Perhaps your argument would make more sense if the guy actually loved her back. Stealing an important token…
a) Our ML is smart, he could have come up with a way for SML to expose himself, such as have a conversation with him while his sister listens secretly in the next room (this is a plot we’ve seen many times before). If the princess refuses to see the evidence that’s right before her eyes and ears, that’s her fault but we can’t write her off before she’s been made aware at all. b) As has been mentioned, the princess is loved by the emperor who literally said that he wouldn’t force her into a marriage she didn’t want. If she absolutely refused and worked WITH the ML to avoid the marriage, do you really think they could’ve failed?

True freedom is giving her access to all the information needed to make her own decision. Even if he doesn’t want her to leave her country, it should still be her choice in the end (and just to be clear, I agree that her choices are terrible). ML lost a bit of my sympathy in this relationship when he found out that SML is likely the founder of the death camps and responsible for the death and torture of children and chose to say NOTHING to his sister. If he’d uncovered everything in front of her, this tragedy could’ve been averted. (And please don’t say “she wouldn’t believe it anyways”, there are a thousand ways he could’ve tried.)

Saying that "even if the ML told her, she wouldn't believe it" is not an excuse for telling her nothing. Wasn't it the ML's overprotectiveness that caused her to grow up so sheltered in the first place? Asking a person to listen to you and follow your instructions without explaining anything is a very stifling love - understandable on the ML's part because he lost his mother and struggled so much, but also understandable that on her part that she would eventually rebel.
Strangely enough, I actually like the princess a bit more after her confrontation with the ML, at least the woman has the courage to do something for what she wants and is no longer a passive character. We all call her delusional (and she's certainly naive), but that's because we're watching from an omniscient perspective. Literally NO ONE has told her anything about her now-husband and all the evil things he did. From her perspective, yes he's basically a stranger, yes he doesn't love her, yes he was the "enemy", but she has no reason to think he's a scheming and selfish psychopath because the information our leads found out were not passed on to her!! As a princess whose future is certainly a political marriage, she has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get the man she wants. Is it so wrong to go for that?
The ML did his best to protect his sister from as much as he can in the palace - by not telling her anything of his plans. This sort of love is also a kind of shackle...both of them will pay the price for it.
Finally, a drama where I can actually understand WHY the ML falls in love with the FL. She’s funny, positive even in adversity, and can stand up for herself and doesn’t need him to rescue her at all! Refreshing and light watch, very little frustration in this one. :)
I actually liked this version despite the somewhat incomplete ending - there was essentially not much plot and all the ML and FL did was to flirt with each other. But damn, the flirting was on fire 🔥 Watch with your brain turned off, you’ll enjoy it!
One of the absolute best short dramas ever, refreshing plot and I LOVE a ruthless FL that matches the ruthlessness of the ML. The tension is insane and the ML is very, very good at expressing emotions with his eyes. But definitely don’t watch if you’re into morally upright, principled characters lol.
Oh I actually love the ML in this one, despite his previous playboy history. Once they get together they’re SO SWEET - he’s very gentle and soft with her, never forces her into anything, and listens when she voices her concerns. It’s a strangely healthy relationship even with the age gap (and it helps that they both look the part too!).
ML is so lacklustre in this that I can't believe I'm shipping FL with the enemy ML's who have literally tried to kill her. I cringe so hard at all the scenes with ML and FL together as they have no chemistry whatsoever and the character traits don't help at all. Hope someone compiles an edit with FL and the SML someday, I'll just watch that.

Love the ML and the FL’s relationship and their bickering, so funny and sweet!
