Title Love Next Door Spoiler
I know people are bewildered/annoyed with Seung-hyo avoidance of Seok-ryu but to me it feels realistic. None of…
I definitely agree with you. In real life, when experiencing such situations, not everyone truly has that courage where they could easily bear all their heart out in the open. Even more so if they spent half their lives together. That's why in reality unrequited love truly exist. In real life people experience having crushes but not being able to confess to them due to fear of rejection and other reasons, thus, leads to admiration from a far. Even full grown adults may it be 20s, 30s or etc. still fail to make the right decisions in real life and I guess that is just clearly how life is. We all are different. We all make different choices due to different circumstances. Our choices will certainly never be the same from what has been expected by most. So, for me, this is what makes his character seem even more realistic rather than fictional. Also, I do think he is a 'green flag'. I would find it way too over the top if he got it all going for him so smoothly and perfectly. The writer definitely did want its viewers to get that realistic feel which is why they portrayed his character in such a way, otherwise, it would have been just another fictional ml character out of reach but for Seung Hyo atleast, this type of men do exist in real life. I had the exact same thought during that last scene. It's killing me how they left us hanging. The angst will be left buried in us until next weekend comes *cries*. I'm really loving the phase of their romance progress. slow-burn. Those who aren't into such tropes would definitely not like this one. I guess this is also one reason why some viewers are disappointed with Seung Hyo's character avoiding his feelings rather than confessing as the phasing for the romance here is not the typical one.

After k-drama drought, this I must say is my new comfort drama. I'm a sucker for slow-burn romance tropes and slice of life dramas. It's been quite a while since I had last watched a comforting and refreshing drama like this. The last one would be home-cha. I love how there are plenty of layers to each characters and we get to see them in a different light. Like for the Bae family, I expected Seok Ryu's mother to be the typical unlikable mother in dramas but as I watched further episodes, I realized she wasn't that 'bad' and actually is bearable. So far, my fave characters apart from the main leads is Moeum. She is comedic on her own. She was so right about Seung Hyo. Now, I think next week's episodes would be more enjoyable as seen from preview, we are getting close to Seung Hyo finally facing his feelings. Although, during these recent episodes, he seemed to be really eager to put aside what his heart truly feels. One thing is for certain, his mind might be saying 'NO' , but his heart is screaming something different. He is seriously foolish in love. The things he did for her with or without her knowledge and how he worries extremely about her, as they say, actions truly speak louder than words. Sighs. I can't believe they left us at a cliffhanger. I need the weekdays to end quickly so we can get the new episodes already.

I am excited to see more of seok ryu's pov about seung hyo. What kind of person he is to her after they grew up…
same! Although, I think the writer did give us some subtle hints. I think she did have feelings for Seung Hyo at some point during their high school days as she gave up on her exam for him. Now, in the latest ep with his ex around, there was a specific scene where her emotions clearly depicted that of a 'jealous' person. I think she has feelings for him but is unaware of it herself.

I enjoyed today's episode. It's getting even better as we get more progress with their relationship. The interactions between them are slowly getting sweeter, their usual banters and playfulness are starting to mellow out. I can't hardly wait for the next episode already. Their chemistry is on point.

A complete disappointment. This drama started out good during the first few episodes when FL was still working alongside ML to get her revenge and him the 'throne'. I kept watching it then because of how interesting it was, I really like FL characters who are strong and the FL's character here is just exactly what I had been looking for. As for the ML, I knew he was a red flag right from the trailer and all, I still had this thought it'd be interesting since he is two-faced, him pretending to be nice but is actually as strong and even more cunning than the FL made me think he couldn't be that bad, and they'd kinda make a good couple at some point. However, as I watched further episodes, the writing for the storyline and characters turned to be a complete disappointment for me. Nearing the end of the drama, it got boring how all they showed was the ML being obsessive and beyond possessive of the FL. If only the writers kept with a better storyline and revenge arc but, NO. They made the ML's character trash, as someone who had watched plenty of dramas, this has been the first ML character whom I find disturbing and beyond just a red flag. His character is utterly immoral.

I do commend both the actress and actor. I am familiar with the FL as I had watched most of her works already. This kinda showcased her versatility as an actress and I find her styling here the most suitable and prettiest styling for her compared to her previous works. The ML is someone who I just recently knew of, through this drama. As much as I hate his character in this, I liked his acting. He nailed it. His eye expressions are crazy on point and he is very good looking. I am just happy that both of them will be reuniting in a new short drama which I hope will be much better than this one.

Both the actors here playing lead roles deserves so much better. They deserve a better storyline, honestly. The ML actor deserves a better character too. They completely wasted such good actors plus the visual quality for this considering it's a short drama seems so high budget because of the styling and set up. It is sad, all of that has gone to waste. Will only watch the last episode to see if ML character gets the karma he deserved.

Also, despite this having some sort of similar vibes to 'GoodBye My Princess'. I must say that watching that is much more bearable than this one imo. This is so twisted.

For Xueji to threaten her father with her life for Ziyu (by helping Huaiyang) 😭Shi family does not deserve…
I agree! she deserves better and I am honestly hoping the shi family gets their karma!! they've been using her solely for their family gain.

Thought I would be dropping this at the first episode since I am not a fan of noona-dongsaeng romance, but the storyline for this one and their chemistry caught me off guard. So far, loving both the leads acting, the 'age gap' between them didn't bother me at all, instead, they made it seem like they had no gap at all. Love this and will definitely continue watching.

I'm not a fan of noona and dongsaeng romance, but I wanted to try watching this after seeing the trailer. I liked the ml from wedding impossible. I barely finished the first episode. Tbh, I am not feeling much chemistry between both leads? Idk but they look more like siblings to me.

I noticed too when I watched their guestings and interviews. They both are so comfortable with each other already.…
I'm planning to watch it today. I actually saw a clip from tiktok where they change each other's contact name and couldn't stop laughing with what Somin changed her name into. Hopefully, Haein never changes it haha...oh I remember now, I completely forgot about her works with Kang Haneul! As for her working twice with Seo In Guk, wasn't the other one just a cameo? Although, same I want to see both Haein and Somin in another drama with a different genre! That's a great idea! I think they will definitely nail it!

Oh my gosh, Haein and Somin are just too cute together! They’ve developed such a sweet friendship, and it’s…
I noticed too when I watched their guestings and interviews. They both are so comfortable with each other already. I also like the fact that they relied on each other during the set and learned something 'new' from one another. Like, Haein being able to learn from Somin's comedic skills in acting. I definitely agree with you, they brought so much life to their characters because of their genuine chemistry. I am a fan of both the actors, I have watched most of Haein's dramas before and saw how he was with his other female leads. This is the first time I have seen him being 100% completely his true self and his playful side naturally comes out whenever he is with Somin. As both are introverts, it's not easy to find someone to get close with but both of them just click together. Sadly, I doubt they would be able to work on another project again, knowing how the acting world of korea works. They rarely have their actors work tgt again. The only actors I know who got such chance were Hyunbin and Yejin. Although, I do hope they remain close even after this project and maybe some time in future, if opportunity allows, they can work on another amazing drama.

This drama is good but not as good as ML past dramas... Like in this drama they somehow ruined ML lead character…
I do respect the fact that we all have differing taste and opinions. Obviously, this drama is not your cup of tea, I am not going to force you to like it but just want to state that you're completely wrong about 'people' giving this drama a 'high rating' solely just because of the cast. As much as, I am a fan of both actors, who have watched many of their past works as well, the main reason I am sticking around for this is the storyline. I relate a lot to Bae Seuk Ryu's character, as in real life, I am currently going through sort of the same process as her, this is why I am able to not just watch this drama for the sake of watching my faves but also connect well emotionally with the characters. Plus, this is basically the first romcom genre drama that Haein has took in, of course, the usual Haein roles that we know in his past projects wouldn't be implemented in his character as 'Seung Hyo' that would not be romcom at all. His character here is so new, we get to see a different comedic side of him and that in itself is versatility. If he stuck with the usual characters he usually plays in dramas like d.p, snowdrop etc. I do not think that would be 'versatile' at all. He is doing so well playing Seung Hyo for someone new in romcom series.

I found the complete letter of Choi Seung Hyo on Twitter (cr.hxnnxse) and decided to translate it. There might be slight inaccuracies in my translation so forgive me in advance, but I will try my best to translate it accurately.

"To Choi Seung Hyo in 10 years,
having to write a letter like this is really childish. Bae Seuk Ryu keeps asking me to do it, that is why I did it, well whatever, i'll just write it down for now. Probably by that time you have already participated 3 times at the olympics right? You must have participated in many world championships, and became a complete veteran player (swimmer). Olympic medals descends from the sky so, I don't know if you won a medal or not, but I hope you will not regret the outcome. As long as you have enjoyed the process, that is enough. But still, I couldn't imagine it yet. 10 years from now seems so far. By then, you must have already confessed to Bae Seuk Ryu right? To be honest, I don't know when I have started to like her. We have been together since we were very young. I started swimming because of my asthma however, I think it was because of Bae Seuk Ryu that I wanted to swim well. Just in case when Baek Seuk Ryu who is afraid of water falls into it, I will be able to save her at anytime. And I realized as I looked at the girl who skipped her exam to cheer for me at the time when my mom and dad didn't come at my game (swim tournament). After meeting Bae Seuk Ryu, there was never a moment when I didn't like her. But I don't have the courage to let my feelings be discovered/caught because i'm afraid that our friendship would be ruined. So, instead of now, I hope that after we become an adult over the age of 20, I will be able to convey my feelings for Bae Seuk Ryu well at that time."

I agree! She definitely had feelings for him as well at some point during their childhood. That scene itself hinted…
Right!!!! I had that scene on repeat last night, I couldn't get over the sparks between their eyes. It's such a well-known trope to us, they can't fool us! haha she definitely wanted to kiss him it was so obvious, she wouldn't have to move her head so close to his face if she was only after for a hug. Although, I wonder what happened to her because she looked so sad and I think she sort of cried during that scene? I can't contain my excitement for next weeks episode!!!!
